Abstract Past research shows that members of Congress are informed traders, i.e., that they earn abnormal returns while in office. This important research does not identify whether being elected leads to informed trading or whether informed traders are selected into office. OK. When I first saw this, I faulted the driver of the car. Seems obvious. But then I looked again and saw a few mitigating factors.The two cyclists were going slow, side-by-side on a two lane road where the speed limit had to be at least 55.Second, this was a no-passing area (double yellow line), meaning there was no way to legally get around them.
