Van der Sloot a Dead Man, Says Ex-Con Predicts Dutchman Charged in Stephany Flores Slaying Will Be Killed by Fellow Inmates in Peru So says prison expert and ex-con Larry Levine, founder of Wall Street Prison Consultants. On "The Early Show on Saturday Morning," Levine said van der Sloot will never last in prison in Peru, where he's being held for the May 30 slaying of 21-year-old business student Stephany Flores in his Lima hotel room. The Dutchman is also still the chief suspect in the 2005 disappearance in Aruba of Alabama teen Natalee Holloway. And, says Levine, he probably doesn't have much time left. "You know, that's a dangerous place. ... You've got murderers there, terrorists there - you've got bad people. And the problem he's facing is that the father of Stephany (Flores) ... is a prominent person. And this is an impoverished prison. And you pay off the right people, ya know, someone will stick a knife right in the guy. "They'll be lining up to kill him. He has no hope. He has no chance. "And I could give advice to his mother, that I would go out and buy a black dress and get ready for the funeral, because it's gonna be all over pretty soon." That's the case even though van Sloot is being kept away from fellow inmates, Levine says. "He's in solitary. He's living in a cellblock that has ten cells to it. He's living by himself. ... His existence is just about over. … It doesn't really matter if they isolate him because, even in a U.S. prison, people can get to people. "I talked to my buddy, Bobby the Bookmaker, in Vegas. He says you can't even get a line on the guy, because he's a dead man. Nobody's picking up the action on this. The show's over for this kid. He needs to face the facts." Levine says van der Sloot may even see the handwriting on his cell's walls. "I read a report somewhere that he's got a Bible in his cell. He's probably reading the Bible. "And he's probably trying to plan his next move, but he doesn't have a lot of options. This isn't like the U.S. judicial system, where you're innocent until proven guilty. It's the Napoleonic system, where you're guilty until proven innocent. He's got a lawyer who he probably cannot understand. He's just thrown into an environment where he has no hope of survival. His existence is gonna be nil. "He doesn't have any money on the inside. I mean, in this prison, if you can get money on the inside, you can get drugs, you can get special food, you can get a woman in your cell. You can get just about anything you want. But he's in an isolation unit. "He has nothing and he has no hope."

Joran van der Sloot May Have Killed Stephany Flores, his mother says Joran van der Sloot "may indeed have done something to Stephany [Flores] in Peru," his mother said in an interview with a Dutch newspaper, according to new reports. Van der Sloot, who is the main suspect in the 2005 disapperance of Natalee Holloway in Aruba, has been charged in the murder of Flores and cops in Peru say he issued a detailed confession. "I now believe that Joran may indeed have done something to Stephany in Peru. Maybe in a burst of anger? I don't know," Anita van der Sloot told De Telegraaf, according to ABCNews.com. "I think it is intensely sad that that businessman Flores has lost his daughter, and I my son. That's how it feels." Just last week ABC News obtained an email Anita wrote saying her son is "not a murderer." In the De Telegraaf interview, she said Joran suffers from mental problems. After his arrest in the Holloway case, van der Sloot should've gotten psychiatric help, his mother said. "He lied so much, that we became desperate. He said to me too, 'Mom, I sometimes don't know any more if something is a lie or the truth,'" the paper quoted her as saying. "Joran is sick in his head, but he didn't want any help." Van der Sloot, 22, has been jailed in Peru on suspicion of killing 21-year-old Flores on May 30 — five years to the day after Holloway's still-unsolved disappearance while on vacation in Aruba. Holloway was last seen alive with Van der Sloot. He is due to be interviewed by a judge in Lima next week. The van der Sloot family lives in Aruba, where the interview was conducted. Anita told the paper her son had abruptly disappeared in mid-May two days before he was due to travel to the Netherlands to stay at a mental institution. He left a note saying he was going to Peru. Van der Sloot had been traveling the world but returned to Aruba in April after his father Paul died of a heart attack while playing tennis. Van der Sloot confessed to, then later retracted, involvement in Holloway's disappearance several times publicly and privately. He has told his jailers in Peru he is ready to clarify the Holloway case — but only with Aruba authorities. In the Telegraaf interview Anita told the paper she does not believe Joran killed Holloway. "But if he killed Stephany, he'll have to pay the price. I won't visit him in his cell, I cannot embrace him," she was quoted saying. She said Joran's mental health had deteriorated steadily from the time of the Holloway disappearance. She attributed his decline in part to intense media scrutiny. She told the paper he had called her several days before Flores' death. "He said he was being followed. He had been arrested together with a girl and robbed. He was not making sense," the paper quoted her as saying. "I can't cry for Joran like I did for Paul [her husband]. I hope that he gets psychological help."
