Does Gun Control Reduce Murder? Let’s Run The Numbers Across The World Post Date: 2018-04-05 03:27:11 by Tooconservative

Watching the recent emotional speeches and marches supporting gun control, I cant shake a question that nags me: Would we be safer with fewer guns? Gun control advocates have an intuitive argument. Guns are an efficient way to commit murder. If we reduce the number of guns in society, we axiomatically will reduce murders. Reducing gun violence is a desirable goal, particularly when one sees shooters mowing down children. After I thought about it, I realized the question of whether reducing guns in a society will lead to fewer murders is a testable hypothesis. You can measure gun ownership and murder rates. No two countries have the same gun laws or the same murder rates. So I jumped ...
Trump Wins: Migrant Caravan Changes Mind After Trump Announces U.S. Forces To Border Post Date: 2018-04-05 02:53:01 by Tooconservative

On Wednesday, a 1,000-person caravan making its way north through Mexico while traveling to the United States decided to abandon its plan of reaching the U.S. after President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday that he was deploying the military to the Southern Border to increase border security. "We will wrap up our work in Mexico City," said Irineo Mujica, head of the migrant advocacy group Pueblo sin Fronteras, AFP reported. "We have support teams at the border if there are people who need assistance there, but they would have to travel on their own," Mujica said. "There are too many children -- 450 in all. There are lots of babies. Hopping the train, as we did in ...
Texas, California, and the Tale of the Coyote Post Date: 2018-04-04 23:20:06 by Dead Culture Watch

Texas, California, and the Tale of the Coyote Ive already had a couple of blog posts commenting on how Texas is kicking Californias you-know- what. Being a fiscal policy person, I always point to Californias punitive state income tax as an example of bad policy and highlight the absence of any income tax in Texas to explain the success of that state. But sometimes its just culture and attitude. Heres a joke comparing the two states, but its based on something that actually happened in Texas. CALIFORNIA: The Governor of California is jogging with his dog along a nature trail. A coyote jumps out, bites the Governor and attacks his dog. 1. The Governor ...
Interview With Prepper: ‘We Were Held Without Charges’ For Survivalist Facebook Posts (Update) Post Date: 2018-04-04 20:10:02 by Deckard

It is no longer a conspiracy theory, but a fact that people are being specifically targeted for their participation in what some call prepping and others dub survivalism. A couple from California had their home raided and were held without charges for making non-violent posts on Facebook about survival techniques and thought-provoking discussions. We were able to sit down and chat with Sarah Leach about why the government felt it necessary to raid the home she shared with her husband over what amounted to thought-provoking Facebook posts. Although Leach admitted she wasnt certain which particular Facebook post lead to the SWAT teams seizing all of their handguns and ...
As A Father From Brooklyn, I Can No Longer Tolerate The Degeneracy Encircling My Family (Gen X Revolt?) Post Date: 2018-04-04 14:57:35 by Liberator

In my youth I was much more tolerant of the gay and lesbian movement, but I think that is because I lived in a completely different world than what exists today. I was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, but I feel that the Brooklyn that I remember either no longer exists or exists in isolated pockets holding out against a world quickly losing any moral coherency. I remember a time when respecting other peoples privacy was not a novelty but a requirement and by extension demanding that our own privacy be respected. We all knew who was gay, but as long as they kept their lifestyle to themselves, we didnt give a sh*t. I developed a tolerance for people because I could put myself ...
You Won’t Believe What This “Transgender” Principal Did To His Students Post Date: 2018-04-04 14:40:47 by IbJensen

Overnight, one male principle suddenly decided he wanted to be a female, and change his gender. Leading up to a traumatizing series of events, he involved his students and their parents in the unthinkable. Even worse, you wont believe what he expected parents to tell their children about his sudden gender change. Principal Daniels was proud to admit to parents and students his new identity. He wrote a letter claiming he is now transgender, and giving instructions to parents on how to handle the transition. LifeSite News reported: I can now say it: I am transgender. For me, that means I identify as both a male and female, ...

To honor Dr. Kings legacy today, I want to share with you a BreakPoint commentary Chuck Colson aired on Dr. Kings Letter from Birmingham Jail. The issues Dr. King raised about the nature of law, what constitutes an unjust law, and how we should respond to ...
How To Build a PC Post Date: 2018-04-04 13:01:11 by Willie Green

Back in the days of dial-up internet, it was commonplace to build your own computer. Instead of walking into a Best Buy or logging onto Dell's website to shop for a complete unit, you'd assemble a desktop PC yourself using standardized, commodity parts purchased either online or at a store specializing in computer components. These days, most consumers have only ever bought pre-fab systems, no assembly required. However, many gamers and computer hobbyists still prefer to roll their own boxes. Doing so means you maintain total control over how the computer turns out, and a successful DIY build is a point of pride. Also, knowing your way around the inside of a PC makes it easier to ...

California Considering Unprecedented Law Restricting Police Firearm Use Opening fire should be enforced as the last resort, the bills supporters say. By Lydia OConnor On the heels of police officers shooting a young, unarmed black man to death in Sacramento, California, last month, state lawmakers announced a first-of-its- kind bill on Monday that raises the standard for when officers may open fire. The proposed legislation would change the guidance in Californias use of force laws so that police may open fire only when necessary rather than when reasonable, Sacramento-based Assemblyman Kevin McCarty (D), said at a press conference ...

I have an Apple 5S. I have had it probably 4 or 5 years(not really sure how long). I also bought an Ipad soon after. They were pretty good until last summer when I got "that" update and they have become energy hogs. They will not accept some programs or devices. I have lost my Bluetooth to my Ipad. I have a slip on battery backup for my phone because I use it soo much. I never make throw the day and sometimes I have to charge it up 3 times to make it. With the slip on battery I can just push a button and its start charging my phone(really would like one for my Ipad too) instead of leaving it in my truck or office which I tend to forget. Well just installed another update last ...
Many People Really Are Sheep: Experiments in Social Compliance Show Few People Argue With Authority Figures Post Date: 2018-04-04 10:14:32 by Deckard

Many of us really are sheep, quick to follow the crowd and obey orders. Instead of standing up and speaking out on our own convictions, we often choose to fit in. Assimilating with the crowd, we find its easier to go-along to get-along, even if that means giving away our own power, rights, and dignity in the process. In fear of isolation, we do not question or challenge authority figures, even when they are morally and ethically wrong. Yale University psychologist Stanley Milgram unveiled this sad reality of human behavior in a social compliance experiment that showed how ordinary people will torture others under the social pressures of an authority figure. ...
Cops Sexually Assault Innocent Man in Broad Daylight Because They “Smell Weed” Post Date: 2018-04-04 10:03:39 by Deckard

South Hampton, NJ One of the most disturbing videos illustrating the horrors of marijuana prohibition was released this week showing police officers handcuff an innocent man and publicly grope his genitals and probe his anus. The lengths the police state will go to prosecute otherwise innocent people for this plant were on full display as two New Jersey state troopers detained a man then humiliated and sexually assaulted him for nearly ten minutes in broad daylight. Highlighting the gross negligence associated with such a tyrannical and vile act the public sexual assault of this innocent man turned up nothing. Whats more, the footage of the attack was hidden ...
Trump: Dems 'stand in our way' on stronger border Post Date: 2018-04-04 10:00:40 by buckeroo

President Trump on Wednesday called on Congress to take immediate action to strengthen border laws while accusing Democrats of standing in the way of legislation. In a morning tweet, the president said that current border laws are "very weak" and noting that "strong action" would be taken Wednesday. This comes a day after the president said that he wants to deploy U.S. troops to guard the southern border with Mexico until his proposed border wall is completed. Until we can have a wall and proper security, we are going to be guarding our border with the military, Trump said Tuesday during a meeting with Baltic state leaders. Trump has received increased ...

The Air Force has ruled that one of its commanders had a right to exercise his religious beliefs when he declined to sign a certificate of appreciation for the same-sex spouse of an airman under his command. Col. Leland Bohannon, a Christian, had previously refused to sign a certificate of appreciation for the same-sex spouse of a retiring master sergeant in his command. Last year, the Air Force ruled that the incident was discrimination, and passed Bohannon up for promotion to brigadier general. Rep. Doug Lamborn, R-Colo., and other lawmakers, sent a letter to Secretary of the Air Force Heather Wilson in December, supporting Bohannons bid for a religious accommodation in the case. ...
Rapid Decline: Californians Fleeing High Taxes and Insane Property Costs Post Date: 2018-04-04 08:57:45 by IbJensen

For no other discernible reason other than it gave the states Democrats another opportunity to do battle with Donald Trump, California lawmakers proposed a bill following the Republican tax cuts that would immediately confiscate corporate savings and turn them over to the government. Assemblymen Kevin McCarty and Phil Ting proposed an amendment to the state constitution that would compel businesses to hand 10% of their net earnings over to the state coffers in an effort to raise money for social programs. It is unconscionable to force working families to pay the price for tax breaks and loopholes benefiting corporations and wealthy individuals, said Ting in January, ...
Governor Pardons Illegal Alien Criminals in Defiant Move Against Trump Post Date: 2018-04-04 08:43:23 by IbJensen

Criminals and illegal aliens (and those who double as both) have never had a better friend than California Gov. Jerry Brown. This week, Brown proved once again that he deserves the loyalty of Californias neer-do-wells when he granted 56 pardons and 14 commutations to convicts, solidifying his status as the most forgiving governor in the states history. But what really drew national headlines was Browns decision to pardon five illegal immigrants for crimes that were a bit more serious than drug offenses and other nonviolent infractions. One is a Cambodian immigrant who served time for inflicting corporal injury on a spouse and threatening a crime with the ...

Susette Kelo bought a run-down home. She fixed it up and painted it pink. Then the government came and took it. "Eminent Domain" has long allowed politicians to grab your property to build roads, railroad tracks, a border wallanything they claim is for "public use." But they wanted Kelo's house so they could give the property to a private developer. Is that right? A new movie called "Little Pink House" tells the story of how Susette fought for her home, all the way to the Supreme Court. Eventually she lost her case, and her home. Justice Sandra Day O'Connor explained the problem in her dissent, writing, "nothing is to prevent the State ...

Trump Says He Plans to Order Military to Guard Border Post Date: 2018-04-03 13:34:21 by buckeroo

WASHINGTON President Trump said on Tuesday that he planned to order the military to guard parts of the southern border until he can build a wall and tighten immigration restrictions, proposing a remarkable escalation of his efforts to crack down on migrants entering the country illegally. Mr. Trump, who has been stewing publicly for days about what he characterizes as lax immigration laws and the potential for an influx of Central American migrants to stream into the United States, said he had been discussing with Jim Mattis, the secretary of defense, about resorting to military deployments. We have very bad laws for our border, and we are going to be doing some things ...

New cars have many features old cars never had LCD touchscreens and WiFi, for instance. But new cars are missing some things, too. Maybe you remember and wonder why?Bumpers that could take a bump Until about the early-mid 1990s, most cars still had external bumpers designed to be . . . bumped. They were made of steel and so didnt easily tear, like todays plastic bumper covers do leading to very expensive repairs, usually involving the replacement of the torn bumper cover and then repainting it. So, why? Environmental regs made chrome-plating steel bumpers expensive so they were replaced with cheap plastic bumper covers painted body ...
