Get your ass to Pittsburgh, barked the man whose hand was on one of the many money spigots that are irrigating the Biden administrations industrial policy. The barker, as reported by the Wall Street Journal, was Jigar Shah, head of the Energy Departments Loan Programs Office whose lending capacity has been increased 10-fold, to $400 billion, by Congress. The person on the other end of the phone call, a business executive, obediently met Shah at a clean energy conference in Pittsburgh, and five months later had a $375 million LPO loan. Ford and its battery manufacturing partner have received from the LPO $9.2 billion that, presumably, private capital markets ...

IMF Cancels Nobel Prize Winner’s Seminar on Climate Models Post Date: 2023-07-24 23:45:21 by Charles_Byrd

Rather than have their carefully constructed narrative that anthropogenic climate change is a global emergency threatened by a Nobel Prize winner, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has chosen to cancel a seminar on climate-change modeling by Dr. John Clauser. Clauser, one of three winners of the 2022 Nobel Prize for his work on quantum information and encryption, was scheduled to present a Zoom talk on July 25. The IMF is heavily engaged in financial strategies that focus on the climate-emergency narrative, while Clauser has recently revealed that he doesnt believe that there is a climate crisis, having called that notion a dangerous corruption of science. ...

We already knew electric vehicles dont do so well when it gets really cold outside. Well, apparently they dont really like extreme heat either. According to Automotive News, the recent heat wave across much of the Southern and Western U.S. has brought their range issue to the forefront. A Seattle-based EV battery and range analytics company called Recurrent has reportedly tested thousands of vehicles in various weather conditions. It found that many vehicles experienced significant declines in their range as temperatures rose. Some apparently suffered a 31 percent drop when temps got about 100 degrees Fahrenheit. That is less than ideal. At cooler temperatures, the ...

There are few organizations as patently stupid and dishonest as Politifact, the left-wing farce of supposed fairness that puts its thumb on the scale every chance it gets. This chicanery was on full display last week after they fact-checked a claim about a decade-old undercover videos of Lila Rose and the Live Action crew. Lila Grace wrote on Instagram, Planned Parenthood must be shut down. Not only do they aid and abet sex traffickers, but they also traffic and sell the body parts and organs of children. Lessons from The Great Depression Post Date: 2023-07-22 01:59:03 by Charles_Byrd

Longtime correspondent Ishabaka recently shared key takeaways from a classic on-the-ground account of The Great Depression in the U.S.:, The Great Depression, a Diary. Another reader reminded me that The Great Depression was global, and occurred earlier that 1929 in other nations and had equally (or even more) calamitous consequences elsewhere. That said, humans are running Wetware 1.0 everywhere, so it's likely that many of these lessons are applicable to the collapse of speculative asset bubbles in other economies and eras-- for instance, the global economy's Everything Bubble of 2023. The Vilnius Summit Communique is a crude attempt to NATO-ize Washingtons list of enemies in order to enlist broader support for the impending global conflict. The intended targets of this campaign are Russia and China, the main opponents of the so-called rules-based order. Neither of these countries pose a direct security threat to NATO or the United States, but their sudden re-emergence on the Asian continent makes them Washingtons de facto enemy. The United States is determined to dominate Central Asia, which means that all potential rivals must be contained or crushed. The purpose of the Vilnius Communiqué is to identify these rivals, divulge their alleged ...

COBALT is essential to modern technology. All sorts of electronic devices rely on it, along with other elements such as lithium. Solar panels and electric vehicles (EVs) wouldnt function without them. While the environmental degradation associated with both lithium and cobalt extraction is well established, the issues around cobalt are even more poignant because of the manner in which it is mined in the Democratic Republic of Congo. A new book, Cobalt Red: How the blood of the Congo powers our lives, published in January this year, details the human suffering, especially of children, directly involved in the mining. Written by a Nottingham University professor, Siddartha Kara, from ...
