Many Americans are talking about how well the Republicans may do in the midterm elections this November. I say they can’t win because the Republican Party no longer exists. Those who claim to be the Republicans aren’t. The party is dead. Only the name survives.

This is not the party of Abraham Lincoln. Ronald Reagan was far too liberal for today’s Republicans. The only thing left is the neocon wing, personified by former Vice President Dick Cheney.

The party is owned by corporate puppets that apologize to BP. The party is led by Rush Limbaugh and Sarah Palin.

Republicans need to take responsibility. They need to stand for something more than empty slogans. There are no ideas there anymore.

Given how piss-poor Zero is, it is a distinct possiblity. But never discount the ability of the GOP to shoot themselves in the foot. There's plenty of time left
I say they can’t win because the Republican Party no longer exists.
Oh if that were only true . . .
Those who claim to be the Republicans aren’t.
And who would those be? The last nominee - John McClown? Olympia Snowe? Susan Collins? Scott Brown? Arlen Sphincter? (oh yeah, that's right. He did join the dems - and had his ass handed to him)
The party is dead. Only the name survives.
Oh if that were only true . . .
This is not the party of Abraham Lincoln.
So? Is the dem party still the party of Steven Douglas?
Ronald Reagan was far too liberal for today’s Republicans.
Bullshit
The only thing left is the neocon wing, personified by former Vice President Dick Cheney.
What office is Cheney running for?
The party is owned by corporate puppets that apologize to BP.
Would that be the same BP that contributed to Zero's campaign?
The party is led by Rush Limbaugh and Sarah Palin.
Limbaugh holds no nor will he run for elected office. Palin holds no elected office, nor will she be the nominee. You can like them or hate them.

But I'd shut up about them if my only alternative were Reid, Pelosi, Biden, et al.

Republicans need to take responsibility.
Why? They're completely out of power. This trainwreck belongs to Obama and the dems.
They need to stand for something more than empty slogans. There are no ideas there anymore.
And what ideas did the slogans "hope" and "change" mean?

If I could, I would.
But I can't, so I won't.

Unfortunately the train wreck happened in the last administration. Its going to take awhile to clear the wreckage and repair the tracks.

You can tell that Ignore is a troll just from that one statement.

Cheney's present influence can be compared to that of Karl Rove and Henry Kissinger, neither of whom have ever been elected to high party positions.

You forget that wishful thinking and fairy dust play a large part in the GOP strategery.

Just so you know - there were 41 POTUS' (42 if you count Cleveland twice) before GWB. And over a hundred Congressional sessions.

If you think ALL of our current problems began with GWB, you need to go back to school.

And a friendly word of advice - try to get over your insane Bush hatred. It's not hurting him (he's retired and living the life of luxury).

As bad as I believe Zero to be, I don't hate him. I don't hate ANY politician, really. I just hate what some of them have done and are doing to this once great country.

Oh geezus fucking cripes...you think you read it on the internet so it has to be correct?

BPPAC made one donation to Obama and it was in 2004 and for $1000.00. Every other donation that has "BP" associated to it came from individual donors who work for BP.

2.5 and 6 days old.

I was at a wedding in DC on Saturday and got a call about three hours after I went to bed that my D-I-L was in labor. I drove, quite hungover, to Pittsburgh and flew my wife in from NY. We drove back that night. She's been getting carsick whenever she rides in a regular car and I have a Passat; so I had to drive from Pit to NYC. I did this all on three hours sleep...

(They may be moving south soon - that'll sure break mine)

Sounds like you'll just have to spoil them more...

Oh, I always hold out hope.

Confession time: I developed quite a strong dislike for the Clintons in the 90s. (I won't go quite so far to call it hatred - but it was close).

But then I started frequenting political chat boards, and saw others who had hatreds of their own. (some of the hate was directed to leftists, some to rightists, and some I believe were just personality based.)

I came to realize it wasn't a positive trait to have - and I've tried to work on it. (Besides, it's not Christian to hate.)

If I could, I would.
But I can't, so I won't.

I don't hate em personally. Clinton? Hell, I grew up with a kid just like him. I knew what he was the first time I listened seriously to him, during that DNC Convention speech that went on for eeeevvvvveeeerrr in 1988.

Honestly, I wish either he OR his wife were President today.

At least they understood 'its the economy, stupid!'.
