Research suggests that marijuana use may raise the risk of death from hypertension by more than threefold. People who use marijuana may be three times more likely to die from high blood pressure than non-users of the drug, a new study finds. The researchers say that their findings indicate that marijuana use is a greater risk factor for poor cardiovascular health than cigarette smoking. Lead study author Barbara A. Yankey, of the School of Public Health at Georgia State University in Atlanta, and her team recently reported their results in the European Journal of Preventive Cardiology. High blood pressure, or hypertension, arises when the force of blood pushing against the blood vessel ...

A 65-year-old male teacher has been busted for paying a teenage boy for sex in Brooklyn, police sources said Tuesday. Mervyn Affoon, 65, a teacher at the Academy of Hospitality and Tourism in Brooklyn — on the same campus as Erasmus HS — paid a 16-year-old boy roughly $400 after having sex with him several times at his East Flatbush apartment, NYPD sources said. A city Department of Education staffer since 2006, Affoon first began grooming his underage target in February while serving as his business teacher, sources said. Affoon touched the teen’s groin after class and groped him again in a school elevator a week later. sources said. The teen told cops that he consented ...

A University in Michigan Is Offering a Bachelor Degree for Marijuana Entrepreneurs

There have already been classes offered at colleges around the country relating to marijuana, including the legal issues surrounding legalization and how cannabis is portrayed in the media. Louisiana State University is even growing medical marijuana in a partnership with a private company. That’s all interesting, but no school has offered an entire degree program focused on the marijuana industry. Until now. Northern Michigan University, located in the state's remote Upper Peninsula, has launched a four-year program that allows students to graduate with a degree in Medical Plant Chemistry. The focus is not only on learning the biology and chemistry of marijuana, but also on ...

Roadside Drug Testing Comes to Michigan, and the MSM is Selling It

Road Pirates can now get a swathe of your spit if you “look” drugged, and the state media outlets love it. Starting November 8, if you live in Michigan, in one of these five counties – Berrien, Delta, Kent, St. Clair, and Washtenaw – then you might find yourself pulled over and coerced into having a drug test. The Michigan State Police will force you to pull your car over. They will then demand that you get your mouth swathed so they can test to see if you have taken any drugs. But don’t worry folks, it’s “legal.” This is a pilot program that was passed by your Michigan Legislature (if you live in Michigan) and signed by your Governor (if you live in ...

Gilroy resident Samuel Neipp, 34, was booked into Santa Clara County Jail on suspicion of lewd and lascivious acts with a minor under 14, oral copulation, extortion and possessing child pornography. He is being held without bail. Neipp is also an assistant band director at Branham High School, police said. A new study has showed that more frequent current marijuana use is associated with a measure of cognitive dysfunction. Weed smokers, beware. Previous studies have already linked smoking up to psychological problems and increased risk of stroke and heart failure. Now, a new study has linked marijuana use with cognitive dysfunction in people with HIV infection who have an alcohol or other drug use disorder. While researchers at Boston University School of Public Health (BUSPH), Boston University School of Medicine (BUSM), and Boston Medical Center (BMC) did not detect effects of lifetime cumulative exposure, the study showed that more frequent current marijuana use was associated with a ...

Somervell County, TX — A 27-year-old deputy was arrested after he admitted to getting drunk and unloading pistols into a Presbyterian church. Instead of being sent to prison for dangerously discharging a firearm in public and putting the lives of innocent people in danger, Somervell County Sheriff’s Deputy, William Cox will remain a free man. As the country reels from the horrifying shooting in Sutherland Springs and searches for answers as to why anyone would commit such a brutal mass murder, this former Texas cop proves he is above the law. Last week, Cox was given a sweet plea deal by prosecutors. In exchange for him pleading guilty to the charge of deadly conduct, he ...

A scientific study on the legitimacy of a training drill called the “21-Foot-Rule” has revealed that a practice police department across the country have used for decades is “responsible for thousands of unnecessary deaths.” The investigation conducted by NBC Bay Area looked into how many deaths have resulted from the current policies regulating how officers are taught to deal with citizens who appear to be wielding knives.   The “21-Foot-Rule” was created in the 1980s and based on the belief that an individual holding a knife, or another sharp object, could cover 21 feet of ground in the same time it takes a police ...

Democrats Getting Last Minute Willies In VA Gov Race, And Did Ralph Northam Lie About His Military Career?

In a few hours, the polls will open in Virginia. Democratic candidate Ralph Northam, the lieutenant governor of the state, is in a tight race with Republican Ed Gillespie. This shouldn’t have been a big issue for Democrats. Incumbent Democratic Gov. Terry McAuliffe is popular. It’s the only southern state that Hillary Clinton won. It’s trending bluish—and Donald Trump is not popular here. And yet, here we are—one of the most critical races of the year, though some Virginia voters probably don’t even know that tomorrow is Election Day. The Real Clear Politics polling average had Northam up on Gillespie by six points, which dropped to two points over the ...

On Breitbart News Sunday with SiriusXM hosts Joel Pollak and Rebecca Mansour, Breitbart News Executive Chairman Steve Bannon was sharply critical of the Bush family, referring to them as “the last Whigs” because “the Republican Party that they talked about is essentially over.” Bannon was referring to the Bush presidents attacking President Donald Trump in a new book, The Last Republicans: Inside the Extraordinary Relationship Between George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush by historian Mark Updegrove. “Listen, I try to be bad cop to President Trump’s good cop. He’s head of the Republican Party. He tries to stay above the fray. Podesta Lobbied For Uranium One, Did Not File As Foreign Agent

A new report claims the Podesta Group did not file as a foreign agent despite lobbying for Uranium One. The Daily Caller News Foundation determined Tony Podesta’s lobbying firm represented the Russia-owned company during the Obama administration, but did not register under the Foreign Agents Registration Act. The report claims Podesta collected lobbying fees of $180,000 from Uranium One. GOP Congressman Devin Nunes says he is concerned about Poedesta’s lobbying actives, and the decision not to register under the act. The special counsel has reportedly subpoenaed Podesta — who resigned from the firm last month– to testify and has requested records from the group.

The woman who posted a photo of herself giving the middle finger to President Donald Trump’s motorcade to social media has been fired from her job, The Huffington Post reports. As Trump returned from the Trump National Golf Club in Sterling, Va., Sunday, Oct. 29, a woman later self-identified as Julie Briskman, made the rude gesture to the president’s motorcade twice as she was cycling on the same road. According to the pool reporter on duty that day, “POTUS’s motorcade departed the Trump National Golf Club at 3.12pm, passing two pedestrians, one of whom gave a thumbs-down sign. Then it overtook a female cyclist, wearing a white top and cycling helmet, who responded by ...

Marijuana use may lead to 26% increase in the risk of stroke and a 10% increase in the risk of developing heart failure, an Indian-origin researcher has found. “Like all other drugs, whether they’re prescribed or not prescribed, we want to know the effects and side effects of this drug,” said the study’s lead author Aditi Kalla from Einstein Medical Centre in Philadelphia, US. “It’s important for physicians to know these effects so we can better educate patients, such as those who are inquiring about the safety of cannabis or even asking for a prescription for cannabis,” Kalla said. The study drew data from the Nationwide Inpatient Sample, which ...

MARIJUANA: WHY DANGEROUSLY POTENT POT IS MAKING PEOPLE LOSE THEIR MINDS AND MEMORIES

High-potency pot is causing psychiatric issues, including addiction and memory problems. New strains of the recreational drug have higher levels of the active chemical and not enough of another compound that keeps the drug safe. And as a new study this week documents, the riskiest pot is coming from the black market— which could be an argument for expanding legalization. The new report, published this week by Manchester Metropolitan University in the U.K., tested 50 samples of cannabis in the city of Manchester. The study was conducted by Volteface, a London-based policy think tank seeking reform for marijuana laws to improve safety of the drug by making it legal, and thus limiting ...

Marin Mom Says Smoking Marijuana Makes Her A Better Parent

MILL VALLEY (KPIX) — You could call it mother’s little helper. A new survey found that 20 percent of parents use pot. Emma Cunningham is one of them. She’s mom to 10-year-old Julian and 12-year-old Dylan. Keeping up with them isn’t easy, so she says to stay on her game she uses marijuana – regularly – and she isn’t shy about it. “It makes me present and calm and I have two boys, and they fight and they argue with me and so instead of reaching for a glass of wine here and there in the evening when I come home from work I can go downstairs, outside my door and vape,” said Cunningham. Forty-five-year-old Emma lives in Mill Valley, and she’s ...

Marijuana devastated Colorado, don’t legalize it nationally

Last week, Senator Cory Booker introduced the Marijuana Justice Act in an effort to legalize marijuana across the nation and penalize local communities that want nothing to do with this dangerous drug. This is the furthest reaching marijuana legalization effort to date and marks another sad moment in our nation’s embrace of a drug that will have generational consequences. Our country is facing a drug epidemic. Legalizing recreational marijuana will do nothing that Senator Booker expects. We heard many of these same promises in 2012 when Colorado legalized recreational marijuana. In the years since, Colorado has seen an increase in marijuana related traffic deaths, poison control ...

TRENTON - Nicole Bethea will need to find a new place to hoard drugs and weapons. The Franklin Elementary School principal resigned from her position on Oct. 16, according to Trenton school board meeting minutes. From Sept. 18 until Sept. 20, Bethea allegedly failed to notify the superintendent or police that students brought marijuana and weapons to school. Instead, Bethea allegedly stashed the contraband in her office, sources with intimate knowledge of the situation previously told The Trentonian. A Franklin student brought a toy gun to the school on Sept. 18, another student brought marijuana to school on Sept. 19 and another student brought a BB gun to the school on Sept. 20, police ...

Allahu Akbar-itis: America's Deadly and Debilitating Disease

"Shout 'Allahu Akbar,' because this strikes fear in the hearts of the non-believers." Who knew hijacker Mohammed Atta's parting words, discovered in his journal after the 9/11 attacks, would become a national punchline? The louder and more frequently jihadists around the globe shriek their signature battle cry, the more fervently multicultural apologists deny its meaning. They've transformed the Islamic supremacists' obvious and explicit call for violence into a bland utterance of peace as indiscernible and nonsensical as "Aloha Snackbar." With blood still fresh on the pavement in Manhattan after Tuesday's outbreak of Allahu Akbar-itis that took ...

New research presented today at APHA's 2017 Annual Meeting and Expo examined the effect of marijuana use and dependence on life achievement in young adults. The study found that young adults dependent on marijuana and alcohol were less likely to achieve adult life goals, defined by the study as educational achievement, full-time employment, marriage and social economic potential. Researchers with UConn Health examined data from the Collaborative Study on the Genetics of Alcoholism, supported by the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism. Study subjects included 1,165 young adults, whose habits were first assessed at age 12 and then at two-year intervals until they were ...

The counties were chosen based on criteria including the number of impaired crashes reported and the number of Drug Recognition Experts in the county. DREs are law enforcement officials trained to recognize drugged drivers. "We're really excited to be chosen as one of the five counties," said St. Clair County Prosecutor Mike Wendling.
