JaMarcus Russell has been charged with possession of a controlled substance after being arrested at his Alabama home on Monday. Read more on JaMarcus arrest below. JaMarcus was busted for having codeine syrup and reportedly did not have a prescription for the drug. JaMarcus had codeine cough syrup, which can be mixed with soda to make purple drank.
Russell was booked into an Alabama jail and released on $2,500 bond.
JaMarcus Russell reportedly eliminated himself from being considered by the Jets after his arrest.
Russell and his agent did not immediately return calls for comment.
