A US drone gave support to an assault against jihadists in the Lake Chad basin region of Africa that involved the governments of Nigeria, Chad, Cameroon, and Niger, AFP reported on Monday. The report said that the militaries of the four nations announced the bombardment on Monday. Airstrikes targeting a convoy of trucks launched by unidentified aircraft were reported on the Syria-Iraq border on Sunday. According to The Times of Israel, Syria’s Sham FM radio station and other local media reports said six refrigerator trucks were hit. Adm. Rob Bauer, the head of NATO’s Military Committee, said that NATO is “ready” for a direct confrontation with Russia, citing the alliance’s recent efforts to boost its presence in Eastern Europe. The latest Nielsen ratings show that CNN’s viewership last week fell to its lowest level since 2014. And the demographic most critical to sponsors has all but disappeared. For the week ending January 22, CNN averaged just 444,000 viewers during prime viewing time, falling below 450,000 for the first time in nine years. Six of seven western states that rely on water from the Colorado River have reached consensus on a model to dramatically cut water use in the river basin, after the federal government called for action last August. I believe the Ukraine situation will be post-war sometime in 2023. This contradicts the recent words of the NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg and last year’s statements by US CJCS General Mark Milley. The recent Judge Napolitano interview with Scott Ritter is invaluable. Ritter, who has studied this situation in depth, and US warfighting and war-making for decades, explains that the war should be finished as early as August 2023. An MIT climate researcher is claiming that global warming is leading to a shift in winter weather going forward. Judah Cohen, the director of seasonal forecasting at AER (Atmospheric and Environmental Research) and a visiting professor at MIT believes that, due to global warming, February might replace January as the coldest of the winter months. This could mean that the world may expect more events like the great Texas Freeze of February 2021, when renewable energy sources failed, leading to the death of nearly 250 people. On January 17, the Saudi minister of finance, Mohammed Al-Jadaan, announced that the Saudi state is open to selling oil in currencies other than the dollar. “There are no issues with discussing how we settle our trade arrangements, whether it is in the US dollar, whether it is the euro, whether it is the Saudi riyal,” Al-Jadaan told Bloomberg TV. If the Saudi regime does indeed embrace substantial trade in currencies other than the dollar as part of its oil-export business, this would signal a shift away from the dollar as the dominant currency in global oil payments.
