November 27, 1868 Goat One of the more amusing images to emerge from this terrible chapter in American history is the notion of Custer, cinnamon-oiled hair, trademark red scarf and that broad brimmed sombrero, riding away with Wilmer McCleans table, strapped to the backside of his horse. Like Edgar Allen Poe and James Whistler (Whistlers Mother) before him, George Armstrong Custer was a Goat. No, that doesnt mean Greatest of all Time. This Goat was dead last in his class, West Point, class of 1861. Like many of his fellow goats, Custers contributions to history were vastly out of proportion to a less than brilliant ...
To understand 2021, watch a KGB defector’s mid-1980s interview Post Date: 2021-04-02 08:00:37 by A K A Stone

On Thursday, Dan Bongino urged his audience to watch or just listen to a video of Yuri Bezmenov, a KGB defector to Canada, who came to love America and tried to warn Americans about the KGBs plans. Listen to him is eerie because he spelled out in detail exactly what the Soviet Union was doing it wasnt planning to take America done through the military. Instead, it intended to destroy America from within by infiltrating the education system, three generations of young people to hate this country and each other and then watching them go forth and plan the seeds of self-loathing throughout the nation. When it came to understanding how the Soviet Union operated, Bezmenov was ...

FLASHBACK: Johnny Carson Rips Joe Biden for ‘Plagiarism’ 33 YEARS AGO on the ‘Tonight Show’ Post Date: 2020-09-18 18:58:22 by Deckard

Unearthed footage went viral on social media this week showing legendary comedian Johnny Carson poking fun at Joe Bidens multiple accusations of plagiarism back in 1987; blasting his speech that was too familiar from one delivered by a British politician. On the political scene, one of the Democratic candidates, a Senator Joseph Biden have you seen the problem hes been having? Carson asked his audience at the start of the Tonight Show one evening. And then the press got on him. And then he was charged also with taking part of Bobby Kennedys speeches. And Biden says, not to worry. He reassured his staff, he said, ...

(Island promo single) Ⓟ 1969, England "Change of Address from June 23rd 1969" / "Sales Office" [same untitled track both sides] Blind Faith were an English supergroup featuring Steve Winwood, Eric Clapton, Ginger Baker, and Ric Grech, active in mostly 1969. They were eagerly anticipated by the music press as a continuation of Clapton and Baker's former group Cream and Winwood's former group Traffic, but they split after one album and tour. A promotional single was released by Island, although the promotion was for Island itself. It was a single announcing the fact that they were moving their offices, titled "Change Of Address From 23 June ...
Peter Green - (Fleetwood Mac) 1946-2020 Post Date: 2020-07-26 06:47:16 by Deckard

The death has been announced of Peter Green, founder of Fleetwood Mac. Green was born at Bethnal Green, East London, just down the road from Stepney where another legendary guitarist, Andy Powell of Wishbone Ash, was born. Andy was also a great fan, and paid tribute to him: He first came to my attention in John Mayalls Bluesbreakers, as a replacement for the departing Eric Clapton. His instrumental tune The Supernatural caught my ear as a masterful use of feedback and emotion. I was later fortunate to catch the debut of Peter Greens Fleetwood Mac at the Windsor jazz and Blues Festival in 1967
I got in the front row there, and was so overcome by the bands ...

Masked, Homeless, and Desolate Post Date: 2020-07-24 06:48:07 by Deckard

Walk the streets in the United States and many countries these days and you will see streaming crowds of people possessed by demons, masked and anonymous, whose eyes look like vacuums, staring into space or out of empty sockets like the dead, afraid of their own ghosts. Fear and obedience oozes from them. Death walks the streets with people on leashes in lockstep. That they have been the victims of a long-planned propaganda campaign to use an invisible virus to frighten them into submission and shut down the worlds economy for the global elites is beyond their ken. This is so even when the facts are there to prove otherwise. It is a clear case, as Peter Koenig tells Michel ...

The movie: Rollerball (the 1975 original, not the 2002 remake) The future: Corporate nations and their supercomputers rule humanity, shaping digitized historical records to their liking. The masses are pacified by watching rollerball, a professional sport thats like football played on a roller derby loop with motorcycles. Rollerball players have a glamorous existence: fans idolize them, executives envy them, and theyre provided lavish homes, beautiful wives or girlfriends, and fancy TVs with extra screens that show smaller, differently angled shots of whatever theyre watching. In return for all this, they let corporations control their lives.Jonathan E. (played by James ...

As the rumour goes, in late '70s when Pat signed to Chrysalis Records and released her debut album "In the Heat of the Night", she re-claimed and destroyed most of the remaining copies of that single. Convair B-36 Peacemaker: Strategic Air Command (1955) Post Date: 2020-06-15 08:02:36 by Deckard

Just watched this chestnut on Amazon Prime, a really good look at the early days of SAC. Robert "Dutch" Holland (James Stewart) is a successful third baseman for the St. Louis Cardinals batting .335 and making 70 k per year. June Allyson plays his wife, Sally. He was recalled into the newly-formed Strategic Air Command stationed at Carswell Air Force Base. Holland flies missions in the massive B-36 "Peacemaker" bomber. Wasn't familiar with this aircraft until I watched the film. Really cool plane - 10 engines - 4 jet and 6 prop. Apparently the jets were used mostly for take-off.The B-36 had a crew of 15, the pressurized flight deck and crew compartment were linked ...
Fifty Years Later, NSA Keeps Details of Israel’s USS Liberty Attack Secret Post Date: 2020-06-09 04:35:49 by Deckard

ON JUNE 8, 1967, an Israeli torpedo tore through the side of the unarmed American naval vessel USS Liberty, approximately a dozen miles off the Sinai coast. The ship, whose crew was under command of the National Security Agency, was intercepting communications at the height of the Six-Day War when it came under direct Israeli aerial and naval assault. Reverberations from the torpedo blast sent crewman Ernie Gallo flying across the radio research room where he was stationed. Gallo, a communications technician aboard the Liberty, found himself and his fellow shipmates in the midst of an attack that would leave 34 Americans dead and 171 wounded. This week marks the 50th ...

News coverage of the recent riots in Washington, D.C. revealed the utter inability of the police to protect shop owners, residents, and even the church across the street from the White House from vandalism, looting, and arson. National Guard and even active-duty military troops were brought in to protect the White House itself. The Secret Service is said to have brought the Trump family into the underground bunker beneath the executive mansion at one point. Some of the governments monuments to itself, which seem to be on every street corner and in every intersection in Washington, D.C., were vandalized and spray painted with graffiti. Yet it was still surprising to ...

Even though I'm fairly ancient, I've never seen a Model T outside of a classic auto show. So I realize that there are many things that have been obsolete since the elastic waistband was invented and would confound anyone under age 70. But what about some common items that have come and gone within the last 30 or so years? See how many of these you recognize, and how many of them would puzzle your kids or grandkids. 1. 45 RPM RECORD ADAPTER oldschoolgoodtimes, Flickr // CC BY-NC-ND 2.0 Seven-inch singles produced in the US had a large half-dollar size hole in the center, unlike the tiny hole punched in LPs that fit conveniently onto a turntable spindle.
