Friends and family are talking, on Facebook, about the rapid rise in the price of eggs. Their posts also report that there are plenty of eggs in the dairy sections of local grocery stores. A few people, along with some reporters, blame this rapid increase in the price of eggs on price- gouging corporations. State governments take price gouging seriously. Vera Liddell, former director of food services at Harvey School District 152 in Illinois, has been charged with financial crimes and theft. The Cook County State's Attorney's office said Liddell embezzled some $1.5 million in chicken wings from the school system. Liddell placed orders for the food from July 2020 to February 2022 through the school's food vendor. And she picked it up in a school van. But the orders weren't authorized. Anyone whose been paying attention for a while, however, knows there's a 99.99 percent chance that the parties involved will soon raise the debt ceiling and the US will go back to adding to its $30-trillion-plus debt hoard as usual. Buckminster Fuller (1895-1983) was a creative thinker who came up with amazingly innovative ideas. Although he didn't invent the geodesic dome, he recognized its potential, invented the word with which we refer to it today, and popularized it. His "dome" got Fuller a lot of attention. However I would argue that another of his ideas — for which he has received little attention and credit — was far more important.
