Obama’s dereliction of duty regarding expeditiously and appropriately responding to the Gulf oil spill is now being compensated for by strong-arm threats from him and other Administration officials. The American public, including much of his fawning liberal support base, find these to be offensive, unwarranted and not constructive. They are repulsed by his initial actions of sending lawyers through Attorney General Eric Holder to investigate legal infractions rather than marshalling clean-up and stop-up crews.

His most recent response was to form a committee filled with his appointees to deal with the spill two months after it occurred. And who are the members of it? Oil industry experts? Individuals with maritime expertise?

Of course not! They are bureaucrats, environmentalist and political insiders – Obama ideologues. There is no real world experience related to this scenario but that is not the least bit surprising with this arrogant, corrupt, incompetent and ideologically rigid and radical administration.

And these are just a few of the infinite reasons that Obama’s support continues to plummet even among his previously most ardent supports.

This fiasco is just one more reason that Obama needs to be impeached or removed from office.

Anyone who believes Zero is going to be impeached or removed from office probably still believes in Santa or the Tooth Fairy.

Until Zero ceases doing what his financial backers put him in office to do, he ain't going anywhere.

If I could, I would.
But I can't, so I won't.

Why isn't every ship capable of skimming oil from the ocean on scene? Why hasn't Owe-bama by executive order set aside the Jones Act, as Bush did in the wake of Katrina? Why is there literally miles and miles of 'booms' sitting in a warehouse here in America, rather than being deployed in the Gulf to contain the spill? Why is the administration blocking the building of sand berms to stop the oil from hitting beaches and marshlands?

This is looking like the worst month so far for the Administration...most of us figured it wouldn't occur til late this year, or early next year, and be about the economy.

Learning a man that tried to destroy your company just got sentence to 18 months in prison, and fined $600,000 will make ya a happy happy man. What a great day. Now, all I have to do is select the right card to send him in prison lol.

What happens if oil spills elsewhere, dumbfuck?

And you do know that one of BIG issues here is the fact that the oil isn't coming to the surface but it is remaining suspended underwater? Of course you don't. You're stupid.

And the POTUS doesn't, by executive order, suspend any laws.

The language of the law itself grants the Executive the power to waive the law in the interests of national security.

Well...you've presented boofer with quite the conundrum...if NS is involved then the military can be involved. According to Boofer, oil spills don't qualify.

Nope. DHS waived it. And it was waived so that equipment could be moved inland up the Mississippi. There has been no reason to suspend the Jones Act here if only because there's no need to in the Gulf.

Since there is precedent for suspending the law in non-military situations (Rita), it would appear their is acceptance of some latitude in what consists of "national security."

Economic Crisis, The Audit — June 22, 2010 07:55 PM “BP Journalists” and Their Greatest Propaganda Hits

Tone-deaf PR from the oil spiller

By Ryan Chittum

"... That relatively brief span of development is remarkable. Although there were some primitive attempts at offshore production as far back as the 1890s off Ohio and California, the really big oil boom for the Gulf of Mexico didn’t begin until after World War II.

Yet the Gulf now supplies roughly one-fourth of the US oil production and one-fifth of its natural gas. It’s likely there will be no alternative to the Gulf as a key source of American energy for decades to come. That’s why it is so essential to protect it. "

No shame.

Another story helpfully explains why people along the Mississippi coast are so alarmed about the catastrophic oil spill off their beaches:

" Waveland has been almost destroyed - twice - by hurricanes among history’s most ferocious. There was Camille in 1969, and then Katrina in 2005. Recovery from Camille took almost a decade, and rebuilding from Katrina is still ongoing.

Perhaps that troubled history swept in from the Gulf explains why there’s such strong interest here in the current oil spill."

Paula Kolmar, the other BP “reporter” isn’t quite as subtle as Seslar. One of her posts lauds the oil cleanup as a “ballet at sea as mesmerising as any performance in a concert hall, and worthy of an audience in its own right.”

You might say the same thing about a brown pelican struggling to get out of the sludge BP dumped on it:

#24. To: All (#23)

And, man, has BP been cutting corners on editors, too?

Flying out on the US Coast Guard HC-144 aircraft to see the oil spill and mitigating activities underway was a privilege that never hit my radar of possible experiences.

The dogged BP reporters try to track down some tarballs on the beach, and—phew!—report the coast is clear!

There was word of a ‘sighting’ of three tar balls on a beach in Pensacola, Florida which is about an hour’s drive from Mobile, Alabama. If you’ve ever been to Pensacola you can understand why it would be worth a trip to check it out; the thought of tar balls on these beaches is heartbreaking.

When my photographer and I arrived we were happy to see the beach crowded with people from every age group from young families to a couple in their 80s."
