The news highlights the small US military presence in Ukraine, although it’s unclear how many US troops are there. Lawmakers are looking for answers on the destruction of 30 million tax documents by the Internal Revenue Service in March 2021. Congressman David Schweikert, R-Ariz., and Congressman Jason Smith, R-Mo., of the House Ways and Means Committee, wrote a letter to IRS commissioner Daniel Werfel on Tuesday asking for the memorandum that explained the recommendation for the "unprocessed, paper-filed informational returns." According to a July 12, 2023, article by Ryan Grim published by The Intercept,1 U.S. House Republicans investigating the origin of COVID-19 “appear to have inadvertently released a trove of new documents … that shed light on deliberations among the scientists who drafted a key paper in February and March of 2020.” The paper in question is “The Proximal Origin of Sars-Cov-2,”2 a letter to the editor of Nature Medicine published March 17, 2020. Three Liberal College Professors to Undergo First Amendment Training

As part of a court settlement, three liberal college professors at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) will undergo training in basic First Amendment rights by lawyers from Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF). The settlement also requires that SIUE revise its rules and student handbook to prevent future instances of the gross infringement of First Amendment rights of a grad student that occurred in 2022. The school will also pay $80,000 in damages.

A man in the United Kingdom entered an Aldi store and immediately became a warrior for freedom by standing against a cashless society as the police were called because he tried to buy some strawberries with hard currency despite the store's ban on cash transactions. A civilian was wounded in a Ukrainian drone attack on Moscow early Sunday morning, Russia’s TASS news agency reported, citing Russian emergency services. The Russian Defense Ministry said three drones targeted the Russian capital. It said one was shot down, and two were “suppressed by electronic warfare” capabilities and crashed into a building complex in Moscow’s business district. A super political action committee (PAC), founded by former President Trump, is expected to disclose its spending more than $40 million in legal bills. Sources told The Washington Post that the PAC, Save America, is expected to disclose the sum, $40.2 million, in a filing Monday. The sum is more than any other expense the Trump-led PAC has incurred in its 2024 presidential campaign, also more than what the campaign raised during the second quarter of 2023, according to federal filings. A shooting at a large party in Indiana early Sunday morning left one person dead, police said. A hospital said 19 people were being treated for injuries at its facility. Muncie police responded to multiple reports of gunfire on the city's east side just after 1 a.m., The Star Press reported.
