GOP rule change could give Mitt Romney the boot (Former Utah Republican)

File-Former Presidential Candidate Mitt Romney talks with CNN's Wolf Blitzer Wednesday, February 5, 2018 SALT LAKE CITY — A new rule could kick out Mitt Romney and other candidates from their Utah Republican Party memberships. The Utah Republican Party is trying to decide who can be part of the organization. Under a new bylaw passed Saturday, Feb. 24, any Republican candidate who accepts signatures while on route to the primary election, will lose their party membership. Utahpolicy.com reports the central committee backed the change, while party chairman Rob Anderson opposed. The committee adopted one set of rules for the 1st and 2nd U.S House districts and a separate set of ...

Guarding the children...

Guarding the children... Probably the only to way to protect children in the classroom, is to have an armed guard in every classroom, and at all school activities.. The solution might be to have a parent, -- one child's parent, - in every class (a volunteer parent with a cc permit). Such parents could volunteer to attend one of their children's classes on a day to day basis, --- granted, - it will be difficult to find enough parents with the concealed carry training, and the time to spare. Many more school shootings, and we may find more out of work parents (and some employed) --- willing to qualify, and to devote several hours a week to this scheme.. After all, who has more ...

Newsweek is unable to pay its bills, faces eviction

When we checked in with Newsweek last week, the magazine had just published a news article critical of the magazine’s owners. That article only saw the light of day after a number of reporters and editors threatened to quit if it were spiked. It came after two top editors were fired and a raid based on an investigation by the Manhattan District Attorney. Today, the Daily Beast reports the struggling magazine is unable to pay its rent and may face eviction. Guardian Life Insurance, the sub-landlord for the company’s downtown Manhattan office, informed International Business Times Inc. in late November that it owed several hundred thousand dollars representing “unpaid, ...

Google Censors Guns, Removes Shopping Results

It appears that Google may have silently joined the ranks of one side of the gun control debate. On February 26, Twitter users LADowd and Xavier Dreyman noticed that results in the most-used search engine in the world were returning nothing in the “Shopping” tab when any query included a gun part, model, or manufacturer. His first result was for the rather broad term of “rifle scope”. This netted zero results while providing just two sponsored results below the main search. Curiosity must’ve taken over and he continued on looking for “remington razor” which also netted a whopping 0 results. Turns out, the problem was that Remington is most known for ...

What the heck happened to Germany’s military? [Full Thread]

One of the more controversial platform items in Donald Trump’s foreign policy stance on the campaign trail had been an insistence that our Europen allies start investing more in their own military forces and carrying a bit more of the defense load. One country in particular was called out on this and that was Germany. Many in the media scoffed at the idea and even termed it insulting to our German allies. But how real was the need for improvement? Recently it’s been revealed that Germany’s military isn’t just behind the curve on investment and improvements. It’s practically dysfunctional. German Newspaper Die Welt reported on the dismal state of the Bundeswehr (the ...

Armed and Dangerous: If Police Don’t Have to Protect the Public, What Good Are They?

“After a shooting spree, they always want to take the guns away from the people who didn’t do it. I sure as hell wouldn’t want to live in a society where the only people allowed guns are the police and the military.”—Author William S. Burroughs In the American police state, police have a tendency to shoot first and ask questions later. In fact, police don’t usually need much incentive to shoot and kill members of the public. Police have shot and killed Americans of all ages—many of them unarmed—for standing a certain way, or moving a certain way, or holding something—anything—that police could misinterpret to be a gun, or igniting ...

Dems worry: Are we overplaying the gun-control hand?

Once again, the answer is obvious. Once again, the question probably comes too late — both for Democrats and for any kind of bipartisan effort to fix the real problems exposed in a mass shooting. Only after a week of demonizing law-abiding gun owners around the country and the NRA as child-killers for a crime to which they had no connection, Democrats have begun to worry that they may have gone too far, according to The Hill: The party is galvanized behind the idea that Congress should take action on gun control, but faces warnings from some Democrats that reaching too far could drive away voters in the swing districts they’ll need to retake the Speaker’s gavel. A number of ...

The day after the horrific shooting that took place at Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, she posted a rant on Facebook that has since gone viral. In the post, she talked about parental responsibility, compassion, and respect…and more than 823,000 people have “liked” the post and agreed with it, while more than 649,000 have shared it with others. Mark Cowan says he is keeping watch outside North Side High School in Fort Wayne with his AR-15 and a handgun – at least until added security is in place. Cown told WANE-TV 15 that he’s standing guard to protect students and defend them against anyone who might threaten their safety while they’re in school. He has been in contact with local police and the school resource officer. “I [decided] to get my butt off the couch and come out here ...

School Shooting Plot Exposed: You Won’t Believe Who Set It Up By Onan Coca February 24, 2018 For the last week or so, the entire nation has been talking about gun control — or at least the media has been talking about it. The sudden tsunami of gun control stories, articles, op-eds, and segments is the result of the terrible mass shooting that took place at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in beautiful Parkland, Florida. Sadly, the focus on gun control has caused the media (and the people who get their news from the media) to miss the far-larger scandal revolving around Douglas High School. First, let me be clear; I’m not talking about the scandal of four police ...

Hogg made the comments Sunday during a gun control rally held at Temple B’nai Abraham in Livingston, New Jersey. The New York Daily News reports that Hogg said, “I’m not going back to school on Wednesday until one bill is passed.” He did not specify which law he wants most, only that he is not going back until at least one law garners the support of lawmakers. He said, “Literally any legislation at this point would be a success. Considering the fact that so few legislators in Florida met with us and they want the ...

Thanks to the work of the Panda Idaho, an Idaho house committee passed the Restoring Constitutional Governance Act, H473, by a vote of 11-2 on February 20, 2018. This legislation, drafted by the Patriot Coalition, is the strongest in the nation as it explicitly prohibits the laws of war from being used on non-soldiers in Idaho, and Idaho citizens anywhere, and will punish any person, including Federal or international agents, who attempts to utilize those powers. A Quick Refresher On The NDAA Introduced by State Rep. Bryan Zollinger, H473 would ban the state of Idaho from enforcing sections 1021 and 1022 of the 2012 National Defense Authorization Act. MSM Florida Shooting Narrative CRUMBLES: Teacher Saw Shooter In ‘Full Metal Garb’

Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School teacher Stacey Lippel is speaking out about what – or more specifically, who – she saw shooting up the school on that fateful Valentine’s Day. Lippel says the shooter was in “full metal garb” which is in stark contrast to the image (above) of the alleged shooter that the mainstream media continues to show us. Lippel, who is a creative writing teacher, says she was only about 2o feet away from the shooter as a “barrage” of bullets flew down the hallway and into classrooms. Lippel’s arm was grazed by one of the bullets fired by the gunman who she says was in “full metal garb” and was even wearing a helmet. ...

Why You Should Use an AR-15 as a Deer Rifle
Post Date: 2018-02-26 11:41:36 by no gnu taxes

The AR-15 is one of the most popular rifle platforms of all time. It only stands to reason that its popularity would bleed over into the hunting world. It has, in a big way. According to a recent study by the National Shooting Sports Foundation, 27 percent of hunters surveyed have used a modern sporting rifle (MSR) in pursuit of game. Of those, 48 percent report having used a MSR within the past five years, illustrating a growth in the use of the platform among those hunters surveyed. Of those answering yes to the use of an MSR for hunting, nearly 60 percent state they have used that platform to hunt large game. That popularity has spawned a number of larger caliber choices for AR-15 ...

Congress should close the loophole allowing warrantless digital car searches
Post Date: 2018-02-26 11:02:47 by Deckard

Most Americans expect the Fourth Amendment — which protects individuals from illegal searches — to extend to their digital lives. In general, this expectation matches reality: unless law enforcement comes knocking with a warrant, the government cannot search a person’s phone or computer. However, cars are treated differently, and as “connected cars” become increasingly linked to people’s digital identities, there is a risk that police will use this exception to conduct digital searches without warrants.Congress should close this loophole. The Fourth Amendment is the cornerstone of people’s right to privacy and freedom from government intrusion in the United ...

The three strongest Democratic challengers to President Trump’s reelection are now all black women. They are talk show queen Oprah Winfrey, former first lady Michelle Obama and Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.). Former White House chief strategist Stephen Bannon has said Oprah and the #MeToo movement pose an “existential threat” to the Trump presidency. Michelle Obama left the White House with a 68 percent approval rating. She got a new wave of positive attention this month when record crowds showed up to see her newly unveiled official portrait at the National Gallery of Art. Conservative columnist and Trump booster Ann Coulter confidently predicted last fall that if Harris ...

ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Maryland's ban on 45 kinds of assault weapons and its 10-round limit on gun magazines were upheld Tuesday by a federal appeals court in a decision that met with a strongly worded dissent. In a 10-4 ruling, the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Richmond, Virginia, said the guns banned under Maryland's law aren't protected by the Second Amendment. "Put simply, we have no power to extend Second Amendment protections to weapons of war," Judge Robert King wrote for the court, adding that the Supreme Court's decision in District of Columbia v. Heller explicitly excluded such coverage. advertisement Maryland Attorney General Brian Frosh, who ...

Although the number of colleges with the most restrictive speech codes has continued to decline, 90 percent of schools still maintain codes that either clearly restrict or could too easily be used to restrict free speech. Today, we present our 2018 list of the 10 worst colleges for free speech. As always, our list is presented in no particular order, and it includes both ...
