1854 Kansas-Nebraska Act Post Date: 2017-02-13 19:06:36 by A K A Stone

Illinois Senator Stephen Douglas, one of the architects of the Compromise of 1850, proposed to organize governments for two new territories that belonged to the Louisiana Purchase Lands, Kansas and Nebraska. His motivation had political and economical roots. He had envisioned a transcontinental railroad crossing the country west to east with Illinois, his state, as the eastern terminal. He needed the support of the south. And because the territory was above the 36Ú30 line of the 1820 Missouri Compromise, the bill would open up territory not previously available to slavery. The bill was approved and signed by President Franklin Pierce. The Kansas-Nebraska Act drew new borders ...
Douglass’ Role in the Civil War Post Date: 2017-02-13 19:03:07 by A K A Stone

A war undertaken and brazenly carried for the perpetual enslavement of the colored men, calls logically and loudly for the colored men to help suppress it. Growing political tensions over the spread of slavery started a decade before the beginning of the war. As a preamble to the Civil War, between 1854 and 1861, there were a series of violent political confrontations known as Bloody Kansas or Bleeding Kansas as a result of the Kansas-Nebraska Act. The conflict arouse primarily on the subject of Kansas being accepted into the Union as a slave-free or slave state. The election of Abraham Lincoln as president in 1860 and the of Republican Partys determination to stop the ...
Lakeland man scams $7 billion in Jesus' name Post Date: 2017-02-13 17:50:18 by Willie Green

LAKELAND (FOX 13) - An unemployed Polk County man admitted to making $7 billion in fraudulent online payments, but said he did it because Jesus Christ created wealth for him, according to court records. Investigators interviewed John Michael Haskew in December after a payment processing company noticed large payments being made to a bank account from a "large, nationally renowned financial institution." Those payments totaled around $7 billion, which were paid to the account over a two-day period. Detectives tracked Haskew using the IP address, which was linked to the account with the payment processing company, to his home in Lakeland. Haskew told investigators he was ...
“So-Called Judges” Try To Mandate American Dispossession. Resist Or Die! Post Date: 2017-02-13 15:21:58 by nativist nationalist

So its not just enforcing immigration laws that is racist today. Now, even the distinction between citizen and non-citizen has become offensive. The battle now is not just to preserve President Trumps travel ban from the attacks of so-called judges, to adapt his entirely accurate description, and the Official Opposition/Main Stream Media. Its about preserving the existence of the nation itself. MSM enforcers, few of whom have ever read a book other than Harry Potter, cheered President Trumps defeat in the courts as a defeat for the president they despise and are openly trying to unseat. But their simplistic coverage concealed the ...
Frederick Douglas, An Alternative Truth Post Date: 2017-02-13 15:08:40 by A K A Stone

Who was Frederick Douglass? More importantly, why does Frederick Douglass matter to todays America? The above questions are not merely rhetorical, as the recent controversy surrounding President Trumps Black History Month statement illustrate. Frederick Douglass, Trump said, is an example of somebody whos done an amazing job and is being recognized more and more, I notice. The mainstream media have caste Trumps curious mixture of both past and present tenses whos done (past) vs. is being recognized (present) - as an incongruous construction at best, and at worst as a clueless invocation of one of ...
Police Officers: “We Didn’t Vote Republican To Get Stabbed In The Back” Post Date: 2017-02-13 12:17:37 by Willie Green

In the highly contentious battle to extinguish public worker rights, Iowa Republicans have attempted a divide-and-conquer approach to pit unions against each other. Their legislation splits public workers into two groups, one thats public safety workers, and one that isnt. The idea was to strip away nearly all collective bargaining rights from most public employees, but keep most of it for police and firefighters, who are politically more difficult to go after. It didnt work. Hundreds of helmeted firefighters have flooded the Statehouse in the last week and police officers and sheriffs have lined up at committee hearings to speak against it. They ...

So, you're thinking about buying some gold or silver, but you're still hesitant. You've paid attention and done your homework. You understand your nation's financial health is nowhere near what your government, Wall Street, and mainstream news are saying. U.S. Dollar depreciation You're told the unemployment rate is 6%. You wonder how that could be when one out of three working-age Americans, 90 million souls, are out of work. You have relatives and friends not working, maybe several, and you notice it didn't used to be that way. The numbers sound to you more like Great Depression than Green Shoot Recovery. Your government puts inflation at 1%, but you see the ...
The War on Some Drugs Post Date: 2017-02-13 10:46:06 by Deckard

Drugs are a charged subject everywhere. Longtime readers know that although I personally abstain from drugs and generally eschew the company of users, I think they should be 100% legal. Few people consider how arbitrary the current prohibition is; up until the 1920s, heroin and cocaine were both perfectly legal and easily obtainable over the counter. Some people abused them, just like some today abuse fat and sugar (because theyre enjoyable). But drugs are no more of a problem than anything else; life is full of problems. In fact, life isnt just full of problems; life is problems. What is a problem? Its simply the situation of having to ...
Stephen Miller goes Kellyanne Conway: Trump adviser blasted for dishonesty on Sunday morning shows Post Date: 2017-02-13 09:10:01 by Willie Green

Stephen Miller's credibility is rapidly running out President Donald Trump took to Twitter on Sunday morning to praise his senior policy adviser Stephen Miller for his televised defenses of the president. But critics have pointed to a series of troubling statements by Miller that displayed contempt for basic constitutional principles and, like Trumps more prominent spokesperson Kellyanne Conway, reek of dishonesty. Its so much worse than I thought, Mika Brzezinski, co-host of MSNBCs Morning Joe, said Monday. Brzezinski was referring to Millers statement to Chris Wallace on Fox News Sunday criticizing the ...

Pat Condell Tells It Like It Is In Europe...With Open Borders Post Date: 2017-02-13 00:08:43 by Tooconservative

Pat Condell is an old atheist curmudgeon but with a twist....he actually doesn't give a shit what religious people do, as long as it doesn't damage others. So his many videos, most of which are spot-on, don't go after the Lutheran suicide bombers or the Hasidic Jewish knife-wielding maniacs or the Baptist snipers. Shockingly, his target is Islam. And with wit and cleverness and a fine grasp of the facts he eviscerates the British and European proclivity for self-destruction that has taken the form of unfettered legal and illegal immigration, and a suicidal tolerance for intolerant, violent, anti-Western savagery perpetrated on meek and accepting Europeans. ...

When former President Barack Obama said he was heartened by anti-Trump protests, he was sending a message of approval to his troops. Troops? Yes, Obama has an army of agitators numbering more than 30,000 who will fight his Republican successor at every turn of his historic presidency. And Obama will command them from a bunker less than two miles from the White House. In whats shaping up to be a highly unusual post-presidency, Obama isnt just staying behind in Washington. Hes working behind the scenes to set up what will effectively be a shadow government to not only protect his threatened legacy, but to sabotage the incoming administration and its ...

Texas Republican lawmakers are readying a bill that would allow for criminal charges against city or county officials who intentionally dont comply. Uh-Oh! Marijuana Prices Are Plunging, and You're Not Going to Be Happy With the Reason Why Post Date: 2017-02-12 19:56:44 by Hondo68

This supply-and-demand issue has wide-reaching implications. The marijuana industry was one of the brightest stories in an otherwise chaotic 2016. Heading into November, residents in nine states were set to vote on various recreational and medical cannabis initiatives and amendments. With the exception of Arizona, which had its recreational-marijuana initiative rejected by just 2%, it was a clean sweep for pot in every other state. Two other states, Ohio and Pennsylvania, approved medical-cannabis laws entirely through the legislative process (i.e., without putting a measure on the ballot for residents to vote on). By year's end, 28 states were now considered medical cannabis-legal, ...

Coming Trump-Putin-Erdogan Deal Rumbles Thru Middle East Post Date: 2017-02-12 18:41:41 by A K A Stone

The report that Russian President Vladimir Putin may be considering making President Donald Trump the gift of turning over former NSA analyst Edward Snowden is part of a much broader scheme that is already sending tremors through the Middle East. Snowden won asylum in Moscow after leaking secrets to journalists four years ago. The Trump administration appears to have leaked the rumor about the US leaker, seen by some Americans as a whistleblower, as a trial balloon in the secret give-and-take maneuvers afoot between the two presidents and a third, Turkeys Reccep Tayyip Erdogan, over a trilateral pact for leading the war to eradicate ISIS in Syria and Iraq. When Trump ...

Creationists dont like The Clergy Letter Project, a strong, pro-evolution statement signed by over 13,000 Christian clergymen. Heres the Wikipedia article on it: Clergy Letter Project. The Project is exceedingly troublesome for creationists because it flatly contradicts their claim that one cant be a good Christian and also accept evolution. When we say the Clergy Letter is a strong statement, were not exaggerating. Part of it says: We believe that the theory of evolution is a foundational scientific truth, one that has stood up to rigorous scrutiny and upon which much of human knowledge and achievement rests. To reject this truth or to treat it as one theory ...
