Organizers Expecting Thousands of Bikes (motocycles) as American Freedoms Motorcyle Rally Kicks off in Corbin Today
A local promotions company owner admits with a smile that he doesn't even own a motorcycle - a bit of irony that makes him laugh as he works feverishly on the eve of a patriotic-themed motorcycle rally in Corbin that is expected to draw in around 5,000 bikes this week.
The American Freedoms Motorcycle Rally and Event kicks off today at The Arena at the Southeastern Kentucky Ag. And Expo Center in south Corbin. Gates to the event open at 5:00 p.m. A parade of bikes, featuring area mayors and judge-executives, will take place downtown at 6:00 p.m.
On Saturday beginning at 3:30 pm. at the Rally, there will be a military appreciation event that both Creech and Siler said would be something special. On Wednesday, a replica of the Vietnam War Memorial, complete with its iconic obsidian walls, will be erected at the Corbin Center for Technology and Community activities.
Today's kickoff festivities will culminate in a concert by The Kentucky Headhunters. The rally will be open until midnight each day. Gates open at 5:00 p.m. today and at noon Thursday and Friday. Gates open at 10:00 a.m. Saturday.
Still not sure if I'll be going, hell, I can hear the music from right here I'm so close...
Headhunters are getting old, but they still sound good. There's another local group we have here that sound just like them, they're called 'Backwoods Expedition', not many outside of here have heard of them.
