Getting Butthurt in Debates Shouldn’t Prevent Libertarians From Working Together Post Date: 2017-07-10 05:26:51 by Gatlin

Theres already plenty of articles about how libertarians shouldnt be as divided as we are and how the infighting will prevent us from making progress, but theres a specific item that I wanted to address in regards to this division between different factions of libertarians. It has been highlighted to me most recently by the current dispute between some Anarchyball editor, and Jared Howe, and recent debates between anarchists and minarchists. These debates always seem to be end in hurt feelings, or plain ad hominem attacks. Open borders supporters call closed border supporters fascists, while the latter calls the former communists. Anarchists claim that minarchists need ...

.] Americans were not always pragmatic and nonideological. On the contrary, historians now realize that the American Revolution itself was not only ideological but also the result of devotion to the creed and the institutions of libertarianism. The American revolutionaries were steeped in the creed of libertarianism, an ideology which led them to resist with their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor the invasions of their rights and liberties committed by the imperial British government. Historians have long debated the precise causes of the American Revolution: Were they constitutional, economic, political, or ideological? We now realize that, being libertarians, the ...

Republicanism is the guiding political philosophy of the United States. It has been a major part of American civic thought since its founding. [1] It stresses liberty and unalienable individual rights as central values, making people sovereign as a whole, rejects monarchy, aristocracy and inherited political power, expects citizens to be independent in their performance of civic duties, and vilifies corruption. [2] American republicanism was founded and first practiced by the Founding Fathers in the 18th century. For them, according to one team of historians, "republicanism represented more than a particular form of government. It was a way of life, a core ideology, an uncompromising ...

Jackson, KY Most people may see nothing wrong with a town councilman becoming a police offer, but what if that councilman cop also owns an ambulance company, and begins pulling over competing ambulancesthen does he have too much power? The answer is still No in the city of Jackson, Kentucky, despite the fact that the taxpayer-funded Kentucky Association of Counties is now paying a $26,000 settlement to Emergency Medical Technician Jason Crigger. Crigger filed a lawsuit against Breathitt County Special Deputy and Councilman Steve McIntosh, claiming that McIntosh had no legitimate reason to pull over the ambulance he was driving in June 2016. ...

Journalist Heather Bryant, a John S. Knight Fellow at Stanford, recently described a conversation she had with another journalist at a conference in which she was asked what her husband did for a living: Hes a truck driver and a mechanic.
Oh. Yeah, right now he drives for a trash company. That must be
an interesting perspective to have around. While they didnt explicitly say it, the person was very ...

Greenland just broke the record for the coldest July day ever recorded in the Northern Hemisphere at -33C. But as Tony Heller notes, whats even more interesting than the temperature record is the way the climate alarmists have tried to spin it. In fact they lie. Almost all Greenlands surface is gaining ice. In fact, says Heller, Greenland has gained a near record amount of ice this year, and the ice is melting very slowly. Its hard not to agree with his conclusion: Climate science is not a science. It is a criminal venture intended to extort money from the public. Whatever they are doing, has nothing to do with science.

She said: Our number one and top priority is to protect and defend our community. It is not to assimilate and to please any other people in authority. Our obligation is to our young people, is to our women, to make sure our women are protected in our community, and our top priority, even higher than all those priorities, is to please Allah and only ...

Oral sex is producing dangerous gonorrhoea and a decline in condom use is helping it to spread, the World Health Organization has said. It warns that if someone contracts gonorrhoea, it is now much harder to treat, and in some cases impossible. The sexually transmitted infection is rapidly developing resistance to antibiotics. Experts said the situation was "fairly grim" with few new drugs on the horizon. About 78 million people pick up the STI each year and it can cause infertility. The World Health Organization analysed data from 77 countries which showed gonorrhoea's resistance to antibiotics was widespread. Dr Teodora Wi, from the WHO, said there had even been ...
Almost a Quarter of Americans Now Want ‘Organic’ Water Post Date: 2017-07-08 08:52:46 by cranky

Joining the ranks of sommelier-recommended milk, single-origin beef, and single-udder butter is Americas first certified-organic water, Asarasi. It bills itself as the purest form of water in the world, and is a product harvested from the sap of maple trees to ensure its free of all impurities. (Immediately after which, naturally, its force-carbonated.) Call it what you want more evidence that the U.S. premium-water market is out of hand? but the truly surprising fact is that market research shows nearly 25 percent of Americans now claim theyd actually choose organic water over normal water. Honestly, what this ...

It was a vote that saw ten of the states Republican contingent abandon Republican values and join the Democrats in approval. Thursdays vote permanently increases the ...
