Obama defies Senate, appointing consumer, labor officials [Full Thread] Post Date: 2012-01-04 23:22:22 by Mad Dog

WASHINGTON A defiant President Barack Obama sidestepped Congress on Wednesday and appointed a new consumer watchdog, locking horns with Republicans, who immediately accused the president of exceeding his authority to appoint a director to an agency they oppose. Speaking at a high school in the election battleground state of Ohio with his nominee for the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau by his side, Obama struck a populist tone and blamed congressional Republicans for stalling the appointment of former Ohio Attorney General Richard Cordray as Americas consumer watchdog. Ive got an obligation to act on behalf of the American people, the ...
Ron Paul’s Soros Defense Plan Post Date: 2012-01-02 15:36:09 by Mad Dog

It was recently observed that Ron Paul was to the left of Obama on national security and the best evidence for that statement can be found when one year ago Ron Paul joined forces with Barney Frank on a proposal to gut national defense via a panel of experts, quite a few of whom were tied to George Soros. In July 2010, Barney Frank and Ron Paul co-authored a Huffington Post article rolling out their Sustainable Defense Task Force. The Task Force consisting of experts on military expenditures that span the ideological spectrum would recommend a trillion dollars in defense cuts. The experts, however, didnt quite span the ideological spectrum more like ...
THE INAUGURATION OF POLICE STATE USA 2012. Obama Signs the “National Defense Authorization Act " Post Date: 2012-01-01 21:31:47 by Hondo68

With minimal media debate, at a time when Americans were celebrating the New Year with their loved ones, the National Defense Authorization Act " H.R. 1540 was signed into law by President Barack Obama. The actual signing took place in Hawaii on the 31st of December. According to Obama's "signing statement", the threat of Al Qaeda to the Security of the Homeland constitutes a justification for repealing fundamental rights and freedoms, with a stroke of the pen. The controversial signing statement (see transcript below) is a smokscreen. Obama says he disagrees with the NDAA but he signs it into law. "[I have] serious reservations with ...

ANCHORAGE The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has awarded $5,660,544 to Alaska as a performance bonus for streamlining and improving Childrens Health Insurance Program Reauthorization (CHIPRA) processes. HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius awarded a total of $296 million to 23 states, including Alaska. More children now have the advantages health coverage provides, Sebelius said. And parents now have the security of knowing their children can get the health care they need without worrying that an illness could leave them with a lifetime of medical bills. New data show 1.2 million more children nationwide have health insurance since ...

(playing of Ron Paul spoof) RUSH: Actually it's a commercial for Washington Republicans, not Ron Paul. Here is Ron Paul in the debate last night. This is Bret Baier. I thought the Fox moderators did a good job last night, too. I thought it was good. (interruption) Yeah, "fair and balanced," they were good. In response to the passage by the House and the Senate of the National Defense Appropriations Act of 2012 (NDAA), Stewart Rhodes (left), founder of Oath Keepers, announced a national effort to recall every member who voted for the act. Oath Keepers was founded by Rhodes to encourage current members of the military services and veterans to keep their oath to protect and defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic. Members commit to following certain orders we will not obey, including, as especially relevant to NDAA, Number Three: We will NOT obey any order to detain American citizens as unlawful enemy combatants or to subject them ...

The Phony Arguments for Presidential War Powers Post Date: 2011-12-28 23:32:27 by We The People

A U.S. president has attacked another country, so its time for the scam artists to pull out their fake constitutional arguments in support of our dear leader. Not all of them are doing so, to be sure in fact, its been rather a hoot to hear supporters of the Iraq war suddenly caterwauling about the Constitutions restraints on the power of the president to initiate hostilities abroad. But Im told that radio host Mark Levin criticized Ron Paul on his program the other day on the precise grounds that the congressman didnt know what he was talking about when it came to war powers and the Constitution. That means its time to lay out all the common ...
The NDAA Repeals More Rights [Ron Paul Editorial] Post Date: 2011-12-28 17:12:59 by Capitalist Eric

Little by little, in the name of fighting terrorism, our Bill of Rights is being repealed. The 4th amendment has been rendered toothless by the PATRIOT Act. No more can we truly feel secure in our persons, houses, papers, and effects when now there is an exception that fits nearly any excuse for our government to search and seize our property. Of course, the vast majority of Americans may say Im not a terrorist, so I have no reason to worry. However, innocent people are wrongly accused all the time. The Bill of Rights is there precisely because the founders wanted to set a very high bar for the government to overcome in order to deprive an individual of life or liberty. To ...

Steve Bierfeldt, director of development for Ron Pauls Campaign for Liberty, thought he was having a good day. At a regional Campaign for Liberty event in Missouri, Bierfeldt had sold thousands of dollars worth of conference tickets, bumper stickers, T-shirts, and books, and was now in the security line at Lambert-St. Louis International Airport, waiting to catch a flight back to Washington, D.C. But the federal government had other ideas. After discovering a metal box with more than $4,700 in cash and checks inside Bierfeldts luggage, officials from the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) detained him for further screening. The TSA, you will recall, is the agency ...
Debt-Free United States Notes Were Once Issued Under JFK And The U.S. Government Still Has The Power To Issue Debt-Free Money Post Date: 2011-12-19 19:04:58 by A K A Stone

Most Americans have no idea that the U.S. government once issued debt-free money directly into circulation. America once thrived under a debt-free monetary system, and we can do it again. The truth is that the United States is a sovereign nation and it does not need to borrow money from anyone. Back in the days of JFK, Federal Reserve Notes were not the only currency in circulation. Under JFK (at at various other times), a limited number of debt-free United States Notes were issued by the U.S. Treasury and spent by the U.S. government without any new debt being created. In fact, each bill said "United States Note" right at the top. Unfortunately, United States Notes are not ...

The problem with social engineering is that the engineers dont know how to drive the train. More like a complicated machine than a single celled organism society is a collection of individuals. Human nature decrees that freedom of choice is an inherent part of our social DNA therefore a healthy society is one built upon the choices and decisions freely arrived upon by the individuals who make up the whole. It is the self-interest and self-direction of these choices which build into the productive life of a free society. Adam Smith addresses the contributions of societies individuals when he says, intends only his own security; and by directing that industry in such a manner as ...

The Constitution is a framework, and thus dopes not need everything covered under each part of it in excruciating detail as law codes.

ANDREW: Do other libertarians agree with your idea of a libertarian society? CODE NAME CAIN: Well, we do have our differences. For example, the Cato Institute is severely compromised by numerous left-leaning libertarians such as David Boaz. The Cato tag-alongs and certain other prominent libertarians imagine that an extremely small government would be better than no government at all. They are, of course, wrong. They have not yet recognized that every government is destructive of what they ...

Newt Checks and Balances Liberal Judges By Peter Ferrara on 11.16.11 @ 6:11AM Presenting the most powerful challenge to the liberal establishment in this campaign. The genius of America's Founding Fathers is reflected in the innovative system of checks and balances they adopted for our government, to prevent abuse of power by any authority. Congressional legislation is subject to veto by the President, and to review for constitutionality by the courts. The President and his Executive branch are subject to the laws passed by Congress, enforced by the courts, and presidential appointments are subject to confirmation by the Senate. So are treaties. The President appoints the judges, ...
What A Little-Known Colonial Pamphlet Tells Us About the Constitution Post Date: 2011-11-12 19:13:43 by A K A Stone

Between 1764 and the Declaration of Independence in 1776 Americans produced a rich series of pamphlets and resolutions listing their grievances against the central government of the British Empire. As I have pointed out before, reading those pamphlets is very helpful in understanding what the Constitution really means. And ignorance of them contributes to common constitutional mistakes. These pamphlets are particularly useful in comprehending the Founders version of federalism. This is because the constitutional balance between states and federal government partly reflected what the Founders had wanted the balance to be between colonies and imperial government. One of the most ...

The REAL Demand Post Date: 2011-11-10 19:37:38 by Capitalist Eric

The American people are on the precipice of either a new Renaissance or a Dark Age. We must set aside our tribal, philosophical and moral differences to save ourselves. A protest must be articulated into words. It must include clear and concise changes to be made or it will be denigrated and labeled as a riot, a rabble or the work of anarchists. Our Founding Fathers knew this and presented their grievances and demands eloquently in 1776 with the Declaration of Independence. As the discontent of Americans grows, we are seeing numerous demands from various sources. However, many of these demands do not address the root causes of our problems and only divide us and destroy our cohesion. The ...
US Appeals Court Upholds Obama Health Care Law Post Date: 2011-11-08 11:26:20 by Brian S

WASHINGTON (AP) A conservative-leaning panel of U.S. appellate judges is upholding President Barack Obama's health care law as constitutional, helping set up a Supreme Court fight. The U.S. Court of Appeals in Washington issued a split opinion Tuesday upholding the law. The court agreed to dismiss a Christian legal group's lawsuit claiming the requirement that all Americans get health insurance is unconstitutional and violates religious freedom. The requirement has been the subject of several lawsuits, some of which have ruled it unconstitutional and others that have upheld the law. That means the Supreme Court is sure to decide the fate of Obama's signature law. The ...
High Court to Consider Police GPS Tracking Post Date: 2011-11-07 12:36:53 by Brian S

For a month in 2005, police in Washington tracked Antoine Joness every move -- or at least those he made in his Jeep Grand Cherokee. Using a GPS device authorities had secretly attached to the vehicle, investigators in the nations capital were able to tie him to a suspected drug stash house. Jones was eventually arrested and convicted in federal court of conspiracy to distribute cocaine. The case is now before the U.S. Supreme Court, raising far- reaching questions about privacy in an age when technology gives police unprecedented power to peer into Americans day-to-day activities with cameras, computers and tracking devices. In arguments tomorrow, the justices will ...
