Trump Supporters Walk Out of Georgia Delegate Fight After Party Picks Cruz Supporter…’Uproar in the Hall’ Post Date: 2016-04-16 20:32:01 by cranky

Donald Trump supporters walked out of a delegate election in Georgia Saturday to protest a vote that robbed Trump of all of his slated delegates from a district that he won in the primary.A Cruz-Rubio alliance at the district convention in Buford, Georgia helped to knock Trump supporters out of the districts national delegation altogether. Cruz supporters implied that Trumps people would embarrass the district at the convention in Cleveland. Then things got heated. This morning, I attended Georgia 7th Congressional District GOP convention as a delegate and a Donald Trump supporter. We were there to elect the 3 delegates and 3 alternates to the national ...
Why the GOP can't take the nomination from Donald Trump Post Date: 2016-04-15 10:45:12 by cranky

Is it me, or does the argument that the Republican nomination can be taken from Donald Trump at a contested convention make almost no sense? It's not that it would be unfeasible for Ted Cruz or some other candidate to win a majority of delegates after the first ballot is cast at the convention. If anything, it seems more and more likely that Cruz, given his shrewdness at delegate selection, would be able to pull this off as early as the second ballot. However, if Trump arrives in Cleveland having won the most votes, the most contests, and the most delegates -- all of which is very likely -- depriving him of the nomination would be an unprecedented move in the modern political era. And ...
‘America First’ – The Trump Slogan the Establishment Hates Post Date: 2016-04-15 10:19:26 by nativist nationalist

Why do they hate Donald Trump? Why has the Establishment pulled out all the stops in an effort to smear him, stop him, and crush him underfoot? Every single day the mainstream media unleashes a foam-flecked fusillade of fury at the GOP front-runner: hes a racist, hes corrupt, his campaign manager is a bully, he incites violence, etc. etc. ad nauseam. Of course the media is going to attack any Republican candidate. However, this time the GOP elite is joining in, and the level of ferocity is something we havent seen since 1964. That was the year Barry Goldwaters trip to Germany provoked a report by Daniel ...
WaPo: Cruz Likely to Block Trump on a Second Ballot at the GOP Convention Post Date: 2016-04-13 11:08:26 by cranky

From Ed OKeefe writing at the Washington Post:Republican presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) is close to ensuring that Donald Trump cannot win the GOP nomination on a second ballot at the partys July convention in Cleveland, scooping up scores of delegates who have pledged to vote for him instead of the front-runner if given the chance. The push by Cruz means that it is more essential than ever for Trump to clinch the nomination by winning a majority of delegates to avoid a contested and drawn-out convention fight, which Trump seems almost certain to lose. The GOP race now rests on two cliffhangers: Can Trump lock up the nomination before Cleveland? And if not, can Cruz ...
Billionaires fund anti-Trump delegate push [Ricketts family] Post Date: 2016-04-13 08:42:25 by Tooconservative

First they spent tens of millions trying to boost their favorite presidential candidates, then they poured cash into ads attacking Donald Trump, and now some of the biggest donors on the right are turning their attention to the delegate fight. Anti-Trump billionaires are funding ground operations in an increasing number of states to try to ensure the selection of national convention delegates who oppose Trump. The strategy is being executed by the anti-Trump Our Principles PAC, which has a stated goal of blocking the bombastic billionaire from clinching the GOP presidential nomination before the partys convention in July. But the PACs officials acknowledge that they likely ...

Sen. Cory Gardner (R-CO) is questioning how GOP frontrunner Donald Trump could defeat the Islamic State (ISIS) after he seemed unable to figure out the Colorado delegate process.
“How on earth are you going to defeat ISIS if you can’t figure out the @cologop convention?” the Colorado senator tweeted.
Gardner took to Twitter unleashing a series of tweets blasting Trump for claiming that the Colorado delegate selection was a fix after Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) swept nearly all the delegates at the state GOP convention: I've attended CO GOP conventions for years. It requires organization & attn to grassroots to win. Cruz had it. Trump didn't. End of story.

In the race for the Republican nomination, Donald Trump would seem to be in the catbird seat. He has won the most states, the most delegates and the most votes--by nearly two million. He has brought out the largest crowds and is poised for huge wins in the largest states of the East, New York and Pennsylvania. Yet, there is a growing probability that the backroom boys will steal the nomination from him at a brokered convention in Cleveland. Over the weekend, Colorado awarded all 34 delegates to Ted Cruz. The fix had been in since August, when party officials, alarmed at Trumps popularity, decided it would be best if Colorado Republicans were not allowed to vote on the partys ...

This came in the email today from James a disgruntled Colorado Republican voter after the party elites gave all of the state delegates to Senator Ted Cruz. On Saturday Ted Cruz supporters took all 13 of the delegates up for grabs at the Colorado GOP Convention to complete a clean sweep of the state. But it was not without controversy. There never was a vote Party elites decided on who got the delegates. After Cruz swept the Colorado delegates the Colorado Republican Party tweeted this out: From James Included is my letter to the Colorado GOP head and his reply. Ted Cruz's and Marco Rubio's supporters have teamed up in Arkansas to pack the state delegation with individuals who'll turn against Donald Trump in a contested convention. Since Rubio ended his presidential bid March 15, his network of party insiders has lined up behind Cruz to win delegates who'd vote for the Texas senator once they're no longer bound to Trump in a floor fight. Trump won Arkansas' GOP primary March 1 with 32.8 percent of the vote compared to Cruz's 30.5 percent and Rubio's 24.9 percent. But Cruz's canny operatives, with Rubio riding shotgun, is likely to thwart Trump in the delegate election. Trump's organization is as sloppy in ...

With the Republican nominating convention less than 100 days away, the GOP's presidential candidate isn't the only thing still up for grabs. Also in play: The rules by which the nominee will be chosen. Yet there's one certainty about the party's July gathering in Cleveland: A candidate, an alliance of candidates or party leaders backed by enough delegates will be able to change the procedures any way they want. Front-runner Donald Trump has 743 of the 1,237 delegates needed to leave the GOP convention as nominee. His closest competitor, Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, is fewer than 200 delegates behind. Yet many top Republicans view both as certain losers who could cost them ...

After winning only six delegates in Wisconsin, and with Ted Cruz poaching delegates in states he has won, like Louisiana, Donald Trump either wins on the first ballot at Cleveland, or Trump does not win. Yet, as that huge, roaring reception he received in his first post-Wisconsin appearance in Bethpage, N.Y., testifies, the Donald remains not only the front-runner, but the most exciting figure in the race. Moreover, after the New York, New England, mid-Atlantic and California primaries, Trump should be within striking distance of the 1,237 delegates needed for the nomination. He will then have to persuade uncommitted delegates to back him, and perhaps do a deal with one of the defeated ...

Analysis: How everyone wins if Donald Trump loses...including Trump By Will Rahn CBS News April 6, 2016, 6:00 AM Analysis Nearly everyone in the Republican Party could benefit from Donald Trump losing, including Trump himself. The question is just about how he loses, and when. It's obvious at this point that Trump is rapidly deflating. Even putting aside his loss in Wisconsin Tuesday night, every indication we have is that he would be decimated in a general election. According to a Washington Post poll from last week, he's losing to Hillary Clinton by double digits. Demographics that went heavily for Mitt Romney, such as married white women, despise him. He's even ...

As president, Donald Trump would sell off $16 trillion worth of U.S. government assets in order to fulfill his pledge to eliminate the national debt in eight years, senior adviser with the campaign Barry Bennett said. "The United States government owns more real estate than anybody else, more land than anybody else, more energy than anybody else," Bennett told Chris Jansing Sunday on MSNBC. "We can get rid of government buildings we're not using, we can extract the energy from government lands, we can do all kinds of things to extract value from the assets that we hold."
