William Kristol, the influential neo-conservative founder and editor of The Weekly Standard, is calling for the resignation of Republic Party chairman Michael Steele over the GOP chairman's comment that the war in Afghanistan is "a war of Obama's choosing" and is "not something the United States had actively prosecuted or wanted to engage in."
Here's how Kristol, a passionate supporter of both the Iraq and Afghan wars, puts it on the magazine's website:
You are, I know, a patriot. So I ask you to consider, over this July 4 weekend, doing an act of service for the country you love: Resign as chairman of the Republican Party."
