A military judge ruled Friday that Bowe Bergdahl should serve no prison time for endangering his comrades by walking off his Afghanistan post. The sentence caps a politically divisive episode that centered on one soldier's decision that affected many other lives. President Barack Obama was criticized for trading Taliban prisoners to bring him back. As a presidential candidate, Donald Trump had called for Bergdahl to face stiff punishment. The judge also gave Bergdahl a dishonorable discharge, reduced his rank to private and said he must forfeit pay equal to $1,000 per month for 10 months. The judge made no other comments. Bergdahl appeared tense, grimaced and clenched his jaw. His ...

Army Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl (left) arrived at the Fort Bragg courtroom Thursday.Army prosecutors recommended Thursday that Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl, who has pleaded guilty to deserting his Army post in Afghanistan, spend 14 years in prison and be stripped of most benefits afforded to military veterans, including health care. Bergdahl’s lawyers, citing medical experts’ determination that prison time could exacerbate his fragile mental health, have suggested he receive a dishonorable discharge only, which in addition to the loss of health care could greatly complicate his future employment options. The judge, Army Colonel Jeffery Nance, closed the court before noon Thursday to ...

Ville Platte, LA — Kelli Sullivan and family are grieving the loss of their pet terrier mix. But their beloved dog didn’t die of natural causes as one might expect. Instead, the family says an Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s deputy shot and killed the tiniest member of their family, all because the dog was barking. I know in my heart he didn’t have to shoot her. He didn’t have to shoot that dog in front of my kids. He just didn’t. In fact, the officer’s business had already been conducted at the home, after police were called to assist with a harassing neighbor. It was toward the end of the contact with police that the dog got out of the house and ran ...

RT The ‘War on Terror’ has cost US taxpayers at least $1.46 trillion since September 11, 2001, the Department of Defense’s cost of war report has revealed. The 74-page DoD dossier was obtained by the Federation of American Scientists’ Secrecy News. It breaks down the cost of the US’s various conflicts and reveals the ongoing war in Afghanistan and the war in Iraq account for the greatest chunk of change. Operation Enduring Freedom (the name given to the ‘War on Terror’ between 2001 and 2014), Operation Iraqi Freedom (Iraq War) and Operation New Dawn (past operations in Iraq and Afghanistan in 2010 and 2011) made up the biggest expense. They cost ...

Gizmodo – by Matt Novak The US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) wants to develop technology that scans the faces of travelers as they enter and leave the US. The difficult part? The agency wants to do it without anyone needing to get out of their cars. First spotted by Nextgov, DHS has posted a public notice calling on technology companies to submit proposals for the system by January 2018. The agency is hosting an “industry day” in Silicon Valley on November 14th to give businesses more information about what it is they’re looking for exactly.   The proposed program would allow Homeland Security to maintain a database of everyone who leaves and ...

Why Has The Las Vegas Massacre Disappeared From The News Cycle?

It is without a doubt, our news cycle – in the age of 24/7 constant-connectedness – moves at a breakneck pace. With so much information and news reaching us, it’s easy to become overburdened and burned out on the world around us and the things taking place. It is true, too, that the mainstream media dictates what stays center in the mind of the public and what is allowed to fade away and be forgotten. It is of the utmost importance we remain aware – however exhaustive it may be – of stories that just don’t add up.Enter the Las Vegas shooting; the worst mass-shooting in U.S. history... In Bombshell Letter, Ex-Bishops’ Doctrine Chief Accuses Pope Francis of Sowing ‘Chronic Confusion’

The former doctrinal chief of the U.S. Bishops Conference (USCCB) has written a forceful letter to Pope Francis, criticizing the pontiff’s “intentionally ambiguous” teaching, derision of conservatives and resistance to constructive criticism. Capuchin Father Thomas Weinandy, who was named to the Vatican’s International Theological Commission by Pope Francis himself in 2014, told Crux that he only wrote the letter and eventually released it for publication after much prayer and discernment, as Pope Francis often recommends. “If I did write something, I wanted it to be of help to Pope Francis, to the Church, and to the faithful,” he said. Although Weinandy wrote ...

CNN’s Jake Tapper, who is already dealing with humiliating ratings and a reputation implosion, decided to put on a public spectacle Wednesday over the criticism of his blatantly inappropriate and misleading comments surrounding the Islamic cry of “Allahu Akbar.” In the immediate aftermath of Tuesday’s terror attack, the worst in New York City since September 11, 2001, for some bizarre reason, Tapper felt the self-righteous need to say this: “The Arabic chant, Allahu Akbar, God is great, sometimes said under the most beautiful of circumstances, and too often we hear it being said in moments like this.” Let us begin with the misleading part. “Allahu ...

A Siberian tiger that was exiled a year ago after terrorising residents has completed an Odyssey of more than 400 miles to return to Vladivostok. Dubbed “Vladik” after a nickname for this port city of 600,000 near Russia's borders with China and North Korea, the tiger came near the village of Yasnoye near Vladivostok airport this week. Scientists have followed him via a GPS collar since he was released in Bikin national park after his capture last year. On the long trip back, Vladik crossed the Trans-Siberian railroad and killed and ate three Himalayan black bears. On Thursday, scientists said he had begun heading north away from the city. The news came as a hunt began for ...

Fire up the microwave and pop some popcorn; things are about to get really ugly inside the Democratic Party.  Throughout the primary election cycle last year, Bernie Sanders and his supporters angrily alleged that the DNC -- supposedly a neutral arbiter -- was actually in the tank for Hillary Clinton. Tuesday afternoon, a suspect, identified as Sayfullo Habibullaevic Saipov, according to two law enforcement sources, rented a pickup truck, drove it onto a busy bicycle path and mowed down innocent people before getting out and brandishing toy guns. Almost immediately after the horrific attack that left 8 dead and a dozen more injured, video of Saipov, an Uzbekistan native, was released. There were multiple videos, taken from multiple angles showing the attacker flee the truck and run through traffic. Police eventually caught Saipov, who they say is a “lone wolf” attacker. Nearly as fast as the video was released, so were the declarations that this attack was “an act of ...

Gulfport, MS — Kelvin Fairley and his wife Natasha Krikorkian are two successful newlyweds. Fairley, a registered nurse, and Krikorkian, a psychiatrist, live in a nice neighborhood with their three children. However, all that changed this week when they were accused of breaking into their own home and Fairley, Krikorkian and their children were all held at gunpoint and arrested. “If you don’t do anything wrong, you have nothing to worry about.” This phrase is repeated ad nauseam by police apologists and the police as a terrible defense against those who wish to hold ...

AG Jeff Sessions Suggests Prosecutions For Marijuana Growers, Sellers And Users In Legalized States

By Aaron Kesel Attorney General Jeff Sessions suggested that the Department of Justice may crack down on people who grow and sell marijuana, even in the 29 states that legalized the plant, echoing the drawn-out argument that it is still against federal law. Sessions made the non-surprising comments on conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt’s show after Hewitt asked whether the Department of Justice (DOJ) would be prosecuting marijuana growers and dispensaries for being criminal enterprises under RICO. “A lot of states are just simply breaking the law and a lot of money is being made and banked,” Hewitt said to Sessions of marijuana growers and sellers. ...

By Derrick Broze While claiming to fight “The Deep State” and drain the swamp, Donald Trump fights to save a controversial law which serves as a powerful tool for The Deep State. The first year of Donald Trump’s presidency is coming to a conclusion and all but his most blind supporters can now see that he is more of the same – a continuation of the puppet in chief bowing to the interests of the military-industrial complex and the banking/financial elite. The collective interests of these groups (and their front organizations) – as well as their connection to corporate and state power, academia, and media – are what have come to be known as the New World Order, ...

The New Nationalist – by Russ Winter Handling of the Las Vegas mass shooting was so badly botched that the Crime Syndicate is resorting to a series of gaslighting news articles to try to put the genie back in the bottle. Gaslighting essentially means calling someone crazy for being a “conspiracy theorist” (CT). This method is fairly effective when used against folks who are newly or partially awake and who aren’t as strong with their personal interpretative frameworks. For the record, The New Nationalist (TNN) defines a CT as someone who questions the statements and narratives of known liars. A conspiracy researcher goes beyond the distrust and digs deeper.   ...

Not about — just foundational issues, the anthem and so forth?” He answered, “No, I’m not surprised. I mean, what binds us? What do we all have in common anymore? I think we have to think about that. I think this is — when I was a kid, even as we had laws that held us apart, there ...
