Republicans exempt their own insurance from their latest health care proposal Post Date: 2017-04-26 10:55:42 by HomerBohn

Republican legislators want to keep popular Obamacare provisions for themselves and their staff. House Republicans appear to have included a provision that exempts Members of Congress and their staff from their latest health care plan. The new Republican amendment, introduced Tuesday night, would allow states to waive out of Obamacares ban on pre-existing conditions. This means that insurers could once again, under certain circumstances, charge sick people higher premiums than healthy people. Republican legislators liked this policy well enough to offer it in a new amendment. They do not, however, seem to like it enough to have it apply to themselves and their staff. A ...

The Trump Age is the age of soft illusions. And Ivanka Trump is the crown jewelWe take no pleasure in typing this internet article, but the evidence doesn't lie: Ivanka Trump is almost certainly a Moloch-worshipping weirdo who is going to get us all killed or worse, force us to buy her dumb clothes. With the ascendance of public relations, glossy magazines specifically designed to murder brain cells, and cosmetic dentistry, we inhabit a world that delights in self-soothing images and scorns anything that might unsettle our McDonald's-filled stomachs. In this context, Ivanka Trump is Peak Photoshop she's a manufactured image of human ...

Autism could now be added to the lengthy and perpetually-expanding list of afflictions and symptoms treatable with the one product of nature shamefully prohibited by the federal government the miracle palliative, cannabis. One in every 68 children in the United States is now affected by autism, and the number of kids coping with the developmental disorder has been increasing at an explosive rate in recent years. With onset most common during infancy and early childhood, autism can impact social and communication skills and may cause repetitive or compulsive behaviors, among other manifestations. Now, fresh evidence again frowns upon U.S. federal prohibition of cannabis ...

As President Trump closes in on 100 days in office, an overwhelming majority of Americans who voted for him say they don't regret doing so. In a new ABC News-Washington Post poll, 96 percent of Trump voters say supporting the former New York businessman was the right thing to do, while only 2 percent regret their vote. That poll contrasts with the president's current approval rating, which sits around 42 percent. On "Fox & Friends Weekend," Connell McShane said the wide difference shows voters are willing to give Trump more time to get his agenda through.

Polls Show Record Number of Americans Want More Government Intervention and Spending Post Date: 2017-04-26 09:35:13 by Deckard

Isnt it interesting how, no matter which political party is in charge, the government continues to grow? This is especially puzzling, since Republican voters and politicians are supposedly supportive of small government. Youd think that the size of the government would ebb and flow over time, as Democrats increase spending and Republicans roll back government growth when they get into office. However, that never happens, and theres a very simple reason why. On Sunday, an NBC/Wall Street Journal poll showed that 57% of Americans wanted the government to do more to solve problems, which is the most support for government intervention since the poll began in 1995. That ...

Running red lights can get you a ticket. But in Oregon, you can be fined just for talking about it. Mats Järlström learned this first-hand last year when the state of Oregon fined him $500 for publicly suggesting that yellow lights should last for slightly longer to accommodate cars making right turns. Mats is a tinkerer. In the great tradition of American inventors and scientists who got their start working in their garage or basement, Mats saw a problem and set out to fix itthat is, until the Oregon State Board of Examiners for Engineering and Land Surveying brought everything to a screeching halt. It all started when Matss wife received a red-light camera ticket, ...

Jacksonville, FL - A Raines High School teacher has been fired after multiple arrests and excessive unauthorized leave without pay. Jason Perry has been arrested four times over roughly the past two year, with the DCPS investigation starting from the most recent incident. The School Board voted Tuesday night to suspend Perry without pay pending termination. In March 2015, the DCPS investigation says Perry was arrested by the Clay County Sheriffs Office for making repeated harassing phone calls, which is a misdemeanor charge. GRAND RAPIDS, MI - Video footage released by the Grand Rapids Police Department shows at least eight officers responded to detain five unarmed black youths March 24 after a report of a fight at basketball courts nearby. The videos show one of the detained youths wailing and crying as he lay on the ground with his hands stretched above his head. Officers drew their weapons on the youths because they had received a report that one of them might be armed. "Can you please put the gun down?" one of the boys asked. Another youth is heard saying, "I do not want to die, bro." The youths try to tell the officers that they have video on their phones of what happened, as one ...

Now that we see that Donald Trump is going to abandon the platform on which he won his election, and return the Republican Party to its establishmentarianglobalist, neo-conservativeways, we are once again given proof of the fundamental loss of citizenship in this nation. The people, the supposed citizenseven those who votehave no real influence over the candidates they put in office. It is for certain that they elected Trump with the idea that he would keep us out of foreign wars, maybe even out of NATO and Japan, that he would get rid of Obamacare (and no one said he had to fix it), that he would abolish the Ex-Im Bank, that he would in short undo the ...

The man who was fatally shot by a homeowner as he showered may have been confused after hitting several bars with friends and possibly thought he had returned to his friends house just two doors down from the home he entered. The fatal shooting early Saturday in Belfair, Washington, may be a case of wrong place, wrong time, Mason County Prosecutor Michael Dorcy told KING5. Dorcy said investigators have learned that Nathaniel Rosa, 31, visited some bars in Belfair on Friday with several friends, one of whom was about to be deployed to Afghanistan. Those friends reported that Rosa, an elementary school teacher, then went to one of their homes, just two ...

Gaithersburg, MD Guns Loaded? Check
Extra Ammunition? Check
Bullet-proof protective vests? Check
Right home address? Uh oh! In yet another SWAT Team flub, a home has been raided, and its occupants beaten. However, once again, the police went to the wrong address. The Carroll County Sheriffs Office in Gaithersburg admits they got it all wrong when they burst into Israel Orellanas home in Montgomery County. Orellana has the same name as the man police were searching for in a gun theft case. But still, incredibly, Carroll County got a warrant to search the wrong address. Worse yet, the group of people gathered in the home were church goers who were ...

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- A federal judge on Tuesday blocked any attempt by the Trump administration to withhold funding from "sanctuary cities" that do not cooperate with U.S. immigration authorities, saying the president has no authority to attach new conditions to federal spending. U.S. District Judge William Orrick issued the preliminary injunction in two lawsuits - one brought by the city of San Francisco, the other by Santa Clara County - against an executive order targeting communities that protect immigrants from deportation. The injunction will stay in place while the lawsuits work their way through court. The judge said that President Donald Trump cannot set new ...

New Orleans Is Wrong To Remove Its Confederate MonumentsThe progressive impulse to purge public spaces of Confederate monuments isnt about inclusion and tolerance, its about politics and power. In the early morning hours of Monday, masked men in black bulletproof vests gathered at the Battle of Liberty Place in downtown New Orleans. They arrived in flatbed trucks, the name of the company on the trucks sides concealed by tape and cardboard. Snipers took up positions on nearby rooftops. This wasnt the scene of a bank heist or a mob hit. The snipers were New Orleans police, and the workers were under contract with the city. They were there to tear down a 126-year-old ...

For his first show in the 8 pm time slot, Tucker Carlson spoke with Caitlyn Jenner tonight in an interview that touched on everything from President Trump to her personal journey. Jenner again brought up her disappointment with the president for not doing more to take a stand on LGBT rights. However, shes still a conservative Republican, and Carlson asked her why she didnt vote for Hillary Clinton in the last election since she was clearly more pro-LGBT rights. Jenner said that shes not a one-issue voter and thinks it would be much easier to try and push the GOP to be better on LGBT issues than to try and push the Democrats to do things like lower taxes. Carlson asked ...

For the French establishment, Sundays presidential election came close to a near-death experience. As the Duke of Wellington said of Waterloo, it was a damn near-run thing. Neither candidate of the two major parties that have ruled France since Charles De Gaulle even made it into the runoff, an astonishing repudiation of Frances national elite. Marine Le Pen of the National Front ran second with 21.5 percent of the vote. Emmanuel Macron of the new party En Marche! won 23.8 percent. Macron is a heavy favorite on May 7. The Republicans Francois Fillon, who got 20 percent, and the Socialists Benoit Hamon, who got less than 7 percent, both have urged their ...

Then Gianforte, declaring his support for the Second Amendment, raises a rifle and shoots the computer screen to bits. The ad is the latest in a long tradition of candidates shooting objects in campaign commercials. Gianforte, who will face Democrat Rob Quist in a May 25 special election for the Montana at-large congressional seat, claims Quist supports such a registry. Quist did ...

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton planned an aggressive push on a dozen policies for her first 100 days in the White House, including raising the minimum wage, investing in infrastructure, and reforming the nation's immigration system. But following her stunning Electoral College defeat on November 8, the Democratic nominee faced her first truly retired days in decades and the prospect of a wildly different presidency than the one she had promised. After conceding to Donald Trump in a gracious speech, Clinton tried to lay low. But she and a neighbor in New York, who said she was "heartbroken" after the election, had the same idea on November 10: A ...

Worth County, GA Children feel violated, parents are furious, and a lawsuit is getting filed after the Worth County Sheriffs office conducted an illegal search of 900 students in the name of the war on drugs. The rights-violating intrusive and aggressive patdowns and drug dog searches yielded absolutely nothing. On April 14, when the students of Worth County High School returned from spring break, they arrived at school to find a police state had taken over. The sheriff and his deputies with no probable cause detained and illegally searched every single child in the school, all 900 of them. When kids went home that day to tell their parents what happened, ...

A federal judge declared a mistrial Monday after jurors deadlocked in the case of six men accused of taking up arms against federal agents during the Bundy Ranch standoff in 2014. Jurors convicted two defendants on multiple counts but could not reach a unanimous verdict against four others. Jurors told lawyers after court Monday they never came close to convicting four defendants, voting 10-2 in favor of acquitting two and splitting on the others, according to one of the defense lawyers. Moreover, jurors did not find any of the six defendants guilty on the two main conspiracy charges that made up the core of the governments case, dealing a blow to federal prosecutors who ...
