Music fans take time from revelry for 8th of November observation
Matthew Chang, a former Marine from Rockville, Md., was among those fans who were moved by The 8th of November documentary shown Thursday at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museums Ford Theatre.
It was a well-done documentary, said Chang. Being a former Marine, I kind of relate to that story.
Chang is a major Big & Rich fan and was planning on attending the fan events and just about anything else that had to do with his heroes while in town.
And he was looking forward to that partying. But he also took time to appreciate the solemn sacrifice of the soldiers in that movie thats subtitled A True Story of Pain & Honor and details the eight hours of bloodshed in Vietnam that sparked the Big & Rich song.
Ive been in combat in Kosovo and I know how it is, how difficult it is to go through that.
Another Big & Rich fan, Iris DeWitt, from Southeast Missouri, said the movie made her eager to get to the fan club event.
But she appreciated what she saw. It was all good, she said. Its wonderful. Its sad. Its good. They went through a lot over there.
