The Pentagon has decided to extend a troop deployment in southeast Romania, which is part of the US military buildup in Eastern Europe that was ordered around the time Russia invaded Ukraine. The US currently has about 4,000 members of the US Armys 101st Airborne Division based out of the Mihail Kogalniceanu Air Base near the Romanian city of Constanta on the Black Sea. The New York Times said the base is just a seven-minute rocket flight across the Black Sea from where Russian forces have settled in Crimea. Click for Full Text!

People underestimate how much resistance to imperial edicts out of DC there is, they underestimate how many people are waiting for the fall, but they also misunderstand that this resistance is taking a muscular but passive form. Deep South SR on Twitter Of course, the Joe Biden classified document scandal is less about the documents per se than it is about the Biden family business, which was taking large sums of money from shady foreign interests for unspecified services rendered. Is a Real War about to Break Out in Ukraine? Post Date: 2023-01-22 22:49:57 by Charles_Byrd

As readers know, I am a critic of Putins limited military operation in Ukraine. It was eight years late, and its limited objective is unrealistic. Putin needed to occupy Kiev the minute he saw the US coup unfolding. Failing this, he needed to reincorporate Donbass in 2014 prior to its partial occupation by neo-Nazi militias and Ukrainian military. He failed to act in a timely fashion because he was deceived by the West with the Minsk Agreement, which was a delaying tactic to keep Russia at bay until the US had built and equipped a Ukrainian Army. I understand why the Kremlin limited its intervention last February to clearing the Independent Donbass Republics of Ukrainian ...

NYT: US Considering Helping Ukraine Strike Crimea Post Date: 2023-01-20 01:40:22 by Charles_Byrd

The New York Times reported Wednesday that the US is warming to the idea of helping Ukraine strike Crimea, something the Biden administration has previously avoided due to the risk of provoking a major response from Russian President Vladimir Putin. Citing unnamed US officials, the report said that after months of discussions with Ukrainian officials, the administration is now starting to concede that Kyiv may need the power to strike the Russian sanctuary, even if such a move increases the risk of escalation. Oleksiy Arestovych submitted his resignation as an advisor to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Tuesday after comments he made about a Russian missile hitting an apartment building in Dnipro. After the strike in Dnipro on Saturday, Arestovych said the Russian missile that hit the building may have fallen after it was shot down by Ukrainian air defenses. The comments drew heavy criticism in Ukraine, leading Arestovych to say that no one would blame Ukraine for the incident since it happened as Russia was bombarding the country. Click for Full Text!

Former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger said in a video address to the World Economic Forum (WEF) on Tuesday that Ukraine joining NATO would be an appropriate outcome of the war, reversing his previous position that Kyiv shouldnt join the Western military alliance. Before this war, I was opposed to membership of Ukraine in NATO because I feared that it would start exactly the process that we have seen now, Kissinger said. Now that this process has reached this level, the idea of a neutral Ukraine under these conditions is no longer meaningful. Click for Full Text!

Indians regard the United States as the largest military threat after China and put more blame on NATO and Washington than on Russian President Vladimir Putin for his actions in Ukraine, based on findings from a new survey. Around 43 percent of the 1,000 respondents deemed China with whom India has a long-standing border contest and has seen hostilities rise again since 2020 as the largest threat, the survey by Morning Consult, a U.S.- based global business intelligence company, revealed. The US has dipped into stockpiles of arms it keeps in Israel and South Korea to supply Ukraine with more artillery shells, The New York Times reported Tuesday, citing anonymous US and Israeli officials. The stockpile in Israel is meant to supply the US for its conflicts in the Middle East and is also used occasionally by Israel. Between the two stockpiles, the US has shipped hundreds of thousands of artillery shells to Ukraine, as Kyivs war effort is entirely reliant on the flow of US ammunition. Click for Full Text!
War Lessons Post Date: 2023-01-18 01:36:43 by Charles_Byrd

Most likely, the first war in human history was one group of guys rushing at another group of guys, swinging fists and anything they could use as a club. It did not take long before a man decided that it was a good idea to use his hunting weapons to ward off these attacks or compliment these attacks. After all, if a gang of men with spears could take down a large animal, the same tactics would work on humans. From there the arms race was on among the human species. The club was probably the first weapon of war. The spear would be the first tool converted for use in war. The shield was the first tool of war created specifically for use in combat against other men. Unlike the club, the ...

Ive been reading Raymond Chandlers The High Window for the second time. The plot is convoluted. Somehow it got me thinking about Ukraine and Israel. Both countries are complicated crime scenes of U.S. foreign policy. They will never be objectively investigated and exposed. Like The High Window, plots and subplots embedded with events in Ukraine and Israel are confusing and loaded with smoke screens. It is difficult to navigate. U.S. Strategic Aim: Break and Dismember Russia; or Maintain U.S. Dollar Hegemony? Or a Muddled ‘Both’? Post Date: 2023-01-13 02:18:57 by Charles_Byrd

A strategic aim would require a unitary purpose that could be succinctly outlined. It would require additionally a compelling clarity about the means by which the aim would be achieved and a coherent vision about what a successful outcome would actually look like. Winston Churchill described the aim of WW2 as the destruction of Germany. But this was platitude, and no strategy. Why was Germany to be destroyed? What interest did destroying such a major trading partner achieve? Was it to save the imperial trading system? The latter failed (after Suez) and Germany went into a deep recession. So, what was the end result intended to be? At one point, a completely ...
