Investigations Ed Lasky If the Democrats lose the House, they may very well lose not just that sword but also the shield that has prevented inquiring Congressmen from investigating the shenanigans of the Obama administration and its minions in Congress. From the Washington Post: If there's one congressional aide White House officials might wind up fearing most, it's Larry Brady. He's all but unknown, but Brady is the secret weapon for Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.). As minority staff director of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, Brady stands ready to wield almighty subpoena power if Republicans seize control of the chamber in November and make Issa chairman of the panel. Handing subpoena power to Issa and his staff would be the White House's "worst nightmare," says Don Goldberg, a crisis-management expert at Qorvis Communications. As head of the GOP staff on the oversight panel, Brady has been at the forefront of exposing controversies that, if nothing else, have caused political headaches for the Obama administration. They include allegations that the White House tried to bribe Democratic challengers in this year's Pennsylvania and Colorado Senate races to drop out. Issa also released a report that he said documented ACORN's aggressive political support for Democratic candidates. The report helped make the community organizing group a hot-button political issue and a target for conservative activists. Later, Congress cut off federal funding to the organization. Further areas to explore would include at least two Cabinet officials and their conduct, according to Brady. One of these would be Attorney General Eric Holder (Brady is coy regarding the other name on his list but alludes to Treasury Secretary Geithner as being a potential "target") who has been stonewalling efforts to get to the bottom of a range of scandals: the New Black Panther Party voter rights case, ACORN, job offers to Democrats to drop election contests (Andrew Romanoff in Colorado and Joe Sestak in Pennsylvania). Since the media has either chosen to ignore these issues or has whitewashed them, and since Holder and fellow Democrats have either been complicit in the controversies or played a role in smothering any sort of investigations, it is high time for Republicans to finally try to ferret out the truth - and that may very well be a fringe benefit should the GOP take back the House. Who would ultimately pay the price - finally - for acts that have offended so many Americans. Barack Obama-so we can expect a range of actions (fair and foul) designed to swing the election to Democrats November (and then January when a new Congress is in place) cannot happen fast enough.
