Obama Voters, Muslims Need Not Apply For Texas Gun Course
Post Date: 2011-10-28 19:09:39 by Brian S

SAN ANTONIO (Reuters) - A central Texas gun dealer ran radio ads advising "Socialist" liberals, those who voted for President Barack Obama, Arabs and Muslims that they need not apply for his concealed gun license class. Crockett Keller, who owns Keller's Riverside Store, ran the ads on the radio station in his rural hometown of Mason, Texas, which is 120 miles west of the state capital of Austin. "If you are a Socialist liberal and/or voted for the current campaigner in chief, please do not take this class," Keller said in the ad. "You have already proven that you cannot make a knowledgeable and prudent decision as required under the law." "Also, if ...

Poll: 2/3 of Americans Want Wealth Shared More Equally, 70% think GOP Policies Favor the Rich

There's a lot of interesting data in the latest New York Times/CBS News poll, most of which I consider positive news for the president and the Democrats. The president has a 46% approval rating. Congress has a 9% approval rating. Congress's approval rating has fallen 22% since the Tan Man took over the House of Representatives. The president's approval numbers appear to be relatively stable, but his 46%/46% approve/disapprove rating has slipped from 49%/39% since the January New York Times/CBS News poll.Two-thirds of Americans feel wealth should be shared more equally, and 70% think Republican policies favor the rich.Congressional Republicans are viewed even worse than the ...

In 2006 GOP presidential candidate failed to pay his taxes, according to Daniel Stone of the Daily Beast. And what was Herman Cain doing in 2006? AlterNet found him stumping in Wisconsin for Americans For Prosperity, pushing a "Taxpayer Protection Act." From Stone's report:According to court documents obtained by The Beast, Cain and his wife, Gloria, were served in February 2008 with a tax lien totaling $8,558.46 for unpaid income taxes and penalty due for the 2006 calendar year.Gordon said Cain had filed with the IRS and won a six-month reprieve in paying his 2006 federal taxes as he was undergoing his treatment for stage four lymphoma and believed that filing should also ...

Conservative Blogger Gives Out Free Bongs To Embarrass Protesters

James O’Keefe would be proud. A conservative blogger has been accused of trying to give out marijuana bongs and Che Guevara rolling papers in Zuccotti Park in order to make Occupy Wall Street protesters look criminal. New York City resident Joey Boots captured video of Evan Coyne Maloney being confronted by protesters after he allegedly tried to pass out the paraphernalia. At one point, Maloney is seen trying to hand a protester a pack of rolling papers with the image of Che Guevara. Florida Tea Party Convention Agenda Adds Rubio, Pamela Geller, Agenda 21 Talk

Next week’s Florida Tea Party convention is slated to feature some big names in Florida politics, as well as the opportunity for state tea party members to discuss some of their favorite topics — including Agenda 21 and Islam. According to the current convention agenda, speakers will include Gov. Rick Scott, former Christian Coalition director Ralph Reed, anti-Islam blogger Pam Geller and Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla. Attorney General Pat Bondi was mulling over an appearance, but her name does not appear on the updated convention agenda. In September, Scott’s office told the Independent his appearance had not been confirmed. The convention will also feature G. Edward Griffin, an ...

The Stunning Victory That Occupy Wall Street Has Already Achieved

In just one month, the protesters have shifted the national dialogue from a relentless focus on the deficit to a discussion of the real issues facing Main Street. October 26, 2011   Occupy Wall Street has already achieved a stunning victory – a victory that is easy to overlook, but impossible to overstate. In just one month, the protesters have shifted the national dialogue from a relentless focus on the deficit to a discussion of the real issues facing Main Street: the lack of jobs -- and especially jobs with decent benefits -- spiraling inequality, cash-strapped American families' debt-loads, and the pernicious influence of money in politics that led us to this ...

Will Marco Rubio's 'Lie' Matter As Much As His Politics?

Florida Republican and Tea Party favorite Sen. Marco Rubio can add a new line to his political bio: He's now part of a long list of politicians who have been accused of embellishing basic facts about their personal narratives. Like so many members of this infamous fraternity, Rubio has gone on the defensive since a Washington Post report alleged that he embellished crucial details about his parents' emigration from Cuba. In the end, Rubio's embellishments may not matter much to voters, particularly Latinos. Whether the senator is actually the son of exiles who fled Communist Cuba will have little impact on their daily lives. Latino's are more likely to judge him for ...

Bad news for President Obama and Congress, good news for Occupy Wall Street. A New York Times/CBS poll finds that distrust of government is at its highest level ever, with 89 percent of Americans saying they distrust government to do the right thing, 74 percent saying the country is on the wrong track, and 84 percent saying they disapprove of Congress. The poll also found that 43 percent of Americans say that wealth should be distributed more evenly in America. Asked specifically about the Occupy Wall Street protests, 25 percent of Americans said they had a favorable impression and 20 percent said they had an unfavorable one. Read it at The New York Times

Deputy U.S. Attorney General James Cole confirmed on Wednesday the Obama administration was recalling all training materials used by the law enforcement and national security communities, in order to eliminate all references to Islam. “I recently directed all components of the Department of Justice to re-evaluate their training efforts in a range of areas, from community outreach to national security,” Cole told a panel at the George Washington University law school. The move comes after complaints from Muslim advocacy organizations, including the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), which was identified as a Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas front group in the 2004 Holy ...

Struggling Dayton, Ohio, reaches out to immigrants

Dayton, Ohio -- On the same afternoon thousands of Latinos in Alabama took the day off to protest the state's strict new immigration law, Mexican-born Francisco Mejia was ringing up diners' bills and handing containers piled with carnitas to drive-through customers on the east side of Dayton. His family's Taqueria Mixteca is thriving on a street pockmarked with rundown buildings and vacant storefronts. "Business is very good," Mejia said, smiling broadly between orders. It's the kind of success story that leaders in Dayton think offers hope for an entire city. It has adopted a plan not only to encourage immigrants to come and feel welcome here, but also to use ...

‘Anonymous’ Vows To ‘Destroy’ Fox News Website On Nov. 5th

In a video statement carried recently by several official channels maintained by members of the hacker activist group “Anonymous,” a digitally generated voice explains that the online collective has decided to take down the Fox News website on Nov. 5th of this year. The date, Nov. 5, is significant for its dramatic placement in the film and comic book “V for Vendetta,” about a freedom-loving terrorist who destroys an authoritarian government that’s come to power in the U.K. “Remember, remember the 5th of November,” is his saying, hearkening back to the “Gunpowder plot” of 1604, in which the terrorist Guy Fawkes was captured and executed for his ...

Pat Robertson: The Republican Base Is Too ‘Extreme’ Right Now

Pat Robertson provided a statement Monday afternoon that some may consider a “pot meets kettle” moment. On the latest installment of The 700 Club, the televangelist the televangelist admitted that even he believes many in the Republican Party have shifted too far to the right. “I believe it was Lyndon Johnson that said, ‘Don’t these people realize if they push me over to an extreme position I’ll lose the election?’” Robertson said. “Those people in the Republican primary have got to lay off of this stuff. They’re forcing their leaders, the frontrunners, into positions that will mean they lose the general election.” He added: ...

10 Weeks to Iowa: Perry Proposes 20% Flat Tax

Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry proposed a tax overhaul that would cut corporate rates and give individuals the option of paying a 20 percent flat tax on their income. “Taxes will be cut across all income groups in America,” Perry said in a speech today at ISO Poly Films, a plastics company in Gray Court, South Carolina. “The net benefit will be more money in Americans’ pockets, with greater investment in the private economy instead of the federal government.” The plan would lower the corporate tax rate to 20 percent from 35 percent and give multinational companies a temporary incentive to bring home foreign-earned income at a far lower rate of 5.25 ...

Air Force Veteran Angry That Daughter's School Is Asking Her to Recite the Pledge of Allegiance

An Air Force veteran is outraged that her daughter’s school recently announced that students will be asked to recite the Pledge of Allegiance at the start of each day, the Seattle Times reports. Haley Sides, 26, moved to Seattle after four years in the Air Force so her 6-year-old daughter could attend John Stanford International School, which promotes the same multiculturalism that Sides says she has tried to instill in her half-Jamaican daughter, according to the paper. But Sides became angry when the school’s new principal announced that students will be asked to recite the Pledge of Allegiance each day before the start of classes. The policy, which has long been mandated by ...

Neal Boortz: Bad Weekend for Herman Cain (steps smack into a steaming, stinking pile of abortopolitics)

I was really feeling bad for Herman Cain over the weekend.  I love that guy.  I truly do.  And it was dismaying to see him step smack into a steaming, stinking pile of abortopolitics squeeze over the past few days.  You really never can get that stuff off your shoes, and you end up tracking it throughout your entire campaign.  I’ve been begging, though I knew it would do absolutely no good, for the anti-abortion zealots to just shut the hell up for once --- just for this critical election --- so that independent voters, especially women, wouldn’t run screaming from the GOP candidates in 2012.  So now Cain has been dragged into the arena of ...

GOP Candidate Buddy Roemer: ‘We’re In Trouble’

Former Louisiana Governor Buddy Roemer, who is a declared Republican presidential candidate although he has not been included in any debates, has come out in support of Occupy Wall Street. “There’s anger and anxiety in America. We’re in trouble,” he told MSNBC’s Chris Hayes on Sunday. “There is no leadership in either party that spells out what we must do now and for the next ten years.” Roemer asserted that the only two genuine issues of the campaign are corruption and jobs. “Washington, DC is corrupt,” he stated flatly, “and we must change it.” “I would love to live in a world in which you were the leading GOP contender,” ...

In their reaction to Rick Perry’s half-hearted foray into birtherism, MSNBC’s Morning Joe crew gave a very grim assessment Monday morning of all the Republican presidential candidates. Still in disbelief after the panel reenacted the Texas governor’s interview with Parade magazine, Mika Brzezinski was forthright in her assessment of the GOP field. “I’m disturbed,” she told co-host Joe Scarborough. “You have a disturbing set of candidates in your party, I’m sorry. It’s disturbing. Either they are walking around with slogans or they’re crazy.” Scarborough said he had “no defense” for those seeking the White House in his ...

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) said Sunday that saving the jobs of police and firefighters was not the role of the federal government. CNN’s Candy Crowley reminded the Kentucky Republican that a recent Gallup/USA Today poll found that 75 percent of Americans supported President Barack Obama’s plan to provide additional money for teachers, police and firefighters. “Republicans helped not break a filibuster, if you will, in a procedural vote,” Crowley explained. “You basically got rid of that jobs bill which would have given money to the states, designed to hire or retain fireman, policeman and teachers. When we look at the polling, 75 percent of ...

Sen. Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum claimed Sunday that by announcing the withdrawal of all U.S. troops from Iraq, President Barack Obama had “lost the war.” The candidate told CBS’ Bob Schieffer that the Republican reaction to the president’s announcement had been scathing because the Obama administration failed to convince Iraq to give U.S. troops immunity from prosecution. “We have a president that was not able to set conditions and actually have the kind of influence over the Iraqi government,” Santorum complained. “Now, three years the president has had to work with the Iraq government, to try to mold and shape that relationship.
