OPEC, the oil cartel really cares about the world. Thats the message of a new monthly report issued Thursday. OPEC says what the world needs now is a bit less supply on the global oil market. In particular, they would really appreciate it if the United States would stop producing so much damn oil
for the good of the world of course. From CNN Money: The report said that balancing the market would require the collective efforts of all oil producers and should be done not only for the benefit of the individual countries, but also for the general prosperity of the world economy. OPEC said that one producer in particular is to blame: The U.S., where shale ...

Administrators at St. Olafs College revealed in an email that a racist note that led to a week-long series of protests on campus was fabricated. A racist note, that sparked week-long protest efforts by students at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota, was fabricated, according to administrators. The note, which threatened a black female student and used an ethnic slur, was concocted as part of an ill-conceived attempt at political activism. This was not a genuine threat, St. Olaf President David R. Anderson wrote on Wednesday to students. Were confident that there is no ongoing threat from this incident to individuals or the ...

After three days of occupation by students of Kerr Hall, Chancellor George Blumenthal agreed to give all black and Caribbean-identified students a 4-year housing guarantee to live in the Rosa Parks ...

By Carey Wedler One-third of FDA-approved drugs were later found to have safety risks, according to a recent analysis of drugs cleared by the agency between 2001 and 2010. According to the study, published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, Among 222 novel therapeutics approved by the FDA from 2001 through 2010, 71 (32.0%) were affected by a postmarket safety event. A postmarket safety event includes (1) withdrawals due to safety concerns, (2) FDA issuance of incremental boxed warnings added in the postmarket period, and (3) FDA issuance of safety communications. The researchers, many of them from Yale University, found these events were more common ...

Why Don’t Americans Trust The Federal Government? Post Date: 2017-05-11 05:52:44 by Deckard

Why do polls continue to indicate that the American people feel forgotten and mistrust the federal government? The Pew Research Center has released its annual poll numbers regarding the percentage of Americans who trust the federal government. The release of these new polls add to a growing amount of evidence that the publics view of the federal government has been in a steady decline for decades. The Pew Research Centers sampled 1,501 adults between April 5th to the 11th. Only 20 percent of those polled said they trust the government to do what is right always or most of the time. A whopping 68 percent admitted that they only trusted the government ...
The House of Representatives Endorses Obamacare (GOP Loves Obamacare Just not the name) Post Date: 2017-05-11 05:19:48 by Deckard

Last week, the U.S. House of Representatives crafted a partisan compromise bill that endorsed and reinforced the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare. This was done notwithstanding claims to the contrary by President Donald Trump and the House Republican leadership, who want us to believe that this bill, if it becomes law, will effectively repeal and replace Obamacare. Obamacare is a stool with four problematic legs. The constitutional leg is the premise that the federal government has the lawful power to regulate the delivery of health care. The legal leg is the premise that the federal government is obliged to provide health insurance to everyone in America. The economic leg commands that ...
Why Is Michigan Still Forcing Minors to Take Unconstitutional Breathalyzer Tests? Post Date: 2017-05-11 05:06:10 by Deckard

A new bill may end this absurd practiceMichigan is the only state in the country to penalize minors for refusing to take breathalyzer testseven if they're not driving. Despite multiple federal court decisions finding the practice unconstitutional, the state persists in the practice of testing kids for booze. This has enraged former attorney and State Rep. Peter Lucido (RShelby), who has introduced legislation to bring Michigan law and police practices in line with the Constitution. "By exercising their constitutionally guaranteed right to say no," he says of minors who refuse Preliminary Breath Tests or (PBTs) "they get a two point violation and $100 ...

Special Cinco de Mayo Greetings from Chicano Icon Che Guevara Post Date: 2017-05-10 13:38:49 by Tooconservative

Mexicans are mostly a rabble of illiterate indians (Che Guevara, 1955). In the historic annals of unrequited love few cases rival the affair by Chicanos with Che Guevara. I trust Ches iconization is sufficiently documented by U.S. Chicano groups in their murals (i.e. graffiti.) They seem to plaster this lily white Argentinian racists mug on practically everything they paint to celebrate their Amerindian Aztec culture. Go figure. Perhaps a word with some Bolivian Amerindians who actually experienced Che Guevaras plans to Stalinize their culture would help. In 1967 these (overwhelmingly indigenous) Bolivians (with help from U.S. Green Berets) made short ...

It has only been a little over one month since four Carroll High School sophomores announced their plans to solicit donations for the Carroll Police Departments K-9 unit. In early April, Kayde Nissen, Merkl Kauch, Tyler Tuning and Tyler Comstock expanded on a class project that only called for them to come up with a fundraising idea. They put that plan into action, and though the Carroll Police Department has not had a K-9 in service since 2007, Chief, Brad Burke, reports they are getting much closer. As of Tuesday, the K-9 fund has raised $6,375. The fundraising efforts continue as the cost of acquiring and training a new K-9 officer can be up to or more than $20,000. For those ...

It’s not just Comey: the scary past 24 hours in Trump-Russia, explained Post Date: 2017-05-10 12:41:46 by Willie Green

The Comey firing is rightly dominating the news. Amazingly, though, it wasnt the only major development in the ongoing and intensifying Trump-Russia scandal. The official reason for FBI Director Jim Comeys dismissal is that he mishandled the Hillary Clinton email investigation, something many Democrats surely agree with. But the more convincing explanation is that Comey had infuriated the president by having the FBI launch a formal criminal probe into the Trump campaigns possible ties to Russia. But the Comey story buried other huge Russia-related developments that came to light yesterday and this morning that you should really be following. What follows is a quick guide to ...
3 inspiring stories of citizens supporting police Post Date: 2017-05-10 12:36:27 by Gatlin

Three recent gems of underreported good news show that pro-cop sentiment does exist in American citizens, and you can see it plainly if you look hard enough. The anti-police sentiment which now pervades our public discourse particularly in mainstream national press and on social media is not an accurate reflection of how the majority of Americans feel about their law enforcement officers. I am of the opinion that the overwhelming majority of Americans appreciate and admire their police officers. However, I think theyre a silent majority. Most law-abiding citizens proceed with their daily lives without even thinking about their police. People are more prone ...

The FBI interviewed almost every terrorist who successfully struck America News just broke that President Trump is dismissing the director of the FBI, James Comey. Comey will inevitably be remembered for the controversial role he played in the 2016 presidential election, where his agency conducted surveillance of the Trump campaign as well as investigated the Clinton camp for mishandling classified materials, giving both sides arguments for how the FBI ultimately swayed the vote. But even before the 2016 campaign, the FBI endured a number of humiliations under Comey's tenure. Most damning were revelations that the FBI was generally aware of almost every terrorist who successfully ...

While Beijing is preparing to hold the One Belt, One Road Forum for International Cooperation on May 14-15, Xinhua has stepped forward to bust the myth that China's New Silk Road project is essentially a Marshall Plan 2.0. China's New Silk Road Project has nothing to do with America's post-WWII Marshall Plan, China's state-run media outlet Xinhua argues. "Why do Western commentators stuck with a Cold War mindset consider the Chinese Belt and Road initiative the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st-century Maritime Silk Road a modern version of the American Marshall Plan aimed at restoring Europe after Second World War?" the media outlet asked. ...
