GOP Congressional Candidate Tim Walberg: We Could Impeach Obama Over Birth Certificate
Post Date: 2010-10-16 19:20:57 by Brian S

Former U.S. Rep. Tim Walberg (R-Mich.) is taking birtherism to a new extreme. Walberg, who's running for his old seat, said at a town hall event this week that President Obama could be impeached for not showing his birth certificate to a group of people including Rush Limbaugh. Walberg: "Well, I'm going to take him at his word that he's an American citizen. I don't know why it's not resolved, other than the fact that the President hasn't resolved it yet... I mean, if I had to do it, I'd just simply -- of course, I had to show my birth certificate in order to be on the ballot. But if I were gonna do it, I'd call Rush Limbaugh, Alan Colmes, Nancy ...

The Odd Lies Of Sarah Palin XCVII: The Motor Home Drive From Alaska To Los Angeles

16 Oct 2010 11:28 am She mentions it again - that motor home she got in and drove all the way down from Alaska to Los Angeles to see Bristol perform on Dancing With The Stars. Except now, it's Todd who did it - not her. Check out the video here. Money quote: He drove our motor home all the way back from Alaska ... he came down he could see Bristol on "Dancing With The Stars." ... That's what Todd did, he did load up the motor home. Here's the first version: "I tell Bristol, I am texting her and say 'Bristol'...and I wasn't kidding, I thought that this was a practical thing to do ... 'How about if Todd and I we load up all the kids in our ...

Ex-General Dishes on McCain, Clinton, Gore, Rummy

The Quiet General Strikes Backby Lloyd Grove October 15, 2010 | 1:00am Hugh Shelton was impeccably apolitical while serving as the nation’s top military man under Presidents Clinton and Bush. Now, not so much. He talks to Lloyd Grove about Bill Clinton (good), Donald Rumsfeld (bad), and John McCain (crazy), among others. Among the highlights: • Rumsfeld, according to Shelton, is a power-mad know-it-all who won’t listen to military advice. • McCain is a ranting bully with “a screw loose.” • Gore is a supercilious grandstander who once interrupted an Oval Office meeting to berate Shelton for a military mishap, only to be swatted away by Clinton. ...

O'Donnell Dodges Evangelical Issues In Senate Race
Post Date: 2010-10-14 17:15:00 by Brian S

NEWARK, Del. (AP) -- Suddenly, Christine O'Donnell doesn't want to talk about values and religion. The Republican Senate nominee from Delaware, who said four years ago that she heard the "audible voice of God" encouraging her to run for office, is shying away from the evangelical views that built her career as a television pundit and conservative activist. Trailing badly in the polls, O'Donnell has bobbed and weaved recently on her previously bold and provocative positions that are sure to alienate the all-important centrist voting bloc in politically moderate Delaware. "What I believe is irrelevant," she said under the bright lights of a nationally ...

O'Donnell's Do or Die Debate

Witch! Marxist! The taunts flew in Christine O'Donnell's debate with Chris Coons in the Delaware Senate race. Will her down-to-earth showing get her back in the game? Samuel P. Jacobs reports. Plus, watch video of the best moments. Would Christine O'Donnell be able to add "skilled debater" to the disparate points on her resume such as wiccan and mamma grizzly? That was the question going into Wednesday night's Delaware debate, during which the conservative activist took another turn in the national spotlight, trying to close the cavernous gap between her and her Democratic opponent Chris Coons. O'Donnell set out from tried-and-tested grounds, tarring Coons as ...

D'oh! Carl Paladino Has Now Lost The Endorsement Of Rabbi Yehuda Levin
Post Date: 2010-10-13 20:01:21 by Brian S

Wow. You can't win these days trying to have it both ways on whether to hate or accept gay Americans. The GOP's Carl Paladino has now lost the endorsement of Rabbi Yehuda Levin, the showboating right-wing rabbi who apparently wrote or arranged the writing of the speech that Paladino gave bashing gays -- the one that caused the whole brouhaha in the first place. Levin withdrew his endorsement after Paladino subsequently apologized for his anti-gay remarks. Frankly, I'm surprised he apologized. Not that he shouldn't; needless to say, I completely disagree with his views on this issue. But most politicians who come out with some charged anti-gay remarks have thought through ...

Rand Paul's College Group Mocked Christians

Rand Paul's Kentucky Senate campaign drew a round of startled media attention this summer, after GQ reported that he'd played hair-raising pranks as an undergraduate at Baylor University in the early 1980s. Issues of the newsletter published by Paul's secret society, the NoZe Brotherhood, during his time at Baylor reveal a more specific political problem for the Kentucky Republican: The group's work often had a specifically anti-Christian tone, as it made fun of the Baptist college's faith-based orientation. Paul, the son of Texas Rep. Ron Paul, beat back charges in the Republican primary that his libertarian views put him outside the GOP mainstream. A practicing ...

Tea Party Nightmare: The Defense Budget
Post Date: 2010-10-13 12:32:20 by Brian S

For the last two weeks, the advocates of higher defense spending have shown their nervousness that the times may be changing - that the defense budget may go south after the elections. Organizations like the American Enterprise Institute (AEI), The Heritage Foundation and William Kristol's various interlocked organizations have written about the dire consequences of less defense spending. Slaves to the thinking they preach to others, that more money means more defense, they ignore what has been happening in the Pentagon's budget: as we spend more, we become weaker. This is not just a qualitative judgment based on the handiwork of the neoconservatives in international ...

Sarah Palin says if Iran gets a nuclear weapon, it could lead to Armageddon or World War III

Sarah Palin doesn't see Iran having a nuclear weapon as a mere national security problem, she believes it could lead to an ultimate world battle between good and evil. The Mama Grizzly delivered some of her foreign policy leanings in an interview with the conservative website Newsmax.com, which will further fuel speculation she is running for President in 2012. "We have to realize that, at the end of the day, a nuclear weapon in that country's hands is not just Israel's problem or America's problem — it is the world's problem," Palin said of Iran. "It could lead to an Armageddon," Palin said, referencing an epic, end-of-days Biblical battle. ...

Amid Tight Nevada Senate Race, Republican Sharron Angle Says She Didn't Say What She Said
Post Date: 2010-10-12 13:45:39 by Brian S

LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Republican U.S. Senate candidate Sharron Angle is distancing herself from an unusual foe - her own words. In recent weeks, Angle repeatedly has claimed that she never vowed to end Social Security or federal benefits for veterans. Democrats have widely circulated recordings of her making those very points in early campaign stops. The shift illuminates Angle's ongoing evolution from a hard-right state legislator to a slightly mellower national candidate amid attacks from Democrats and the occasional Republican leader. Her critics have admonished her for, among other things, deeming a BP fund of oil spill victims a "slush fund;" suggesting tea party ...

Former Bush UN Ambassador(Bolton): Democracy Is 'Not Always The Answer’

In a little noticed remark on Fox News last week, President George W. Bush's former ambassador to the UN remarked that the US should have kept Pakistan's dictator in power and derided those who "think democracy is always the answer." John Bolton, whose nomination was so controversial Bush tapped him during a Senate recess and then declined to resubmit him after his recess appointment expired, made the comments on Fox News Thursday. The discussion was highlighted Saturday by ThinkProgress, a liberal blog. "[D]emocracy and civilian governments in Pakistan have been so discredited because of incompetence and corruption," Bolton said. "I thought the Musharraf ...

Obama Approval Doing Better Than Reagan, Clinton, According To Poll Data

Despite negative economic forecasts and all the rue predicted for Democrats in November, President Obama's approval rating is actually faring better than Presidents Reagan and Clinton at this point in their terms, according to an analysis of data provided by the Gallup polling organization. In a survey of approximately 1,500 adults nation-wide, Gallup said on Oct. 6 that Obama's approval rating was 48 percent. By comparison, Bill Clinton, the previous Democrat to reside in the White House, had a 42 percent approval rating at the same time in his presidency. Republican icon Ronald Reagan, similarly, had an approval rating hovering around 42 percent at this time in his presidency, ...

WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) -- Senate hopeful Christine O'Donnell has a simple message in her campaign ads - "I'm you." With three weeks to the election, many Delaware voters have their doubts. While O'Donnell's quirky past has made her famous, she remains something of an enigma at home - a talented public speaker and occasional television pundit with a thin resume and a long list of unanswered questions. Her ability to overcome the doubts could determine whether Republicans can take back the Senate on Election Day. "I just don't know anything about her," said Sallie Wilson, a 71-year-old Wilmington retiree and registered Republican who wants to vote ...

RENO, Nev. (AP) — Veteran state Sen. Bill Raggio, one of Nevada's most influential Republicans over the last four decades, says he's reluctantly endorsing Democratic U.S. Sen. Harry Reid's re-election campaign. Raggio issued a statement Thursday sharply criticizing GOP candidate Sharron Angle, branding her as a "totally ineffective" four-term state lawmaker. Raggio also cited what he called Angle's inability and unwillingness to work with others even within her own party, and her extreme positions on Social Security and other issues. Raggio also criticized Angle for badmouthing GOP leaders in a recent secretly taped conversation. The Angle campaign did not ...

Joe Miller Received Medicaid Benefits He Thinks Are Unconstitutional

Alaska GOP Senate candidate Joe Miller has repeatedly claimed that federal health care benefits violate the Constitution. It turns out, however, that “Mr. Noun, Verb, and Unconstitutional” doesn’t actually think that the Constitution applies to himself. Yesterday, Miller acknowledged that the received the very same kind of federally funded health care benefits that he believes to be unconstitutional: U.S. Senate candidate Joe Miller acknowledged Thursday that in the past his family received assistance from federal Medicaid and Denali KidCare, the state low income health care program. His opponents in the race responded that he’s a hypocrite for taking assistance ...

Archdiocese of Miami sued in sex abuse claims

A Fort Lauderdale man is suing the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Miami, saying that a late priest sexually abused him in the '60s. A 55-year-old man who says he was sexually abused as a child by a Roman Catholic priest who died 11 years ago is suing the Archdiocese of Miami. In a complaint filed Tuesday in Miami-Dade Circuit Court, Willard Trent says the Rev. Thomas Dennehy, who died in 1999, sexually abused him several times in 1967 and 1968 while he was an altar boy at St. John the Baptist parish in Fort Lauderdale. The lawsuit says Dennehy, who was principal at Cardinal Gibbons High School, where the parish met while its building was under construction, abused Trent with ...

Obama's a Lock in 2012

Sure, things look grim for the Dems this fall. But the base will rally, the economy will turn up, and the GOP will shoot itself in the foot—ensuring the president a second term. Arnold Schwarzenegger made headlines this week by declaring that “Obama will get a second term in office,” especially if Republicans win the House. You’ve got to hand it to the grand Teuton. Even when he says something blindingly obvious, he makes news. Of course Barack Obama is likely to be reelected. For starters, American presidents usually get reelected. In the last 75 years, incumbents have lost a grand total of three times: in 1976, 1980, and 1992. And what did Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter, ...

A Florida Double Crist? Kendrick Meek might drop out of the Florida senate race...

Kendrick Meek might drop out of the Florida senate race and thereby pave the path to victory for Charlie Crist. By STEPHEN MOORE TAMPA -- Republican leaders in the Sunshine State are fretting that a deal may be in the works to get Democratic nominee Kendrick Meek out of the Florida Senate race in order to boost Charlie Crist's flagging chances of beating Republican Marco Rubio. Across the state, groups such as Palm Beach Democrats for Crist and Tampa Democrats for Crist are emerging. Republican fears are further stoked by the almost universal acknowledgment that Mr. Meek has almost no chance to win. Statewide polling has his support in the teens and falling. His money coffers are ...

Rand Paul Says He Is Serious About Adding A Medicare Deductible
Post Date: 2010-10-07 13:08:49 by Brian S

Yesterday in an interview with Neil Cavuto from Fox News Rand Paul was asked about his previous statements regarding a Medicare deductible. In years past Paul had said he supported a $2,000 Medicare deductible to reduce the costs of the program. Under Paul's proposal, every year an individual would have to pay $2,000 out of their own pocket before receiving an health care coverage from the government under Medicare. For many senior citizens on fixed incomes this cost would be burdensome if not prohibitive to them getting health care. Since winning the Republican nomination Paul has generally shied away from talking about his Medicare viewpoints, but he was confronted with some pointed ...

Sarah Palin's Support Rejected In California

Sarah Palin continues to endorse candidates, but, it seems, there is one state where the candidates endorsement is not welcome: California. The former Alaska governor is headed theto state as part of an effort to raise money for Republican candidates. But, the party’s two biggest candidates, Carly Fiorina and Meg Whitman, say they will not attend her rally. The move, which follows the release of a field poll showing nearly 80 percent of California Democrats disapprove of Ms. Palin, is likely a political calculation by each campaign. The same poll showed that more than two thirds of independents also disapprove of Ms. Palin. That said, the campaigns are not dismissing Ms. Palin ...

Meet a tea partier who isn’t afraid to take a few shots at his fellow conservatives. Andrew Ian Dodge is the state coordinator for the Tea Party Patriots in Maine, and he is not happy with some tea party megastars, like Christine O’Donnell, Glenn Beck and Ron Paul. As with any movement this large, there is a struggle to define exactly what a tea partier is, and Dodge wants Christian conservatives marginalized. “That ilk wants government to regulate marriage and abortion… the tea party movement wants government to get off our backs,” said Dodge. “Government is big enough already, thank you very much.” Dodge points out that a prominent Tea Party Patriot is ...

Plus we have taxes coming due and we still need to replace a dead server, so we're going to have to temporarily set our goal a little higher for the next two quarters. And the real good news is, it's election season!! In about 30 days we get to give our elected representatives their due! Woo hoo!! Send them PACKING!! During the ObamaCare debate, we promised Pelosi/Reid, et al, that if they crammed it ...
