Trump and the Republicans, Business as Usual
Post Date: 2017-03-26 13:10:33 by Deckard

So far, Trump and the republicans are following perfect form: House Republicans abandoned their efforts to repeal and partially replace Obamacare after President Donald Trump and Speaker Paul Ryan couldn’t wrangle enough votes…. It strikes me that Obama is more capable than Trump and Pelosi is more capable than Ryan; at least when Obama and Pelosi had a majority in both houses of congress, they could ramrod an unpopular bill through. Why did it fail?  I will answer the question with a question: who in the electorate voted for “replace”?  The voters for Trump wanted “repeal.”  Republicans, when not in power, proposed a repeal bill at least ...

Trump White House Releases “Treason” Evidence Against Hillary. TAKE HER DOWN

CNN and other mainstream media sites endlessly claim Trump worked with Russia to beat Clinton in the election, but the truth is finally coming out. Sean Spicer stated that there is “probably more evidence” that CNN conspired with Hillary Clinton’s campaign than any “evidence” indicating Trump had ties with Russia. (Watch video at link) During the press briefing at the White House on Thursday, Spicer stated that CNN claimed to have U.S. official sources that were looking into President Trump’s alleged communications with Russia and its operatives to promote information against Hillary Clinton. And they can’t deny they said this. CNN claimed that ...

Meet The “Neocons” That Every Libertarian Should Applaud And Embrace
Post Date: 2017-03-26 02:13:10 by Gatlin

Neocon has been the go-to pejorative in libertarian circles for many years, and deservedly so. The Bush Administration ripped up the Constitution, thrust the country in endless wars, and sent the debt through the roof. These policies were then aggressively continued during the Obama regime, but times are finally beginning to change. In the age of Trump, neocon influence is waning. His “America First” talk does not align with their agenda, and tensions are bubbling to the surface. The neocons are clearly working to undermine Trump, and their star within Republican circles is fading fast. They floated Evan McMullin as an Independent Presidential candidate for the sole purpose of ...

On Libertarian Arrogance

Recently, I was privy to an exchange on social media that highlighted the intellectual and moral arrogance observed in many libertarians. Certain members of the Liberty Movement seem to be so sure of their superiority that they miss the authoritarian allure of a Donald Trump or Bernie Sanders. Turning a blind eye (or turning up our noses) at those we disagree with will not help advance the ideas about individual rights, the rule of law, benefits of markets, or any of the other foundations upon which so many of us base our worldviews if not our careers. Rather than dismiss those arguments that we happen to disagree with by claiming some de facto intellectual, empirical, or moral ...

Exclusive — Discussion About GOP Replacement to Paul Ryan as Speaker of the House Intensifies in White House, Congress

Republican officials in Congress and the White House are now openly discussing finding a GOP replacement to Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) as Speaker of the House, after Ryan failed to pass the American Health Care Act out of the House and misled the public and President Donald Trump when he promised repeatedly the bill would pass. Ryan was caught on an audio file from October—obtained by Breitbart News and published a couple weeks ago—saying he is “not going to defend Donald Trump—not now, not in the future.” While the audio file does not make the comments clear, Ryan’s staff later claimed that it was specifically about the Access Hollywood tape scandal from the ...

The health-care fiasco was not inevitable

Today President Trump, House Speaker Paul D. Ryan (R-Wis.), moderate House Republicans and Freedom Caucus Republicans risk their jobs, their credibility and their agenda. How could this have gone differently, without the potential for political self-immolation? Consider some alternative scenarios. In the first, Trump could have stuck to his campaign populist themes. Rather than defer to Ryan and to Health and Human Service Secretary Tom Price (whose plan was essentially what Ryan had in mind all along), he could have put forth a populist- styled plan: Keep the taxes on the rich, put additional money into funding state- based reinsurance plans for high-risk individuals, encourage insurers ...

‘Move fast and break things’: Trump’s healthcare failure and the backlash ahead

Republicans suffered a devastating defeat on Obamacare. But the pulling of the American Health Care Act could be a ‘blessing in disguise’ for Trump. he James S Brady Press Briefing Room at the White House was crammed as usual but there was an extra frisson of suspense. As the press secretary, Sean Spicer, walked to the lectern, a conversation was unfolding just 27 paces away in the Oval Office. It would invalidate almost everything he said. Paul Ryan, the speaker of the House of Representatives, told Donald Trump the news he did not want to hear. Weeks of cajoling and arm-twisting to win over skeptics of their healthcare reform legislation had failed. Ryan asked the president to ...

THE HEALTH-CARE DEBACLE WAS A FAILURE OF CONSERVATISM

Let the recriminations begin! Actually, the health-care-failure finger-pointing got under way well before Friday, when Donald Trump and Paul Ryan cancelled a House vote on the American Health Care Act. A day earlier, aides to the President let it be known that he had come to regret going along with Ryan’s idea of making health care his first legislative priority. In the coming days and weeks, there will be more of this blame shifting, and, in truth, there is plenty of blame to go around. Ryan failed to unify the House Republican caucus. Trump’s staff allowed him to endorse a bill that made a mockery of his campaign pledge to provide health insurance for everybody. And Trump ...

Trump tastes failure as U.S. House healthcare bill collapses

President Donald Trump suffered a stunning political setback on Friday in a Congress controlled by his own party when Republican leaders pulled legislation to overhaul the U.S. healthcare system, a major 2016 election campaign promise of the president and his allies. House of Representatives leaders yanked the bill after a rebellion by Republican moderates and the party's most conservative lawmakers left them short of votes, ensuring that Trump's first major legislative initiative since taking office on Jan. 20 ended in failure. Democrats were unified against it. House Republicans had planned a vote on the measure after Trump late on Thursday cut off negotiations with Republicans ...

The Republicans Fold on Health Care

The House abandoned its legislation to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act, handing President Trump and Speaker Paul Ryan a major defeat. To a man and woman, nearly every one of the 237 Republicans elected to the House last November made the same promise to voters: Give us control of Congress and the White House, and we will repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act. On Friday, those lawmakers abandoned that effort, conceding that the Republican Party’s core campaign pledge of the last seven years will go unfulfilled. “I will not sugarcoat this: This is a disappointing day for us,” House Speaker Paul Ryan said at a press conference after he informed Republicans that ...

Republicans Land a Punch on Health Care, to Their Own Face

WASHINGTON — At the end of the long day, the alliance of conservative ideologues who once shut down the government over President Barack Obama’s health care law could not find the will to repeal it. Since the Tea Party wave of 2010 that swept House Republicans into power, a raucous, intransigent and loosely aligned group of lawmakers known as the Freedom Caucus — most from heavily Republican districts — has often landed a punch to its own party’s face. NEW YORK (AP) -- Some Americans breathed a sigh of relief, others bubbled with frustration, and nearly all resigned themselves to the prospect that the latest chapter in the never-ending national debate over health care would not be the last. The withdrawal of the Republican-sponsored health bill in the face of likely defeat Friday in the U.S. House seemed to ensure that the deep divisions over the Affordable Care Act and its possible replacement will continue to simmer. As news spread, Americans fell into familiar camps, either happy to see a Democratic effort live another day, or eager to see Republicans regroup and follow through with their "repeal Obamacare" promises. ...

Fox's Stuart Varney: 'The Republican Party is a disgrace'

Fox Business Network host Stuart Varney scolded the GOP on Friday for struggling to repeal and replace ObamaCare despite controlling the House, Senate and White House. “I personally believe at this moment in time the Republican Party is a disgrace,” Varney declared during an interview with Juan Williams, a Fox News and The Hill contributor. "I’m serious. I am serious.” “We elected the Republicans who run the House, the Senate, and the White House and the very, very first thing that comes up on the legislative agenda they vote no, they’re split. They can’t do it. They can’t govern. I am really fit to be tied." Varney also took aim at ...

How disastrous for Trump is healthcare collapse?

How bad was Friday's defeat of the American Health Care Act in the House of Representatives? Bad. Very bad. After a tumultuous week, it's worth stepping back for a bit of perspective. For the first time in 11 years, Republicans control the presidency and both chambers of the Congress. There are 44 more Republicans than Democrats in the House of Representatives. Republicans have been vociferously calling for repeal of President Barack Obama's healthcare reforms for seven years. The American Health Care Act was the first major piece of legislation pushed by the White House and the Republican-controlled Congress, a key political test early in the president's term, when he ...

DONALD TRUMP, PAUL RYAN AND THE REPUBLICANS LOST ON OBAMACARE. WHAT NOW?

When it came to bringing Republicans together to repeal and replace Obamacare, President Donald Trump’s sweet talk, threats, horse trading and ultimatums were not enough. “At some point, you can only do so much,” a resigned White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer said on Friday. Despite last-minute changes, and an overnight delay, there were still too many Republican opposed to the White House-backed plan to unravel the 2010 health law known as Obamacare on Friday. Party leaders tried to appeal to conservatives by repealing requirements that health insurance plans cover “essential benefits” like maternity care and hospitalization, but opponents from the right-wing ...

Rand Paul used tips from ‘the Art of the Deal’ to defeat Trump’s replacement bill

Senator Rand Paul (R-Ky.) said he was still optimistic for the repeal of Obamacare after being one of the foremost critics that helped defeat the GOP replacement bill Friday. He also talked about how he encouraged the Freedom Caucus to defeat the bill by using tips from President Trump’s book, “The Art of the Deal.” He made the comments to Eric Bolling on Fox News. “I want to show our audience a little piece of tape from earlier in the week,” Bolling said, “where you actually went to the House Freedom Caucus side, and I guess you were teaching them the ‘Art of the Deal.'” “I brought you all a gift tonight,” Paul said to the Freedom ...

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) has replaced Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) as the prime conservative agitator in Congress. Paul is waging a public relations war against the House Republican healthcare reform legislation in the hope that he can bring Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), the measure’s champion, to the negotiating table. The Kentucky senator is betting that if he can convince a relatively small group of House conservatives to vote against the legislation, it will force House GOP leaders to back away from what he calls “ObamaCare lite.” “There’s really no negotiating going on. Ryan is giving up nothing until he determines he doesn’t have enough votes. If we get ...

Freedom Caucus Can Just Walk Away

Members of the House Freedom Caucus have shown they want the moon, or nothing, when considering reform of health-care policy. They aren’t going to get the moon, so what they should do is nothing. If they won’t vote “yes,” they also should not vote “no” and not vote “present” either. Just put out a press release making all their usual assertions that everybody else is a weak-kneed coward unwilling to stand on principle, and then, in a great show of moral purity, walk out of the House chamber in protest just as the vote is being called. That way, they will be able to signal their disgust without actually killing the only extant vehicle to replace ...

In the immediate aftermath of Republicans' decision to pull their healthcare legislation from a scheduled floor vote in the House of Representatives on Friday afternoon, congressional Democrats immediately, and falsely, claimed credit for the bill's failure. Within minutes of each other, many Democratic members posted tweets to thank people for pushing back against the bill, inaccurately implying that Republicans pulled the legislation because ideological opponents called to oppose it. Rep. Mike Thompson, D-Calif., wrote, "Your calls, emails, & letters worked. Speaking out at town halls worked. The GOP pulled their bad bill b/c you spoke out. We can't stop now!" ...

Collapse of Obamacare repeal plan puts Freedom Caucus in complicated spot

WASHINGTON — The House Freedom Caucus scored a victory with conservatives Friday when House Speaker Paul Ryan and President Trump decided to abandon legislation to repeal and replace Obamacare. But the group now also must face a party and a president frustrated that their demands for a more conservative approach forced the legislation to a standstill that leaves the Affordable Care Act in place. On Friday afternoon, House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., announced that the legislation had been pulled from consideration because there were not enough votes for it to pass. While the bill faced critics from all factions of the party, no group played more of a role in sinking the legislation ...

Freedom Caucus leader Mark Meadows: I promised full Obamacare repeal

The leader of the conservative House Freedom Caucus defended his decision to oppose Republican legislation to repeal Obamacare that was pulled by House leadership Friday because of insufficient support. Rep. Mark Meadows, R-N.C., said he was willing to work with President Trump again to fully repeal Obamacare, even though Trump and House GOP leaders said they are moving on. Meadows said in a statement that he promised his constituents he would "fight for a full repeal of the Affordable Care Act and a replacement with a market-driven approach that brings down costs and provides more choices for the American people." The Freedom Caucus has complained that the American Health Care ...

BREAKING : Whistleblower BLOWING THE LID OFF Obama’s Corrupt Intelligence Network

Perfect timing. Cue the whistleblowers. According to a Newsmax.com report, a former intelligence agent turned whistleblower has information on mass surveillance of private citizens occurring during the Obama administration. This former agent also has information that disputes claims by James Comey, Senators and Congressman regarding evidence on Trump’s wiretap claim, which we now know is 100% real. Newsmax is reporting that THIS whistleblower is the reason Nunes was forced to hold a press conference. From Newsmax.com The old expression about Washington, D.C., is that if you want a friend, get a dog! In the case of President Donald Trump, this is a lesson he has undoubtedly ...

According to Bob Woodward, Obama administration officials could be facing charges for surveillance of Trump’s transition team. Hopefully all the wrongdoings and executive over-reach by Obama will be investigated, exposed, and rightfully punished. From the Washington Examiner House Intelligence Committee Chairman Rep. Devin Nunes, R-Calif., said earlier that he had briefed Trump on new information, unrelated to an investigation into Russian activities, that suggested that several members of Trump’s transition team and perhaps Trump himself had their identities “unmasked” after their communications were intercepted by U.S. intelligence officials. The revelation is ...
