Rex Tillerson at Hoover (Sec. of State Extravaganza with Condoleezza Rice) Post Date: 2018-01-22 17:54:22 by Hondo68

On Wednesday morning last week, I, as a research fellow with the Hoover Institution, got to attend a speech by Secretary of State Rex Tillerson. It was followed by a Q&A session with former Secretary of State and my Hoover colleague Condoleezza Rice. Unfortunately, questions from the audience were not allowed. The talk was about the Trump administrations policy on Syria. The State Department has already released a transcript of his speech. After the first few minutes of niceties, Tillerson got to his main topic: Syria. He listed many of the ways that Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad is bad, the main one being killing many of his own people. I thought Tillerson would then go to ...

A top immigration hard-liner said Monday he thinks Donald Trumps positions on immigration are like Jell-O and accused the president of backing limited amnesty for immigrants in the country illegally. Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa), who advised Trump on immigration issues during the 2016 campaign, said he has grown frustrated by Trumps failed promises to build a wall on the southern border with Mexico and end protections for young immigrants enrolled in the Obama-era Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. We finally elected a president who called for the end of amnesty and he was going to end DACA at noon on Jan. 20, 2017, and we all expected that ...

The citys police-officers union is cracking down on the number of get out of jail free courtesy cards distributed to cops to give to family and friends. Patrolmens Benevolent Association boss Pat Lynch slashed the maximum number of cards that could be issued to current cops from 30 to 20, and to retirees from 20 to 10, sources told The Post. The cards are often used to wiggle out of minor trouble such as speeding tickets, the theory being that presenting one suggests you know someone in the NYPD. The rank and file is livid. They are treating active members like st, and retired members even worse than st, griped an NYPD cop who retired on ...
I think people should understand how jobs for illegal immgrants works Post Date: 2018-01-22 14:17:56 by no gnu taxes

No, you cant just walk into a Walmart and they give a job after talking to you in a back room. There is no way a corporation would risk that. They have to find a broker. It's not that easy. They want people who will keep their mouth's shut. These jobs are not advertised. You can only find about them from word of mouth. They come from agricultural and construction industries. American contractors hire legal immigigrants to do these jobs as subcontractors. The subcontractors then hire who they want to. This has gone on for decades. The contractors like it. The illegals like it. Hell, it makes produce cheaper.

After passing the House last week and the Senate on Thursday, President Trump has signed the FISA 702 bill, renewing the section of FISA that allows the NSA to engage in mass surveillance of Americans Internet communications without a warrant. The bill faced some bipartisan resistance, as promised reforms and safeguards never materialized, or were dismissed by Congressional leadership on the grounds that they would weaken the broad ability of the NSA to operate unchecked with Americans data. President Trump claimed the bill is the right thing for our country, but falsely claimed this is not the same FISA law that was so wrongly abused during the election, ...

There is a growing consensus among many observers in Washington that the national security agencies have become completely politicized over the past seventeen years and are now pursuing selfish agendas that actually endanger what remains of American democracy. As Philip Giraldi notes, up until recently it has been habitual to refer to such activity as the Deep State, which is perhaps equivalent to the Establishment in that it includes financial services, the media, major foundations and constituencies, as well as lobbying groups, but we are now witnessing an evolutionary process in which the national security regime is exercising power independently. Nowhere is that ...

In the movie, The Post, Meryl Streeps character shares a sobering thought, Newspapers are the first draft of history. Their mission is critical to our republic; newspapers are to serve the public, not those who govern. They have a responsibility to be truth tellers no matter who is in office, but its easier to report negative news about a president you do not support. In the movie, Nixon was in the crosshairs, but the Pentagon Papers focused on actions and lies by Presidents Eisenhower, Kennedy, and Johnson before Nixon was president. Is it the medias responsibility to also cover the accomplishments of presidents they do not like? The Republican tax cut is resulting in tangible benefits for workers more quickly than even many of its supporters expected. Bolstering an already-improving U.S. economy, it is starting to exert an equally powerful influence on U.S. politics. To be sure, President Donald Trump still suffers from low approval ratings. Based on approval ratings one year into a first term, Trump is the most unpopular president since at least Harry Truman, notes Harry Enten of the website FiveThirtyEight today. But there are interesting trends in political polling data. Mr. Enten explains: The anniversary of President Trumps inauguration is Saturday, and he is ending his first year on an ...

Thousands of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipients have been convicted or accused of committing crimes against U.S. citizens, and federal authorities say that they have seen an explosion in the number of illegal alien DACA recipients that are losing their protections for crime and gang-related activities. The news comes as Democrats voted against a Republican continuing resolution on Friday night that would have kept the government open and averted a shutdown of non-essential services as they prioritize 800,000 illegal aliens over hundreds-of-millions of American citizens. Late last year, statistics from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) revealed that in ...

Its rather amazing how much news you can miss when the entire media machine is focused on something like the government shutdown. For just one minor example, did you know that Turkey invaded Syria yesterday? That probably sounds a bit dramatic (and to be honest, it wasnt that much of an invasion) but its certainly accurate. Making good on President Recep Tayyip Erdogans earlier promise, Turkey launched a blistering wave of air strikes on U.S.-backed Kurdish forces in Afrin province and crossed the border with troops and artillery. Details are sketchy, but at least for the moment the Kurds claim to have beaten back the attack. (Reuters) Turkish ground forces pushed ...

Rand Paul Pushes Marijuana Amendments On Funding Bill Post Date: 2018-01-21 00:03:27 by Hondo68

One measure would prevent the Justice Department from interfering with state recreational legalization and medical cannabis laws, a big concern in the wake of U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessionss recent rescission of Obama-era guidance that has generally allowed local marijuana policies to be implemented without federal harassment: ______
