A 6-year-old who shot his teacher allegedly told another educator he wanted to light her on fire and watch her die, according to a report. Joe Biden met last week in Mexico City with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador for the 10th North American Leaders’ Summit. A US military base in southern Syria was targeted in a drone attack on Friday that wounded two members of a US-backed militia. US Central Command said the base at Al-Tanf was attacked by three “one-way attack drones.” CENTCOM said two of the drones were shot down, but one hit the compound, injuring two members of the Syrian Free Army, a group the US backed in its failed regime change effort against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. US Extends 101st Airborne Deployment in Southeastern Romania

The Pentagon has decided to extend a troop deployment in southeast Romania, which is part of the US military buildup in Eastern Europe that was ordered around the time Russia invaded Ukraine. The US currently has about 4,000 members of the US Army’s 101st Airborne Division based out of the Mihail Kogalniceanu Air Base near the Romanian city of Constanta on the Black Sea. In 2022, central banks will have purchased the largest amount of gold in recent history. According to the World Gold Council, central bank purchases of gold have reached a level not seen since 1967. The world’s central banks bought 673 metric tons in one month, and in the third quarter, the figure reached 400 metric tons. This morning, the Knights of Columbus released the results of their annual Marist poll on sanctity-of-life issues. They surveyed 1025 adults between January 6 and January 9 of this year. This Knights have been commissioning annual abortion polls for the past 15 years and inform debates over sanctity-of-life issues.
