The Rasmussen Consumer Index, which measures the economic confidence of consumers on a daily basis, fell to its lowest level since April 11 on Wednesday. At 76.3,consumer confidence is down three points from yesterday, down six points from a week ago and is just five points shy of the lowest level recorded so far this year. The Rasmussen Investor Index, which measures the economic confidence of investors on a daily basis, dipped a point today to 83.7. That's the lowest level of confidence measured since March 19. The index is down 11 points from a week ago as well as a month ago. The index is now just three points above the lowest level recorded this year.
Nationally, 25% of adults believe economic conditions in the country are getting better. Twice as many Americans feel conditions are getting worse. Among investors, 30% say economic conditions in the country are improving, while 46% disagree.
Nearly 70% of adult consumers and investors still think the U.S. is suffering a recession. Fifteen percent (15%) of both groups disagree.
