(CBSNews) WASHINGTON - Keeping American weapons from getting into the hands of Mexican gangs is the goal of a program called "Project Gunrunner." But critics say it's doing exactly the opposite. CBS News investigative correspondent Sharyl Attkisson reports on what she found. December 14, 2010. The place: a dangerous smuggling route in Arizona not far from the border. A special tactical border squad was on patrol when gunfire broke out and agent Brian Terry was killed. Kent, Brian's brother, said "he was my only brother. That was the only brother I had. I'm lost."The assault rifles found at the murder were traced back to a U.S. gun shop. Where they came ...

As the press release puts it, this fund will "leverage technology and business model innovation to improve energy efficiency, reduce waste and emissions, harness renewable energy, and more efficiently use natural resources, among other applications." Obama often meets with lobbyists at a complex just off the W.H. grounds. | AP Photo, John Shinkle/POLITICO Caught between their bosss anti-lobbyist rhetoric and the reality of governing, President Barack Obamas aides often steer meetings with lobbyists to a complex just off the White House grounds and several of the lobbyists involved say they believe the choice of venue is no accident. It allows the Obama administration to keep these lobbyist meetings shielded from public view and out of Secret Service logs collected on visitors to the White House and later released to the public. Theyre doing it on the side. Its better than nothing, ...

Would you believe it if I told you: Every day. We're talking Richard Trumka here ... the quintessential union goon. He says that he actually visits the White House two or three times a week, and has a conversation with someone in the White House or in the administration every day. Are you getting any idea where the power is in Washington? Who has the ...
Obama recruits an army of community organizers to carry his 'movement forward for years to come' Post Date: 2011-02-23 09:21:57 by Happy Quanzaa

The community organizer who became president has launched a massive pre-reelection year campaign to assemble and train an army of new community organizers to carry Obama's "movement forward for years to come." Strengthening "our democracy" presumably has something to do with reelecting the revered leader in 2012. However, the recruiting message says nothing about politics or election campaigns and strangely talks in military terms of "a grassroots program that aims to put boots on the ground and help foster a new generation of leaders -- not just to help win elections but to strengthen our democracy in communities across the country." The message about ...

Morgan had no idea that the person he was talking to outside a Milwaukee bar was a Walker campaign aide with an iPhone voice recorder app. Im kinda at the center of a maelstrom right now in terms of kicking scott walkers ass. Everyone has priorities. During the past week Barack Obama has found no time to condemn the attacks that Libyan dictator Moammar Gadhafi has launched on the Libyan people. But he did find time to be interviewed by a Wisconsin television station and weigh in on the dispute between Republican Gov. Scott Walker and the state's public employee unions. Walker was staging "an assault on unions," he said, and added that "public employee unions make enormous contributions to our states and our citizens." Enormous contributions, yes -- to the Democratic Party and the Obama campaign. Unions, most of whose members are public employees, gave Democrats some $400 million in the ...

Internet radio host Charlie McGrath of Wide Awake News warns that for those looking for a singular set of events that presage a paradigm shift into the far-from-equilibrium event we could refer to as collapse, then simply pay attention to whats going on around the world and right here at home. Though weve previously discussed that the collapse occurred in 2008 and we are in the midst of the big bangs explosion as of right now, history will mark certain events as having been the defining moments that changed the world as we know it. These events will often times play out in perceptively slow motion because were living them minute-by-minute and day-by-day, ...

Have you heard the news? The stock market is absolutely soaring and according to the U.S. government and the Federal Reserve we are in the beginning stages of a robust economic recovery. Yippee! The S&P 500 is up 6.8 percent so far in 2011, and the stock market recently hit a two and a half year high. So shouldn't we all be celebrating? Well, if stock market performance was an accurate measure of economic health, then Zimbabwe would have had one of the healthiest economies on the entire globe during the last decade. But just like Zimbabwe's stock market was artificially pumped up with "funny money" that was rapidly being devalued, so is ours. All of the ...

Barack Obama recently made the following statement to American families that are struggling to survive in this economy: "If youre a family trying to cut back, you might skip going out to dinner, or you might put off a vacation." A few days after making that statement Obama sent his wife and children off on yet another vacation, this time to a luxury ski hotel in Vail, Colorado. But the Obamas are not the only ones enjoying the high life. Wealthy corporate executives and greedy Wall Street fatcats insist that profit margins are too tight to hire more American workers, and yet sales of luxury cars, private jets and vacation homes are soaring. Meanwhile, most American ...

Not enough money for a 2012 primary? ("lack of funds", or fear of pro-American third party patriots?) Post Date: 2011-02-19 16:39:58 by Hondo68

A handful of states, including Massachusetts, are considering abolishing their presidential primaries mainly because there's not enough money in the budget: Massachusetts Secretary of State Bill Galvin says theres not enough money to run a primary in March 2012, according to Gov. Deval Patricks budget for the next fiscal year. The number that was submitted by the governor despite the fact that he suggested, or his administration suggested, that it would be a 2 percent cut, in fact is a far more drastic cut. My budget will go down anyways for the coming fiscal year in the elections area because we have one fewer election in the upcoming fiscal year than we ...

Why can’t the US legalize drugs? There’s ‘too much money in it,’ Clinton says Post Date: 2011-02-19 12:51:29 by Hondo68

In what will likely be seen as something of a Freudian slip by the US Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton said recently in a Mexican news interview that the United States cannot legalize drugs as a means of fighting the black market because "there is just too much money in it." Asked by Denise Maerker of Televisa what she thought of drug legalization, Clinton said it was unlikely to work. "There is just too much money in it," Clinton said. "You can legalize small amounts for possession, but those who are making so much money selling, they have to be stopped. They cant be given an even easier road to take, because they will then find it in their interest to ...

House Votes to Overthrow (Obama's) 'Czars' Republicans successfully added an amendment to the continuing resolution that would leave President Barack Obamas senior advisers on policy issues including health care energy and others out of a job. The vote was 249-179. Rep. Steve Scalise (R-La.) offered the amendment that blocks funding for various policy advisers to combat what he called a very disturbing proliferation of czars under Obama. These unappointed, unaccountable people who are literally running a shadow government, heading up these little fiefdoms that nobody can really seem to identify where they are or what theyre doing, ...

Rep. Dennis Kucinich of Cleveland flew on Air Force One last year as a guest of President Obama. WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Federal Election Commission on Thursday ordered Rep. Dennis Kucinich's 2004 presidential campaign to give taxpayers a $52,443 refund, ending a dispute that's lasted nearly four years. Kucinich's 2004 campaign got $3.3 million in matching funds from the U.S. Treasury, but wasn't supposed to use any of it after March 4, 2004, when his eligibility for matching funds expired because he failed to receive 10 percent of the vote in two consecutive primary elections. Despite that, the FEC found the Cleveland Democratic congressman used at least $175,696 that ...

(NATIONAL) -- Could it be the U.S. government thinks peaceful, civilian protest against government is fine on the streets of Cairo, Egypt but not on U.S. soil? As Secretary of State Hillary Clinton gave a speech at George Washington University yesterday condemning governments that arrest protestors and do not allow free expression - and lauding freedom of speech on the Internet - 71-year-old military veteran Ray McGovern was grabbed from the audience in plain view of her by police and an unidentified official in plain clothes and hustled out of the building and, according to McGovern and his supporters, was brutalized and left bleeding in jail. What McGovern did was simply ...
