Organizers Expecting Thousands of Bikes (motocycles) as American Freedoms Motorcyle Rally Kicks off in Corbin Today
A local promotions company owner admits with a smile that he doesn't even own a motorcycle - a bit of irony that makes him laugh as he works feverishly on the eve of a patriotic-themed motorcycle rally in Corbin that is expected to draw in around 5,000 bikes this week.
The American Freedoms Motorcycle Rally and Event kicks off today at The Arena at the Southeastern Kentucky Ag. And Expo Center in south Corbin. Gates to the event open at 5:00 p.m. A parade of bikes, featuring area mayors and judge-executives, will take place downtown at 6:00 p.m.
On Saturday beginning at 3:30 pm. at the Rally, there will be a military appreciation event that both Creech and Siler said would be something special. On Wednesday, a replica of the Vietnam War Memorial, complete with its iconic obsidian walls, will be erected at the Corbin Center for Technology and Community activities.
Today's kickoff festivities will culminate in a concert by The Kentucky Headhunters. The rally will be open until midnight each day. Gates open at 5:00 p.m. today and at noon Thursday and Friday. Gates open at 10:00 a.m. Saturday.
Still not sure if I'll be going, hell, I can hear the music from right here I'm so close...
Headhunters are getting old, but they still sound good. There's another local group we have here that sound just like them, they're called 'Backwoods Expedition', not many outside of here have heard of them.

Wife and I used to go to Laughlin and Hollister......not the past few years with our now 5 year old field programmable unit (son) and also due to the biker shootouts and fights the past few years.
It WAS a blast though:)
Death to everybody who does not get outta my way. Below is positively the most hilariously BS overflowing comment from the resident obamunist spent-condom EVER:) "This is WHY I left the GOP in the mid 90's. ." Dwarf

You have a little 5yr old? LOL.. my youngest g-son just turned 5, my daughter moved to Illinois and I'm sick at heart missing my three youngest g-kids.
This area, near the Cumberland Falls, used to be famous for visiting country singers, it was called 'Tombstone Junction', but it burned and they never rebuilt it. We still have some visit, the last I went to see was BJ Thomas, I've seen him about three times.
Loretta Lynn was the last I saw at Tombstone. I heard that Dolly Parton is sniffing around and maybe thinking about buying the property...who knows, I really don't think she will, she's getting along in age and has quite a bit to care for already.

Yeah:).....chuckles......he has too much energy (mostly seems to be concentrated on powering his jaw lately).....making me feel old too.
But he's a blast and the apple of our eye:) I'm trying to convince the wife we need to have a spare.....no green light yet on that one:):)
Going straight grandkids is the way to go according to my mom at least (after raising us)....all the fun....once the whining, crying etc.. starts just pack em up in mom and dad's car and viola'....peace and quiet. Sounds like you get tired of too much "quiet" though:)

I can surely understand that! Give her time, she may eventually want a little girl...then the two of them can gang up on you and jr....aha
My g-daughter (13) is overwhelmed by all her brothers, but she loves them, the oldest I rasied him till he was 15, he's 16, over 6ft tall and living with his dad in lexington now. I miss him but he calls everyday, and it's good he's with his father, a guy needs his fathers influence, if he's a good dad.
