Two of four Americans abducted in Mexico last week when their van was caught in a shootout were found dead, a top Mexican official said Tuesday. The two others have been found alive, with one wounded. Tamaulipas Gov. Américo Villarreal did not provide details on the extent of the wounded person's injuries, saying, "right now the ambulances and the rest of the security personnel are going to give the corresponding support.” The governor offered no additional information about where or how the U.S. citizens were found. Florida continued today its aggressive campaign to protect unborn babies when both the state House and state Senate introduced bills to ban abortions after six weeks of pregnancy. State Rep. Now that the legislature has adjourned, Wyoming Gov. Mark Gordon has 15 days to decide the fate of pro-life House Bill 152. The legislature tried to thread the needle in passing a bill that addresses a judge’s criticism of an earlier bill—HB52—which resulted in him granted a preliminary injunction. In 2021, the legislature passed a “trigger law” which was to take effect when and if Roe v. Wade was overturned. The Supreme Court did so in its Dobbs decision, handed down on June 24, 2022. But in August Wyoming Judge Melissa Owen granted a preliminary injunction halting enforcement of the law. Click for Full Text!

Tennessee Republicans are pushing back against drag shows by expanding upon a bill criminalizing such performances. Republican State Rep. Clay Doggett introduced Tennessee House Bill 30 in January. It bans minors from shows that entail “adult cabaret,” defined as “topless dancers, go-go dancers, exotic dancers, strippers, male or female impersonators who provide entertainment that appeals to prurient interest.” Click for Full Text!

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration does not have the power to override states that have banned access to the abortion pill, attorneys general in 21 states told a federal judge on Monday. In December, a German music magazine called VAN published claims that Robert Beaser, a professor at Juilliard since 1993 and chair of its composition department from 1994 to 2018, committed non-tactile sexual harassment against female students and offered assistance with professional advancement in a quid pro quo for possible romantic relations. Beaser’s late colleague Christopher Rouse, who died in 2019, was posthumously accused of similar conduct, and his living colleague, the composer John Corigliano, is alleged to have adopted a discriminatory policy of not working with female students. Crosby, an expert on torture and other trauma, described the painful repeated insertion of plastic tubes into the anal cavity of the defendant in the case, Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri, over a period of four years. In response to growing encounters of illegals crossing into the United States from Canada, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has reportedly assigned 25 extra Border Patrol agents to a busy area of the northeast border. According to NBC News, some of the agents temporarily reassigned to the northern border were formerly stationed on the southern border. They are now covering the Swanton Sector of the U.S.-Canada border, which encompasses some 24,000 square miles and includes all of the state of Vermont and parts of New York and New Hampshire. In Georgia, the Forsyth County school system has agreed to pay the legal fees of a group of mothers who sued to overturn a system policy that banned them from reading books from school libraries at school board meetings. Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost has approved the language of a constitutional amendment aimed at making abortion a right in the state constitution. The amendment will now head to the Ohio Ballot Board, which has 10 days to certify the language. It had been filed by abortion industry giant Planned Parenthood, Pro-Choice Ohio, the Abortion Fund of Ohio, and the American Civil Liberties Union.
