Yesterday I wrote about a viral video in which a 16-year-old had his Make America Great Again hat stolen by an angry, cursing adult at a Whataburger restaurant in Texas. Heres the clip which is now approaching 10 million views: So went out for a 2am snack and my friend (wearing a MAGA hat) had his hat stolen and a drink thrown in his face (and mine, you can see my arms on the left of the video) pic.twitter.com/B3QjBFIxPk Brax🕊 (@brxpug) July 4, 2018 The man seen stealing the hat and tossing the drink at teens was arrested last night and has been charged with a felony. County disagrees with ACLU opinion on ICE agents in jails Post Date: 2018-07-07 11:39:37 by Gatlin

An ACLU attorney whose opinion on ICE agents operating within the county jail complex was shredded by a Pima County staff attorney has dismissed the counter opinion as political and non-binding. American Civil Liberties Union lawyer Billy Peard argued in a May 7 memo that the Pima County Board of Supervisors can legally bar U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents from operating within the county jail. Peards memo stated that the county could be held liable for jail operations deemed as tortious acts committed by its sheriff. Under this tort a wrongful act or infringement of a civil right the board can control how the sheriff operates a ...
Hey, NeverTrumps, Where Would We Be with Hillary Clinton Right Now? Post Date: 2018-07-07 09:58:15 by Tooconservative

Will the NeverTrumps ever come to the realization that President Trump is executing the conservative agenda most of them have been dreaming about for the past three decades? Finally, the answer to their prayers is here, yet many NeverTrumps like Washington Post columnist Jennifer Rubin continue to slam this administration. What will it actually take to get these nitpicking resisting NeverTrumps to taper down their sour-grapes anti-Trump rhetoric? Please, we implore you to look in the mirror and maybe just come to grips with reality. Your fellow conservatives on the right are asking you kindly to please stop going after a president who is ...
Judge Raymond Kethledge and the Second Amendment [Full Thread] Post Date: 2018-07-07 09:49:34 by Tooconservative

Judge Raymond Kethledge vigorously defends and exercises individual rights under the Second Amendment. On the bench, he has faithfully applied the Supreme Courts decision in District of Columbia v. Heller, and ruled that Second Amendment rights deserve at least as much protection as any others. Off the bench, he is an avid hunter and a lecturer on originalism, textualism, and the Second Amendment. Perhaps the most important Second Amendment case to come before the Sixth Circuit in the last few years so important that the court took it en banc is Tyler v. Hillsdale County Sheriffs Department. The case dealt with a federal statute that barred anyone ...
The Libertarian Party: Bringing good ideas to America since 1971 Post Date: 2018-07-07 08:07:36 by Gatlin

Abolish ICE! is the new rallying cry for progressive Democrats, reports NBC Newss Alex Seitz-Wald. Its a radical idea and one that was confined to the fringes just months ago, but one that left-wing insurgents can use to differentiate themselves from more established rivals in Democratic primaries. Good idea. So good, in fact, that I wrote a column advocating exactly that three months ago. Welcome to the right side, Democrats. Like most Libertarians, Im amused when our ideological opponents see a parade forming around one of our ideas and try to hustle their way to the front to lead it. Unlike some ...

According to Jewish Press, Andrej Danno, the Slovak National Council, told Reuven Rivlin, the President of Israel, that Slovakia plans to move their embassy to Jerusalem. The decision was made by the Prime Minister of Slovakia, Peter Pellegrini.Slovakia will be the sixth country to move their embassy to Jerusalem following the Trump administration's decision to make the politically significant change. Both Guatemala and Paraguay moved their Israeli Embassy to Jerusalem in May, just weeks after the United States. The ...
Words from the President Who Achieved Economic Excellence without Sacrificing Freedom Post Date: 2018-07-06 23:03:15 by Deckard

On July 4th, Americans celebrate our freedoms. Unfortunately, we all but ignore the only President born on Independence DayCalvin Coolidge, who, though denigrated by historians, produced remarkable results without sacrificing them. Coolidge cut tax rates, tax rolls and the federal debt. America prospered. Real economic growth under Coolidge averaged 7% (the highest on record), with 0.4% inflation and 3.3% unemployment. But Hoover (who Coolidge said offered me unsolicited advice for six years, all of it bad) abandoned those policies for increased trade barriers and tax rates, which, along with monetary blunders, ushered in the Great Depression. Silent Cal was also far ...
Real Coke and Car Tariffs Post Date: 2018-07-06 22:56:14 by Deckard

Real Coke the most American of sodas comes nowadays from Mexico. I mean of course the stuff made with sugar and put into glass bottles, the way Coke was once made and sold here as opposed to the high fructose corn syrup sweetened sludge (in aluminum cans and plastic bottles) currently sold here. Interestingly, this is the case because of tariffs. On cane sugar, which costs artificially more here in the U.S. thanks to them in order to punish the manufacture of cheap sugar outside the U.S. It is why American-made soda not just Coke is generally sweetened with HFC instead of cane sugar. Almost everything else, too. The soda ...

Aides struggle to talk Trump out of launching invasion In August of 2017, President Trump surprised many by openly talking about the idea of launching a military attack on Venezuela. The public talk of this didnt last long, and it has been all but forgotten. But not forgotten by President Trump. Aides say that since August President Trump has repeatedly pushed aides on the matter, and that a number of different cabinet members have had to take turns trying to talk Trump out of the idea. They have succeeded so far, but Trump hasnt dropped the idea. Of course, there is no Congressional authorization, or anything resembling it, on the books authorizing a US invasion of Venezuela. ...

'Warlords Will Take Over' and Other Lines Libertarians Are Tired of Hearing Post Date: 2018-07-06 22:23:25 by Deckard

Venezuela didn't try real socialism. Bitcoin is a tool for criminals. Without big government, warlords will take over. We traveled deep into the woods of New Hampshire to ask the libertarians at the 2018 Porcupine Freedom Festival, a.k.a. PorcFest, what lines they're most tired of hearing. Organized by the Free State Project, the annual festival is a week-long campout for libertarians, anarchists, and other self-identified fans of freedom. They gathered to attend workshops, purchase cannabis-infused coffee with cryptocurrency, and talk philosophy around a raging bonfire. There was plenty of ideological diversity, but the attendees seemed united by the reactions that their ...

There have been two developments in the past month that illustrate clearly what is wrong with the White Houses perception of Americas place in the world. Going far beyond the oft-repeated nonsense that the United States is somehow the leader of the free world, the Trump Administration has taken several positions that sustain the bizarre view that such leadership can only be exercised if the United States is completely dominant in all relevant areas. Beyond that, Washington is now also asserting that those who do not go along with the charade and abide by the rules laid down will be subject to punishment to force compliance. The first issue has to do with outer ...
What’s the Matter with Libertarianism? Post Date: 2018-07-06 13:16:56 by Gatlin

Its models of human nature and society are terminally deficient. Who can object to the libertarian principles of individual freedom, personal responsibility, and the right to hold property - at least in the abstract? The problem is that the real world is never "abstract." All philosophies must ultimately confront reality, and the more radical versions of libertarianism (there are many, from extreme anarchism to limited government "minarchism") rely on terminally deficient models of human nature and society. Let's (very briefly) take a look at the problem. The libertarian model of individual psychology is grounded in the utilitarian, neo-classical economics model of ...

Economic growth continued in the US to close out the second quarter, boosting employment while wages still lag. The US jobs market performed better than expected in June, adding 213,000 jobs during the month and beating market guesses on the expansion. The Bureau of Labor Statistics Household survey continued to show problems in their data collection, however, leading to more wild swings in labor-force numbers: Total nonfarm payroll employment increased by 213,000 in June, and the unemployment rate rose to 4.0 percent, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Job growth occurred in professional and business services, manufacturing, and health care, while retail trade lost ...
LONDON MAYOR SADIQ KHAN AGREES TO FLY TRUMP IN A DIAPER BLIMP DURING POTUS VISIT Post Date: 2018-07-06 09:06:58 by IbJensen

The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, who has previously expressed disdain for President Trump, has agreed a request to fly a blimp made up to look like a baby Trump in a diaper during the Presidents state visit next week. The 20-foot-tall blimp has been made by a protester in Britain who intends to fly it over parliament simply to ridicule the President during the visit because in his own words, Trump has a tremendously fragile ego. We want to make sure he knows that all of Britain is looking down on him and laughing at him, the man Leo Murray told NBC News last month. Now, after originally saying that the Trump Baby was not legitimate protest, ...
SWEDEN: 64-YEAR-OLD MAN CONVICTED FOR POSTING CARTOON THAT MADE FUN OF ISLAM Post Date: 2018-07-06 08:56:15 by IbJensen

Posted satirical image on private Facebook group, fined for hate speech A 64-year-old Swedish man was convicted of hate speech after posting a cartoon to a private Facebook group that made fun of Islam. The man added a comment under the image in which he asserted that Muslims were pedophiles and must be stopped and (have) no access to Europe. The satirical image was drawn by cartoonist Jan-Erik Ander. It shows two Muslim men including one holding a pram with a child. Grandchild? asks one of the men, to which the other responds, No, this is my new wife! The joke is based on the factual premise that child marriage is routine in many ...
Feminist Writer Blames Trump For Being Out Of Shape: 'Now I Can't Open Jars' Post Date: 2018-07-06 08:42:50 by IbJensen

A feminist writer at The Guardian is having a hard time coping with President Donald Trump's election win. She can't even open jars now. On Thursday, in a piece that belongs on The Onion, Brigid Delaney took to publicly blaming Trump for her decision to stop going to the gym and now, subsequently, being so out of shape that she's unable to open jars and carry groceries. That's right, it's now Trump's fault feminists are out of shape. (Add it to the list!) The unhinged piece takes us through Delaney's shocking heartbreak over the election and her decision to skip the gym altogether. It started with a bet. Delaney, sure Hillary Clinton would take the White ...

We stepped up our involvement in Mecklenburg County after that, Shakir told me, referring to the Democratic primary for county sheriff in Mecklenburg County, N.C., in which the incumbent, Irwin Carmichael, had signed an agreement to help ICE locate undocumented immigrants. The A.C.L.U. paid for a radio ad that aired in the weeks leading up to the primary. Sheriff Carmichael works for Trumps deportation force, it said, detaining people for deportation, tearing families apart. Carmichaels challengers, it went on to say, pledge to stop working with Trumps deportation force. Carmichael, a strong favorite who had raised ...
Meet Hadrian, The Brick Laying Robot That Will Make Construction Workers Obsolete Post Date: 2018-07-06 07:44:02 by Deckard

Across the US, cities are independently passing measures to implement a $15 minimum wage - or mandating higher wages with an eye toward one day achieving that goal. But low-wage workers who are celebrating their fatter paychecks should enjoy the feeling while it lasts...because the more expensive workers become, the faster employers will work to replace those human workers with robots who can do the same job for a fraction of the cost. Already, the first burger restaurant run entirely by a robot has opened in San Francisco. But progress in robotics hasn't been confined to the food service industry. Last year, we introduced SAM (Semi-Automated Mason), a bricklaying robot that can do the ...

Should I stay or should I go now? That question, posed by the eminent political philosophers known as the Clash, is one that confronts any Republican with a glimmer of conscience. You used to belong to a conservative party with a white-nationalist fringe. Now its a white-nationalist party with a conservative fringe. If youre part of that fringe, what should you do? Veteran strategist Steve Schmidt, who ran John McCains 2008 presidential campaign, is the latest Republican to say no more. Recently he issued an anguished Twitter post: 29 years and nine months ago I registered to vote and became a member of the Republican Party which was founded ...
As Americans Celebrated “Freedom” on July 4, Here’s Proof We Are NOT Free Post Date: 2018-07-06 07:35:22 by Deckard

Every year on July 4th, Americans celebrate their freedom by remembering that the United States of America began as an uprising, intent on ending the overburdens of taxation, tyranny, oppression, and the pilfering of our countrys natural resources. So what has changed since 1776? Absolutely nothing. In fact, it has gotten worse. Today in America, citizens regularly make payments to the Internal Revenue Service of the U.S. Federal Government because they are too poor to pay their taxes in one lump sum. Those payments also have interest and fees applied and keep such citizens, it seems, permanently indebted to a government which has no problem spending its revenue (taxes) on ...

It may not feel this way but the libertarian fad is on its way out. Sure it dominates the English speaking Internet at the moment. Sure the absolute number of adherents is rapidly increasing by the day. However, as this oligarch funded movement is about to reach its moment of triumph, the engines will stall and it'll nosedive very rapidly (at least in its current form). This is primarily due to realization of early members that they are fighting for a hideous neo-feudal future that they will most likely not benefit from. To visualize the state of the movement, picture a fire that begins in the middle of the forest. As it spreads and rages in all directions, the original center is no ...

The Debt Clock Keeps Spinning Post Date: 2018-07-06 07:20:39 by Deckard

Federal debt now equals 78 percent of gross domestic product. In 1989, a New York businessman who was worried about chronic federal budget deficits erected the National Debt Clock in midtown Manhattan to keep a running tally of how much the U.S. government owes. The total had reached $2.7 trillion, and Seymour Durst wanted "to call attention to the soaring debt and each family's share of it." For a long time, it kept rising. In 1998, though, the clock abruptly stopped working. "The computer couldn't take it anymore," said Douglas Durst, who had succeeded his late father as head of the Durst Organization. "The numbers were too high." But eventually, ...
