During the 15th BRICS Summit, 22-24 August 2023, in Johannesburg, South Africa, chaired by South Africa’s President, Cyril Ramaphosa, six new countries were admitted to the bloc. The BRICS are now called the BRICS- 11 and include the five original nations, Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa. The new members invited to join the bloc as of 1 January 2024 are Argentina, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. The Treasury Department has released a new set of guidelines for financial institutions working to reduce their carbon footprint in the latest climate change push by the Biden administration. The principles, which are voluntary guidelines for firms with commitments to net-zero carbon emissions, were announced by Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen on Tuesday during a speech in New York at the Bloomberg Transition Finance Action Forum. One of his projects as a missionary has been the production of Édition Africaine (ÉA), a hymnal to serve francophone singers and congregations, particularly in Africa. A very confused and distressed young man wandered into our home on Sunday and began acting erratically. He was clearly suffering from a severe mental illness, probably schizophrenia, and from his nice clothes yet disheveled appearance I’m guessing he had a home somewhere but had been on the street for a few days.
