ST. PAUL When a former paramedic saw a man bleeding in a St. Paul road, it never occurred to her to not stop to help. But Christie Jones said her actions as a good Samaritan in 2013 ran up against a St. Paul police officer who struck her in the chest when she tried to warn him about being exposed to the man's blood. Jones, who was 48 at the time and is disabled, said the officer soon twisted her hands behind her back, handcuffed her and cited her for obstructing legal process, a charge that was later dismissed."All she was there to do was help and she ended up in the back of the squad in handcuffs," said Zorislav Leyderman, Jones' attorney.Jones filed a federal ...

MACON, Ga. Once a month, a cardboard box from Colorado appears at the office of a conservative Christian lawmaker in central Georgia, filled with derivatives of marijuana, to be distributed around the state in the shadows of the law. Operating in ways he hopes will avoid felony charges of drug trafficking, state Rep. Allen Peake is taking matters into his own hands. He's shepherding cannabis oil to hundreds of sick people who are now allowed by the state to possess marijuana, but have no legal way of obtaining it. "We're going to do whatever it takes to be able to help get product to these families, these citizens who have debilitating illnesses," Peake said. He spoke ...

Morning and Evening Charles H. Spurgeon April 28, 2017 Morning Reading Remember the word unto Thy servant, upon which Thou hast caused me to hope. Psalm 119:49 Whatever your especial need may be, you may readily find some promise in the Bible suited to it. Are you faint and feeble because your way is rough and you are weary? Here is the promise-"He giveth power to the faint." When you read such a promise, take it back to the great Promiser, and ask Him to fulfil His own word. Are you seeking after Christ, and thirsting for closer communion with Him? This promise shines like a star upon you-"Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they ...

An Ohio couple, Christian and Katie Maple, lost custody of one of their children after they disagreed with the schools mental health assessment of their child. Camden Maple, a seven-year-old boy, has five siblings and enjoys Star Wars, Pokémon, football, video games, and Legos. He loves to write stories and draws comic books. While this sounds like an ordinary, creative, imaginative American little boy who can, according to his mom, be rambunctious at times, his school said that he needed mental health help. While the school diagnosed him with ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder), his parents, who know him better than anyone else, believe that his ...

Donald Trumps first one hundred days in office have been clouded by an unprecedented obfuscation campaign by Democrats, some Republicans, the establishment news media and a coalition of outside agitators attempting to disrupt the billionaires presidential agenda, smear top administration officials, sow seeds of chaos, and delegitimize his already historic presidency. Pre-Inauguration A review of events is instructive. Even before Trump took office, the attempts to delegitimize the billionaire kicked into high gear when Hillary Clintons campaign joined the improbable recount efforts led by Green Party candidate Jill Stein. When those efforts failed miserably, the Clinton ...

Ronald Bernard is a Dutch entrepreneur whose drive and business contacts quickly catapulted him into the world of the financial elite. However, the deeper into this world Bernard went, the more horrifying it became. In a jaw-dropping interview with De Vrije Media, Bernard details this dark and depraved elite society which conducted human sacrifice and celebrated destruction. To not sound like crazed tinfoil ranting kooks, we will admit that the things Bernard mentions in the interview below sound utterly insane and evil. In an effort to vet his credibility, however, the Free Thought Project did some background research on him, and it checks out. He is who he says he is. Pascal ...

Is Slower “Safer”? Post Date: 2017-04-28 05:03:56 by Deckard

The mantra is that Slow is Safe. But Slow is often also oblivious and sloppy. Which tends to be dangerous, the opposite of safe. The priests and priestesses, more often of The Safety Cult have not noticed. The other day, I rolled up behind a car descending a mountain pass. The speed limit is 55 the car was moping along at about 38 MPH. No, moping isnt exactly the right word. It was randomly sashaying left then right, onto the shoulder then across the double yellow. But well below the The Speed Limit. By Clover Standards, the person behind the wheel was thus, ipso facto, a Safe Driver. Exceeding The Speed Limit is a kind of ...

BERKELEY, Calif. Police at the University of California at Berkeley braced on Thursday for potential civil unrest stemming from a now-canceled speaking engagement by conservative commentator Ann Coulter following a recent spate of politically charged violence on or near the campus. Coulter, one of America's best-known and most provocative pundits on the political right, said on Wednesday that she no longer intended to defy university officials by addressing UC Berkeley students on campus this week. "Its sickening when a radical thuggish institution like Berkeley can so easily snuff out the cherished American right to free speech," tweeted Coulter on Wednesday. ...

U.S. President Donald Trump said on Thursday a major conflict with North Korea is possible in the standoff over its nuclear and missile programs, but he would prefer a diplomatic outcome to the dispute. President Trumps latest moves on the Paris agreement are depending on your point of view either a masterstroke of realpolitik by a consummate dealmaker or a shameful fudge: he has decided to kick the can down the road by leaving the decision up to the Senate. This isnt, of course, what he promised on the campaign trail. In May last year in North Dakota he was quite explicit: Were going to cancel the Paris Climate Agreement and stop all payments of U.S. tax dollars to UN global warming programs. What he probably wasnt banking on, though, when he made that commitment was that it wouldnt just be the liberals and greenies hed be battling ...

U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions visited El Paso last week as part of his tour of cities along the U.S.-Mexico border. Upon arrival, the former senator from Alabama promptly put his foot in his mouth. According to the El Paso Times, when Sessions addressed the media in El Paso he essentially likened the city to a war zone, using terms like ground zero, beachhead, and the front lines. As I learned first-hand last week in Nogales, it is here, on this sliver of land where we establish a beachhead against the cartels, against the transnational street gangs like MS-13, and the human traffickers, Sessions told reporters after he and Department ...
