Rev. Graham:‘This Country Was Built on Christian Principles' Not Islam Post Date: 2015-01-22 20:31:27 by Gatlin

(CNSNews.com) Reverend Franklin Graham, son of world-renowned evangelist Billy Graham, said America was built on Christian principles but Christians are being pushed to the back of the room today, and he added that Americans need to embrace those principles, knowing that this country wasnt built by Islam or any other group but by those who supported and believed in the Lord Jesus Christ. I agree with diversity but whats happening with this country is all these religions are getting front row and Christians are being pushed -- and were the majority -- are being pushed back to the back of the ...
CHRISTIAN SCHOOL FORCED TO CLOSE AS INSPECTORS BRAND CHILDREN ‘BIGOTS’ FOR NOT KNOWING WHAT A MUSLIM IS Post Date: 2015-01-22 11:49:59 by Gatlin

Inspectors have labelled pupils at a Christian school bigots and forced it to close after a young boy gave the wrong answer when asked what a Muslim was. Teachers at the school say he referenced terrorism in his answer, but argued that one childs throwaway answer was no ground for closing the whole school. Durham Free School, which currently educates 94 pupils aged between 11 and 13, was praised by former education secretary Michael Gove when it opened in September 2013, the Daily Mail has reported. But inspectors visiting the school last November, after the new guidelines encouraging inspectors to rate schools on how they promote British values, deemed the school to have ...
The GOP's wrong-headed obsession with the 'Christian candidate' Post Date: 2015-01-22 11:38:53 by Gatlin

Pondering the increasing likelihood of Mitt Romney 2016, Nate Silver at FiveThirtyEight recently produced a five-circle Venn diagram of prospective GOP candidates for 2016, aptly titled, "The Republicans' Five-Ring Circus." There was a telling inclusion: "Christian Conservative" was one of the five rings. Silver places Mike Huckabee, Rick Santorum, and, to a lesser degree, Mike Pence, Rick Perry, and Bobby Jindal in this Christian Conservative category. I might add Ted Cruz and Ben Carson, at least on the margins, but Silver's labeling scheme is basically right. Religion matters for Democrats, too. But the awarding of the "Christian candidate" ...
Controversial group stakes out "Christian areas" in London Post Date: 2015-01-22 11:27:02 by Gatlin

LONDON -- On a Friday night in East London, activists with a group called "Britain First" took to the streets for what they call a Christian patrol. Our cameras went along with them as they entered a "predominantly Muslim occupied area," according to one of the group's members. It wasn't long before there was a confrontation. "What are you filming me for?" shouted a passerby. "This ain't your area pal, it's a Christian area, always has been," shouted back Paul Golding, the 32-year-old leader of Britain First. A former truck driver, Golding has been convicted for harassment. While it's difficult to know how many supporters he ...
Of the Father’s Love Begotten Post Date: 2015-01-21 16:45:21 by redleghunter

This past Lords Day we sang a hymn a cappella called Of the Fathers Love Begotten. Besides being a particularly beautiful tune (in spite of my singing a cappella) and having glorious theology wonderfully phrased in english, it has an impressive history. Ive been reading ahead for next semester in some of the courses for which I am registered. One required text is Mark Nolls Turning Points: Decisive Moments in the History of Christianity. Through the first quarter of the text, it is delightful and I expect the rest to follow suit. Regardless, the third chapter is introduced with a poem written by Aurelius Clemens Prudentius of the same title as our hymn. ...
When a nation murders 57 million babies & ignores gathering storm of Radical Islam, the state of the union is not “strong.” Post Date: 2015-01-21 13:53:32 by redleghunter

(Costa Mesa, California) America, for all that we have endured; for all the grit and hard work required to come back; for all the tasks that lie ahead, know this: The shadow of crisis has passed, and the State of the Union is strong. So began President Obama on Tuesday night in his 2015 State of the Union address to the nation and to a Joint Session of Congress. He was not the first American President to declare the state of the union strong. But with all due respect, the President is wrong. When a nation murders 57 million innocent babies, the state of the union is not strong. When a nation overtaxes and overregulates and over burdens the economy and ...
Saudi single women challenge tradition in love and marriage Post Date: 2015-01-21 07:13:32 by Willie Green

JIDDAH, Saudi Arabia (AP) Amna Fatani knows she wants a brilliant career and a life different from that of Saudi women of her mother's generation who married early, usually to a husband not of their own choosing. The 27-year-old, studying for her master's degree at Georgetown University in Washington and hoping to someday become Saudi Arabia's first female labor minister, is part of a growing number of Saudi women choosing to remain single through their 20s and into their 30s as they pursue other ambitions. The trend has ruffled ultraconservatives who see it as an affront to the very foundations of the kingdom, where strict interpretations of Islam and rigid tribal ...

Religion is just one part of the lethal cocktail, but it is a powerful intoxicant. The year 2015 has opened to slaughter in the name of gods. In Paris, two Islamist brothers executed Charlie Hebdo cartoonists in defense of the Prophet, while an associate killed shoppers in a kosher grocery. In Nigeria, Islamist members of Boko Haram massacred a town to cries of Allahu AkbarAllah is the greatest! Simultaneously, the United Nations released a report detailing the ethnic cleansing of Muslims in the Central African Republic by Christian militias, sometimes reciting Bible verses. On a more civilized note, Saudi Arabia began inflicting 1000 lashes on a jailed ...
Christian Blogger Declares Leggings "Lustful" Post Date: 2015-01-20 14:40:44 by Gatlin

Christian blogger and Oregon mom, Veronica Partridge, took her struggle over whether or not to wear leggings to the internet. Partridge's love of leggings was weighing "heavy on my heart," she wrote on her self-named blog. So the blogger asked her husband, motivational speaker Dale Partridge, his thoughts on leggings. According to Partridge her husband said, "When I walk into a place and there are women wearing yoga pants everywhere, it's hard to not look. I don't, but it's not easy." And with that singular confession of lust and arousal over what's essentially women's shit-clothing, Partridge decided to ditch leggings for more modest clothes. ...

The bizarre and costly cult of Richard DawkinsIts like a church without the good bits. Membership starts from $85 a month The other day I wrote something to upset the followers of Richard Dawkins and one of them tracked me down to a pub. I had been asked to give a talk to a group of Skeptics in the Pub about whether there are any atheist babies clearly not, in any interesting sense and at the end a bearded bloke, bulging in a white T-shirt, asked very angrily where Dawkins had said there were any. I quoted a couple of his recent tweets on the subject: When you say X is the fastest growing religion, all you mean is that X people have babies at ...

How God turns a French atheist into a Christian theologian - My conversion story Post Date: 2015-01-19 12:07:09 by redleghunter

A number of people lately have been intrigued to meet a French theologian, and have asked me to tell them the story of how I, a French atheist, became a Christian scholar. Even the theologians and apologists I met recently at the ETS Conference in Baltimore (where by Gods grace I was delivering my first scholarly paper) seemed to care (understandably) more about my conversion from atheism than my immediate theology paper! Therefore, it seemed fitting to type it up properly, to have a clean telling of that story of God breaking into my life, ready to be shared with people who ask. So here it is (and please let me know if you spot spelling mistakes or awkward sentences, Im still ...

To my dearest daughter, Now that you are ten, I want to write to you about something that is important to me. Have you ever wondered how we know the things that we know? How do we know, for instance, that the stars, which look like tiny pinpricks in the sky, are really huge balls of fire like the Sun and very far away? And how do we know that the Earth is a smaller ball whirling round one of those stars, the Sun? The answer to these questions is evidence. Sometimes evidence means actually seeing (or hearing, feeling, smelling
.) that something is true. Astronauts have traveled far enough from the Earth to see with their own eyes that it is round. Sometimes our eyes need ...

How do you know that the Bible is Divinely inspired? Leave a comment Posted by Anna Diehl on November 8, 2013 What we call the Bible today is a collection of old manuscripts that are believed to be Divinely inspired. The entire book did not magically appear one day out of thin air; instead the documents collected in it came into being at very different points in history. The ages of some manuscripts differ by centuries. It is important that we understand how our Bible came into being and what a tenuous thing its existence really is. After all, whos to say that the Bible you read is really the correct one? Within the Christian Church there are several different biblical canons ...

Duke University reverses plan for bell tower Muslim call to prayer By Marti Maguire RALEIGH, N.C. Thu Jan 15, 2015 6:09pm EST (Reuters) - Duke University scrapped plans on Thursday to allow the Muslim call to prayer to emanate from its chapel bell tower, university officials said, amid fierce criticism from conservative Christians and anger from alumni. Earlier in the week, university officials said the weekly chant by Muslim students, known as the adhan, would be amplified from Duke Chapel beginning on Friday. "Duke remains committed to fostering an inclusive, tolerant and welcoming campus for all of its students," said university spokesman Michael Schoenfeld in a statement ...

The light turned yellow, just in front of him. He did the right thing, stopping at the crosswalk, even though he could have beaten the red light by accelerating through the intersection. The tailgating woman was furious and honked her horn, screaming in frustration, as she missed her chance to get through the intersection, dropping her cell phone and makeup. As she was still in mid-rant, she heard a tap on her window and lookedup into the face of a very serious police officer. The officer ordered her to exit her car with her hands up. He took her to the police station where she was searched, fingerprinted, photographed, and placed in a holding cell. After a couple of hours, a ...

School district caves after balking to offer Hobby Lobby Bible course Post Date: 2014-12-12 12:21:13 by redleghunter

An Oklahoma school district has announced that it has indefinitely cancelled a Bible curriculum developed by Hobby Lobby. Even though school officials postponed implementing the curriculum from its initial August launch date to January, the full rejection of the course that was spearheaded by the giant Christian retail chain came as a surprise to many, especially after the school district unanimously voted (4-0) to adopt the Bible history curriculum earlier this year. One of the chief opponents to implementing the Bible curriculum from the onset of the proposal has been the Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF), an atheist group that has gained a reputation for striving to eliminate ...

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Saturday that the Americas were discovered by Muslims in the 12th century, nearly three centuries before Christopher Columbus set foot there. "Contacts between Latin America and Islam date back to the 12th century. Muslims discovered America in 1178, not Christopher Columbus," the conservative president said in a televised speech during an Istanbul summit of Muslim leaders from Latin America. "Muslim sailors arrived in America from 1178. Columbus mentioned the existence of a mosque on a hill on the Cuban coast," Erdogan said. Erdogan said that Ankara was even prepared to build a mosque at the site mentioned by the Genoese ...

Today is the feast day of St. Nectarios of Aegina, a relatively modern Saint who had to deal with many relatively modern problems.
