(AP Photo/Cliff Owen)(CNSNews.com) – “Every worker in America has a right to be paid fairly, whether documented or not,” says Labor Secretary Hilda Solis in a public service announcement posted on the Labor Department’s “We Can Help” Web page.
The Web site says the Labor Department’s Wage and Hour Division is responsible for administering and enforcing some of the nation's most important worker protection laws – and is “committed to ensuring that workers in this country are paid properly and for all the hours they work, regardless of immigration status.”
In a different section of its Web site, the Labor Department states that “employers may hire only persons who may legally work in the United States (i.e., citizens and nationals of the U.S.) and aliens authorized to work in the U.S.”
What follows is a transcript of Solis’s PSA:
"You work hard, and you have the right to be paid fairly. I'm U.S. Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis, and it is a serious problem when workers in this country are not being paid every cent that they earn.
