We Send Them to Die But They Cant Defend Themselves? Try to enter a military base here in the US. Any American citizen who is wandering aimlessly in a military base and cant explain why he is there, would be in trouble. If he says he is a repairman, he will be expected at least to have some tools; if he is a contractor, he will have to have some papers, or at least a person in a uniform to accompany him. Otherwise his presence there would be suspicious and may lead to actions against him. If he tries to attack the soldier who is questioning him, hell be in even greater trouble, and may be even shot. The soldier who does that will be considered to have done his duty, and ...

The Senate last night codified into law the power of the U.S. military to indefinitely detain an American citizen with no charge, no trial and no oversight whatsoever with the passage of S. 1867, the National Defense Authorization Act. One amendment that would have specifically blocked the measures from being used against U.S. citizens was voted down and the final bill was passed 93-7. Another amendment introduced by Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Dianne Feinstein that attempted to bar the provision from being used on American soil, an effort to ensure the military wont be roaming our streets looking for suspected terrorists, also failed, although Feinstein voted ...

Patrick Cockburn: This was always a civil war, and the victors are not merciful The purge of Gaddafi supporters is made more dangerous by infighting between the militias The detention of 7,000 people in prisons and camps by the anti-Gaddafi forces is not surprising. The conflict in Libya was always much more of a civil war between Libyans than foreign governments pretended or the foreign media reported. The winning anti-Gaddafi militia are not proving merciful. Often they have had relatives killed in the fighting or imprisoned by the old regime who they want to avenge. Sometimes they come from tribes and towns traditionally hostile to neighbouring tribes and towns. Gaddafi supporters are ...

Obama dispatching troops to Australia Facing the rising influence of China, unprecedented economic turmoil in Europe and defense cuts at home, President Obama announced Wednesday that he is ramping up a U.S. military presence in the Asia-Pacific region. Obama said he would send 250 Marines to northern Australia next year, the first wave of what is expected to be a force of 2,500 U.S. troops stationed there. Democrats, led by the progressive TPM online magazine, are calling for Ron Paul to apologize for living in a reality-based world. TPM is tiffed because Paul described Obama as an elected dictator (see video below). TPMs Josh Petri expects Ron Paul to follow in the footsteps of Rep. Denny Rehberg. The Montana Republican was lambasted for showing off a cartoon depicting Obama as the murdered former leader of Libya, Muammar Gaddafi. Rehberg was quick to offer an apology. Paul, however, is not expected to apologize for anything, writes Petri. Ron Paul has not compared Obama to Gaddafi. He simply pointed out the fact Obama has violated the Constitution by issuing ...

The attack, in the Darulaman area, west of Kabul, also killed three Afghan civilians and a police officer. The Taliban has admitted carrying out the attack - one of the worst ground attacks against foreign troops since the beginning of the war. Such attacks are rare in heavily-guarded Kabul. Separately, three Australian soldiers were killed by a man in Afghan army uniform. Nato said the gunman was also killed in that attack in the south of the country. Fewer attacks have hit Kabul this year, compared ...

Who Will Intervene Now? Lynching Black Africans in Libya [Liberal Hypocrisy] Post Date: 2011-10-25 19:12:06 by Capitalist Eric

Bodies of black men hanging from highways. Bound and tortured bodies of Africans dumped along the roadsides. Am I talking about Libya or Louisiana? And all under the approving eye of the first Black President of the USA. The lynching of Africans in Libya has been so bad that African leaders across the continent have been forced to raise their voices in protest. When the President of Nigeria, the USAs unofficial enforcer in West Africa leads an African wide outcry against the lynching of his citizens in Libya one would assume that it was heard in the Obama White House. With the murder or expulsion of most of Libyas African migrant population well on its way came the massacre ...

UN Calls for Probe into Gaddafi's Death: Special Rapporteur warns the manner of the deposed Libyan leader's killing could be a war crime The UN has called for an international investigation into the death of Muammar Gaddafi, the deposed Libyan leader, saying it could well have been a war crime. Christof Heyns, the UN Special Rapporteur on extrajudicial, summary or arbitrary executions, told Al Jazeera on Friday that a proper investigation into the exact events surrounding Gaddafis death was a key test for Libyas future as a democratic and accountable state. The Geneva conventions are very clear that when prisoners are taken they may not be executed willfully and ...

President Obama shook hands with Libyan leader Muammar al-Qaddafi Thursday, a sign that relations have improved considerably between the U.S. and the North African nation. The two met as they posed for pictures ahead of a G-8 summit dinner hosted by Italian President Giorgio Napolitano. Obama's diplomatic gesture was his latest effort to reach out to controversial world leaders in an attempt to improve the United States' standing around the world, which he says was damaged by former President Bush's unilateral diplomacy. [snip] Obama also shook hands with Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez in April at the Summit of Americas, where Chavez gave Obama a book critical of U.S. ...

The front page of The Washington Post carried a story Tuesday on black liberals demanding all blacks stand with President Obama -- just because he's black. Krissah Thompson's story carried some noteworthy "get in line" quotes from the forget-the-black-unemployment-numbers crowd, but the closest thing to a moderate or conservative in the article is a man suggesting Obama is not God. On the front page, Thompson quoted from radio host Tom Joyner on his BlackAmericaWeb.com blog. Lets not even deal with the facts right now. Lets deal with just our blackness and pride and loyalty. We have the chance to re-elect the first African-American president, and ...

This seems nonsensical to me. With Solyndra and the Fast and Furious scandals unraveling more each day, it makes no sense for the Republican candidates for president to remain quiet on these issues. What the heck are they waiting for? Eric Holder has finally been implicated in the gun running operation that resulted in the death of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry and guns falling into the hands of drug cartels. The Solyndra scandal is blowing up in the face of the president and his political team, who pushed through the loans to the now bankrupt solar panel company. And yet, there is relative silence from the candidates who are trying to replace him. The Daily Caller has been asking the ...
