4-star admiral wants to confront China. White House says not so fast

The U.S. military’s top commander in the Pacific is arguing behind closed doors for a more confrontational approach to counter and reverse China’s strategic gains in the South China Sea, appeals that have met resistance from the White House at nearly every turn.Adm. Harry Harris is proposing a muscular U.S. response to China's island-building that may include launching aircraft and conducting military operations within 12 miles of these man-made islands, as part of an effort to stop what he has called the "Great Wall of Sand" before it extends within 140 miles from the Philippines' capital, sources say.Harris and his U.S. Pacific Command have been waging a ...

Success in Syria

anyone notice the success the Syrian army has been having in Syria or since the US is not involved perhaps it isn't newsworthy? Interesting what happens when you take some of the combatants out of the picture and let an army do what it is supposed to do. I think this might upset the Turks and the Saudi a little and perhaps even the US military industrial complex because we can bet Russia will get all those reequipment and reconstruction dollars. The Syrian army might even finish the war before the US allies, now I can remember they ran last in another important race, remember WWII

That which you fail to finish you condemn yourself to repeat

Sabre rattling has reached new heights as the North Koreans chuck a tantrum because their threats are not taken seriously and someone wants to take their toys away. Once again we move closer to war on the Korean pensinula, a result of not finishing off the cold war conflict. A world tired of war can be excused for taking the easy way out, but a ceasation of hostilities does not mean the war is over, at least not in the minds of one of the belligerants. the proof of statesmanship will be seen in the way world leaders respond and threats of nuclear war from the Dump will be unhelpfull Click for Full Text!

Is Donald Trump an extremeist?

In the light of comments made by Trump following the Brussels attacks you have to ask whether Trump is an extremist too, just as dangeruous as those he rails against. DONALD Trump reacted to the explosions that rocked Brussels on Tuesday by describing the it as a “disaster city” and warning that “this is just the beginning”. Speaking on NBC’s TODAY, Trump said: “Belgium is no longer Belgium. Belgium is not the Belgium you and I knew from 20 years ago, which was one of the most beautiful and safest cities in the world. “Belgium is a horror show right now. Terrible things are happening. People are leaving. People are afraid. This all happened because, ...

Marco Rubio speaks in South Carolina. The movement's unlikely 20-year reign over the GOP could now be coming to an end. In the early winter months of 1998, in a series of drab meeting rooms in the Rayburn House Office Building near the Capitol in Washington, DC, a group of dissident conservative intellectuals, a tweeded and mostly forgotten faction of foreign policy thinkers calling themselves neoconservatives, scored the first in a series of surprise political coups that would lead them to the heights of power — and, within a few years, change the world. The meeting rooms held what House Speaker Newt Gingrich and Sen. Bob Dole called the Congressional Policy Advisory Board. ...

The Syrian government and the main opposition umbrella group say they accept the terms of a deal to cease hostilities from Saturday. The government said it would halt "combat operations" in line with the plan announced by the US and Russia. But the opposition said its acceptance depended on government forces ending sieges and air strikes of civilians. The deal will not apply to the two main jihadist groups in Syria, Islamic State (IS) and the rival al-Nusra Front. Al-Nusra is an affiliate of al-Qaeda and forms part of a major rebel alliance that controls large parts of the country's north-west. More than 250,000 people have died in almost five years of war in Syria. ...

World powers have agreed to seek a nationwide "cessation of hostilities" in Syria to begin in a week's time, after talks in Germany. The halt will not apply to the battle against jihadist groups Islamic State (IS) and al-Nusra Front. Ministers from the International Syria Support Group also agreed to accelerate and expand aid deliveries. The announcement comes as the Syrian army, backed by Russian air strikes, advances in Aleppo province. The move threatens to encircle tens of thousands of civilians in rebel-held parts of the major city of Aleppo. US Secretary of State John Kerry admitted the ceasefire plan was "ambitious" and said the real test would be ...

Gee it's tough when your proxy war doesn't go the way you want. Turkey is looking for support in its war on the Kurds and isn't finding it, so it is suggesting the US is responsible for its woes in an endeavour to defect its interal political situation. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has lashed out at the US over its support for Syria's main Kurdish group. The failure to recognise the Democratic Union Party (PYD) as a terrorist group was creating a "sea of blood", he said. Turkey says the PYD, on which the US relies to battle so-called Islamic State in Syria, is an offshoot of the banned Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK). Mr Erdogan's comments ...

Federal Court Says North Carolina’s Racially Motivated Gerrymandering Is Unconstitutional

The state's bizarrely shaped districts decrease the power of black voters. Shortly after North Carolina Republicans took over the state legislature in 2010, they drew up new district maps to determine the boundaries of congressional and state legislative districts, carving them up to their partisan advantage. On Friday, a federal court declared that two of those congressional districts were gerrymandered in a way that was racially discriminatory, deliberately clustering many black voters — who often vote Democratic — into large, oddly shaped districts in violation of their constitutional rights.“Elections should be decided through a contest of issues, not skillful ...

Daesh has taken responsibility for an attack in Indonesia that mirrored the attack on Paris http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-35312794 Indonesia has experienced ongoing islamist militant attacks and this most recent one mirrors the attack in Paris. The tactic appears to be to create a running gun battle and use suicide attacks causing maximum disruption. The nation however, unlike France, has not gone into lockdown dispite indonesian militants swearing allegience to Daesh. Unlike France, this attack was anticipated as intelligence had suggested an attack was planned Click for Full Text! Click for Full Text!

“Air raid sirens wail, are you listening…in the lane, tanks are glistening…a frightening sight, we’re paranoid tonight…walking in a police state wonderland!” Wow, hasn’t the government put a lot of thought into this Christmas? I bet the argument this year won’t be over whether or not a Nativity scene can be put up in front of the courthouse, but if it’s appropriate to dress them all in SWAT team uniforms and put a surveillance camera in the manger. I bet they’ll have a B-52 bomber pulled by eight tiny reindeer. Frosty the Snowman is already a “person of interest” because he’s going by an alias. It’ll be hard to ...

Navy Women Were Secretly Filmed Showering for Almost a Year Before Someone Said Something

Male sailors aboard the USS Wyoming secretly recorded their female shipmates showering several times a day for almost a year—sometimes working in teams to prevent detection, says a new Navy Times report out this week. At least 12 male officers were implicated in the ring, which operated for about 10 months before a electronics technician on another ship heard about the recordings and reported them. Of those 12 men, 10 were ultimately prosecuted and assigned punishments ranging from hard prison time to a pay cut. The men were apparently able to film the women through a hole in the wall using cell phones and an iPod Touch—both of which are reportedly banned aboard the submarine. ...

Leaked Documents Prove US Wanted ISIS to Emerge in Syria

The world’s attention is fixed on Paris. France is tonight a police state. There is concern over ISIS infiltrating Syrian refugees. And of course, the big question, how will the world rid itself of the Islamic State? But before you listen to one more politician tell you what we need to do, you need to know what politicians knew about ISIS three years ago and the actions they still took. This is a Reality Check you won’t see anywhere else. It is one of the most viral discussions on the Internet — the U.S. and its allies must stop ISIS. After the Paris attacks that left 129 dead, more than 350 people injured and an entire nation in lock down, there is no doubt ISIS must be ...

FBI Director: San Bernardino Jihadis ‘Radicalized Before They Started Dating’

by Frances Martel9 Dec 201534 Syed Farook and Tashfeen Malik, the couple who killed 14 and injured a number of others in a jihadist siege in San Bernardino last week, had become radical Islamists long before meeting, according to FBI Director James Comey. Addressing the Senate Judiciary Committee, Comey said that there was no evidence that one of them had radicalized the other. “They were actually radicalized before they started … dating each other online, and as early as the end of 2013 they were talking to each other about jihad and martyrdom before they became engaged,” he testified, according to Reuters. Comey added that there was yet no robust evidence that an ...

Mr. Trump’s comments were derided by the “impartial” British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) as well as London’s part-time mayor Boris Johnson, and Prime Minister David Cameron. He said in a speech this week that parts of London are “so radicalised the police are afraid for their ...

by Joel B. Pollak9 Dec 201531 San Bernardino terrorist Syed Farook is suspected to have planned a terror attack in 2012, according to new reports. Though President Barack Obama told the nation on Sunday evening that there was “no evidence” that Farook and his wife, Tashfeek Malik, were part of a “conspiracy,” CNN reports that Farook “conspired in 2012" with someone else to commit a terrorist attack, and that “a specific target was considered.” Ultimately, CNN cites sources as saying, Farook became afraid and did not launch the attack as planned. Breitbart News noted earlier Wednesday that local news sources indicated that Farook had focused on a ...
