Top Missile and Chemical Weapons Expert Debunks Trump’s Claims About Syrian Chemical Weapons
Post Date: 2017-04-14 10:11:33 by Deckard

The Trump administration claims that it has proof that the Syrian government dropped chemical weapons from an airplane on April 4th. But a top missile and chemical weapons expert told Washington’s Blog today that the weapon was not delivered by an airplane at all … Specifically, we called Dr. Theodore Postol, professor of science, technology, and national security policy at MIT.  Postol’s main expertise is in ballistic missiles. He has a substantial background in air dispersal, including how toxic plumes move in the air. Postol has taught courses on weapons of mass destruction – including chemical and biological threats – at MIT. Before joining MIT, Postol ...

Two Georgia police officers have been fired today after videos surfaced online showing a man being punched and kicked during a traffic stop, police said. The Gwinnett County Police Department in Lawrenceville, Georgia -- about 30 miles outside of Atlanta -- called the videos "shocking" and "disturbing" and announced today that two officers had been fired and that criminal investigations had begun. The first video to surface shows an officer kicking a handcuffed man in the head as he lays in the middle of a major roadway during a traffic stop. That officer, identified as Master Police Officer Robert McDonald, was terminated today, police said. A second video discovered ...

Asked about privacy changes, Sensenbrenner says internet usage is optional

Despite Republican dominance of federal power, GOP policymakers haven’t had any major legislative successes so far this year, though they have had some lower-profile victories. Take online privacy, for example. As regular readers know, the Obama administration approved privacy protections last year to stop internet service providers from selling information about their consumers’ browsing history without their knowledge or consent. Congressional Republicans and Donald Trump’s White House undid those rules. The Washington Post recently reported that service providers, including online giants such Verizon and Comcast (MSNBC’s parent company), will now be able to ...

Hillary Clinton wore $12,500 Armani jacket to talk about income inequality

On April 19, 2016, POTUS candidate Hillary Clinton was so tone-deaf that she actually wore a $12,500 Georgio Armani jacket to deliver a speech on income inequality. This is what the jacket looks like: The jacket inspired this clever email that’s making the rounds: I’m not sending this to blast Hillary for giving a speech about inequality while wearing a $12,500 Armani jacket. I’m posting this to congratulate Armani for being able to sell a potato sack with sleeves for $12,500, which, in this case, holds about 200 pounds of fertilizer. Poster Comment:The jacket is truly hideous, but even if it was gorgeous, Hillary would still be butt-ugly in it. There’s nothing ...

Marksville, LA — The officer-involved wounding of Christopher Few and the murder of his son Jeremy Mardis has taken a perverse and bizarre turn, if prosecutors of former Marksville, Lousiana Police Officer Norris Greenhouse, Jr. are to be believed. Marksville law enforcement officer, Derrick Stafford, was recently convicted of manslaughter and attempted manslaughter in the shooting that led to Mardis’ death, and Few’s close brush with death. Now it’s Greenhouse’s turn to be tried for second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder. In a recent court filing, Greenhouse was accused by prosecutors of having a habit of abusing the authority implicit in his badge ...

Cops who stop motorists to give them stuff are abusing their power. When Officer Cameron Burke pulled over Jenna Rodgers, a student at Warwick High School in Lititz, Pennsylvania, and told her she had exceeded the speed limit by 15 miles an hour, she was confused because she knew she hadn't. It turned out the traffic stop had been arranged by her boyfriend, Collin Kauffman, who approached her car holding a sign that said, "You're under arrest if you don't say yes. Prom?"Whether Kauffman's promposal strikes you as charming or alarming will depend on your attitude toward police and the restrictions imposed on them by the Constitution. Although everyone involved ...

Trump May Send Up To 50,000 Troops To Syria

It appears that Mike Cernovich, who earlier this week wrote that Trump's national security advisor, Gen. H.R.McMaster, was planning on sending as many as 150,000 troops to Syria, may have been right again. According to Bloomberg commentator Eli Lake, who has now made a habit of confirming Cernovich "conspiracy theories" (he did so previously with the Susan Rice scoop), Trump may be on the verge of escalating the proxy war in Syria by sending anywhere between 10,000 and 50,000 troops on the ground, and - if Cernovich is indeed correct - as much as three times more. Per Lake, after U-turning on attacking Syria last week and on a variety of economic policies yesterday, the ...

In an exclusive video interview with AFP news agency, he said "there was no order to make any attack". More than 80 people were killed in the rebel-held town of Khan Sheikhoun on 4 April, and hundreds suffered symptoms consistent with a nerve agent. Witnesses said they saw warplanes attack the town but Russia says a rebel depot of chemical munitions was hit.

William Norman Grigg died this afternoon. He was a journalist, broadcaster, editor, musician, father, husband, and a self-described Christian Individualist. He was also my hero. Will’s main beat was stories about individual victims of the state: particularly Americans who have been unjustly imprisoned or wrongfully assaulted by government officers. His research for each article was exhaustive. From his home in Idaho, he traveled all around the northwest to get the story in person. He would get to know each subject personally, and seek face-to-face interviews with their powerful persecutors. His tireless work has saved several innocent lives from being slowly drained away in prison. He ...

Dr. Jumana Nagarwala was arrested by the FBI Thursday and charged with carrying out female genital mutilation (FGM) on multiple six to eight-year-old girls at her Livonia, Michigan office. Dr. Nagarwala’s case is the first FGM prosecution in America under a new law aimed at the practice, according to a press release from the Department of Justice. The 11-page complaint issued accompanying her arrest makes guarded references to “members of a particular religious and cultural community.” FGM is common in the Islamic world, particularly in Africa. According to UNICEF, 98% of Somali girls, and 87% of Egyptians have endured the procedure. FGM involves removing varying amounts of ...

On Wednesday, president Trump managed to change his stance on four different policies that were key campaign promises he made to voters. Here are the four issues he has flip-flopped on to: 1. Labeling China a currency manipulatorSpeaking with the Wall Street Journal on Wednesday, Trump indicated that because China is not “artificially deflating the value of its currency,” he doesn’t feel as if it would be appropriate to label them as a currency manipulator.“They’re not currency manipulators,” Trump said in the interview, arguing that China hasn’t manipulated their currency for months. Trump also added that he did not want to make any moves that would derail ...

Crystalline materials similar to these can now harvest water vapor from the air.You can’t squeeze blood from a stone, but wringing water from the desert sky is now possible, thanks to a new spongelike device that uses sunlight to suck water vapor from air, even in low humidity. The device can produce nearly 3 liters of water per day, and researchers say future versions will be even better. That means homes in the driest parts of the world could soon have a solar-powered appliance capable of delivering all the water they need, offering relief to billions of people. The new water harvester is made of metal organic framework crystals pressed into a thin sheet of copper metal and placed ...

In this false color map, the white regions depict galaxies, while the red regions depict the presence of the dark matter “bridge.” For the first time ever, astronomers have an image of the “bridge” that ties galaxies together. Captured by researchers at the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada, the composite image is proof that dark matter acts as a giant intergalactic web that connects galaxies throughout space and time. Their findings were published in Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society. Dark matter is an invisible force that doesn’t emit or reflect light, and is only detectable through gravity. It makes up around 27 percent of the ...

Rep. Peter Roskam (R-IL) went on with Stewart Varney on Thursday morning to discuss recent developments on Capitol Hill. Roskam told Stewart House Republicans are planning of filing criminal charges against Lois Lerner. Rep. Roskam: The Obama Administration was very lenient with the crimes that Lois Lerner committed. And those are strong words that I’m using but the House Ways and Means Committee voted out a criminal referral to the Department of Justice which was completely dismissed by the Department of Justice… We think that Lois Lerner did two things wrong. Number one, she denied people due process and equal protection of the law based on their political philosophy. ...

No one needs to look for tarot cards to figure out why Donald Trump ordered the USS Carl Vinson task group to sail for the Korean peninsula — he’s sending a message to North Korea. That message was already received in Pyongyang, but as Bloomberg reports today, it has been picked up by our allies too, with varying degrees of public enthusiasm. South Korea and Japan have played down the significance of the move and are sending signals of their own back to Washington to tread carefully: South Korea doesn’t support a preemptive strike and is closely coordinating with the Trump administration, according to an Asian government official familiar with North Korean issues ...

Today it was dropped in Afghanistan, the first time the bomb has ever been used in combat. From CNN: The bomb was dropped by an MC-130 aircraft, operated by Air Force Special Operations Command, according to the military sources. Of course the kitchen at Mar-a-Lago is disgusting. As a businessman, President Donald Trump made his name by hawking products and services that sounded glitzy and fabulous but were actually very bad. (See: Trump University, Trump Steaks, Trump Airlines.) So it makes perfect sense that the restaurant at his so-called “Winter White House” is no different. The Miami Herald on Thursday published the most recent inspection reports from Mar-a-Lago’s kitchen, which show 13 violations, including some that are just plain dangerous. Some highlights: ▪ Fish designed to be served raw or undercooked, the inspection report reads, had not undergone proper parasite destruction. Kitchen ...

The Deep State and Gramscian/Alinskyite Institutions

Many call the idea that there's a Deep State a “conspiracy theory”. But is this automatically the case? Don't we need good reasons as to why it's so? Is the idea impossible in principle? And doesn't it all depend on precisely what's said about the Deep State? For example, the notion of a Deep State can include a vast conspiracy behind closed doors. Alternatively (or perhaps in conjunction), it can simply be about (among other things) what I call Gramscian/Alinskyite institutions and the consequent conspiring which undoubtedly occurs when institutions (or their members) share a political ideology and/or political causes and goals. It seems bizarre, ...
