The results of a study, published last month in the New England Journal of Medicine, by the independent, non-commercial, Ischemia Research and Education Foundation (IREF), found Trasylol associated with a 2-fold increase in renal failure requiring dialysis in patients undergoing major surgery. The study data was gathered from patients who had surgery between 1996 and 2000, at more than 69 medical centers around the world, and received either Trasylol, aminocaproic acid, tranexamic acid, or no drug treatment.
