LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A man who claims he was abused by a priest in Southern California in the 1960s is suing the Catholic Salesian order, as well as the Vatican. The alleged victim filed a lawsuit at the /*Los Angeles County Superior Court*/ on Wednesday.
The plaintiff alleges that the /*Salesian order*/ of the /*Roman Catholic church*/ and the /*Vatican* conspired to transfer retired Rev. /*Titian "Jim" Miani*/ to six locations on three continents to cover up his abuse.
It's not the first time Miani has been accused of abusing children.
In 2003, he was charged with molesting two young girls decades earlier.
The lawsuit alleges that Miana abused the plaintiff while he was a student at a catholic high school in the city of Bellflower.
Jeff Anderson, the plaintiff's attorney, alleges Miani is a serial predator priest with a long history of molesting children.
"James Miani was originally in Italy, he was move to Brazil, he was moved then from Brazil to Canada, he was moved then to Los Angeles, he was then moved to Sacramento ... where we know he offended at least a dozen youth," said Anderson at a news conference Wednesday.
He claims that the Vatican permitted the abuse and allowed Miani to continue in the ministry.
He said his client, who was not at the press conference, has filed the lawsuit to protect other children and prevent this abuse from happening again.
"This is an effort by this courageous survivor to hold them accountable, the Salesian society, so they don't permit James Miani or other priests like him to commit crimes against the youth," Anderson said.
The lawsuit is seeking unspecified damages.
Neither the /*Archdiocese of Los Angeles* nor the Vatican commented on the abuse allegations.
