It’s not like we have not seen this coming. In the coming days, Andy Stanley is set to host the “Unconditional Conference” at a campus of North Point Community Church in the metro Atlanta area, and the website for the conference bills it as a “two-day premier event” especially designed for parents of LGBTQ+ children and ministry leaders. “You will be equipped, refreshed, and inspired as you hear from leading communicators on topics that speak to your heart, soul, and mind,” it promises. One statement stands out in the description: “No matter what theological stance you hold, we invite you to listen, reflect, and learn as we approach this topic from ...

Cantor Phillip A. Magness is a sacred music educator for The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) Office of International Mission. One of his projects as a missionary has been the production of Édition Africaine (ÉA), a hymnal to serve francophone singers and congregations, particularly in Africa. In a recent newsletter, Magness writes, “Producing a hymnal requires a team — and the quality of the hymnal depends on the abilities and dedication of that team. Édition Africaine had particular needs, and the Lord graciously provided for them through the humble service of the Rev. Dr. David Saar and the Rev. Dr. David Somers. Click for Full Text!

Sermon: Wittenberg Academy – Sep 19, 2023
Post Date: 2023-09-21 00:29:19 by Charles_Byrd
St. Paul urges that we pray for “all people,” but especially “for kings and all who are in high positions.” Some people interpret this to mean that we should always support the government – even when they are wicked or acting illegally. St. Paul himself would be executed by Caesar just a few years after writing this letter to St. Timothy. So would St. Peter. And for nearly three hundred years, Christians would suffer periods of persecution under various emperors of Rome. And yet we are to pray for them. Certainly, this is a continuation of our Lord’s instruction that we pray for our enemies, and even love them (Matt 5:44). We love our enemies by seeking their ...

Ready for an AI pastor? Not too distant future in South Korea
Post Date: 2023-09-19 00:42:32 by Charles_Byrd
Some Christians in South Korea are actively embracing the hottest technology of ChatGPT in their spiritual life, sparking controversy over the role of soulless technology in faith in a country where Christianity reigns as the biggest religion. At the center of the controversy are startups developing generative artificial intelligence-backed bible study and prayer service apps, to add to those that are already used by many Christians in Korea. The Pervasive Cancer of “White Guilt” In the Evangelical Church
Post Date: 2023-09-19 00:38:51 by Charles_Byrd
“White guilt,” you’ve heard of it. You’ve read it in the headlines. And you may know people who suffer from it. But what is it? Is it a mental disorder? Is it some other kind of ailment? Or is it sin? Click for Full Text!

Resisting Papal Overreach: The Story of Bishop Isidore Borecky
Post Date: 2023-09-18 00:25:44 by Charles_Byrd
Everyone by now has heard the news that Pope Francis, on the recommendation of the U.S. papal nuncio and the visitators, is expected imminently to request the resignation of Bishop Joseph Strickland. In an interview done two months ago with John-Henry Westen, I explained why I believe the good bishop should not only refuse that request, but also refuse to acknowledge his deposition if Rome should proceed to that dire step. Why do I argue this? According to the teaching of the Second Vatican Council, “the apostles’ office of nurturing the Church is permanent and is to be exercised without interruption by the sacred order of bishops. Veggie Tales Creator Releases Series Ft. Woke Xtians Complaining About Being Judged
Post Date: 2023-09-15 01:14:45 by Charles_Byrd
VeggieTales creator and Holy Post podcast host Phil Vischer has gotten beat up on social media over the last few days, and with good reason. The shots have been coming after he criticized a conservative TV network for not featuring LBGTQ characters in films, compared Christians who oppose legal same-sex marriage to ‘confederate theologians’, and refuses to publicly condemn same-sex marriage, all the while doing so in a smarmy voice that would make even Andy Stanley jealous. This is on top of knocking creationists as a bunch of dummies, crediting his white privilege for the success of his show, claiming he didn’t know there were such things black Christians until he was an ...

‘A vehicle for profit’: Jill Duggar details her family’s reality TV finances in ‘Counting the Cost’
Post Date: 2023-09-14 23:30:09 by Charles_Byrd
For more than a decade, Jill Duggar was the wholesome star of “19 Kids and Counting” and “Counting On,” the sweetly obedient daughter of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar who became the first woman in the family to marry and seemed destined to follow in her parents’ footsteps. Instead, she’s now calling out her family for exploiting her on reality TV. In “Counting the Cost,” a memoir released on Tuesday, Duggar sheds unprecedented light on the inner workings of her sprawling Christian fundamentalist family, who rose to fame on the cable network TLC and later saw their empire crumble when first-born son Josh Duggar was convicted on child pornography charges ...

‘Cussing Pastor’ Tim Ross Praises White Lady Regurgitating ‘White Fragility’ and ‘Anti-racism’ Talking Points
Post Date: 2023-09-13 03:22:57 by Charles_Byrd
Church-growth guru and Transformation Church pastor Tim Ross has revived the spirit of 2020, praising and extolling a guest on his show for regurgitating all the worst cliches of Critical Race Theology and anti- racism talking points. We last wrote about Ross after he said it shouldn’t be considered cheating for a married man to dance sexually, get twerked on, and slap the butt of a half-naked dancer. Then we featured him praising famed Modalist T.D. Jakes, while saying a belief in the Trinity is a secondary, non- essential issue and that it’s crazy for Christians to divide over Trinitarian doctrine. He also compared Jesus to a naked stripper that ‘puts bread in my ...

Church of England considers abandoning Christianity
Post Date: 2023-09-13 01:14:11 by Charles_Byrd
The Church of England convened a synod this past week, a gathering of bishops, clergy and laypeople for the purpose of reviewing and possibly changing church doctrine. The result of this particular gathering was that the national assembly voted, after two days of debate, to let Anglican priests bless same-sex weddings and civil partnerships. The blessings will come despite the fact gay and lesbian weddings will still be prohibited in the church. Click for Full Text!

YIKES: Who Had A WORSE Week, The Vatican Or Canterbury?
Post Date: 2023-09-06 19:33:32 by Charles_Byrd
It was kind of a tough week for Christians in liturgical churches as the people in the pews watched their leaders make a mess of things in public. On one hand, the Pope stepped out into politics. He has a spectacular record of horrible political takes — and this week was no different. Click for Full Text!

Theological Song Review: More Like Jesus
Post Date: 2023-09-01 23:21:27 by Charles_Byrd
Church worship trends in one of two directions. Either it progresses towards higher, God-pleasing, more exclusive worship practice and proclamation, or it moves towards more generalized, ecumenical, and man- pleasing practice. The God of the Bible and his gospel are exclusive, and the more specific the identity, works, and majesty of the Lord, the higher and more God-honoring the worship. While we may experience good feelings and should be edified by our participation, bringing a sacrifice of praise that glorifies the true God for who He truly is must be the main priority of our worship gathering. The material brought into the worship gathering is a prime indicator of the standards, ...

Beth Moore’s Church Hosts ‘Interfaith Dialogue’ With Iman Who Chants the Quran From the Pulpit
Post Date: 2023-09-01 23:14:13 by Charles_Byrd
Several days ago, Beth Moore’s home church hosted an interfaith dialogue between Rev. Michael Dearman, a priest from HopePointe Anglican Church who is married to Rev. Katie Dearman, and Osman Fuad, the Iman and resident scholar at the Woodlands Islamic Center. The event took place at St. Timothy’s Anglican Church, a liturgical church within the Diocese of the Western Gulf Coast, which is part of the Anglican Church of North America (ACNA.) Moore became a member of this church years ago after jumping ship from the SBC, when she could no longer handle their criticism of her egalitarian opining and inflammatory rhetoric (see endnotes) Click for Full Text!

Vespers and Evening Hymns
Post Date: 2023-08-25 21:36:16 by Charles_Byrd
The historic church used to partake in a set of daily services called the Daily Office. This kept people connected to God and in community with His Word throughout their working lives. While most churches do not observe these Daily Offices today, we still retain their settings, and they are certainly beneficial to incorporate into the life of the church, devotions with family, or other settings. Today, we look at the order of Vespers and some appropriate hymns to accompany it. The following has been adapted from Lutheran Service Book: Companion to the Services and Lutheran Service Book: Companion to the Hymns. Click for Full Text!

Gospel Artist Dante Bowe Lies About Leaked ‘Inappropriate’ Selfie: ‘it wasn’t like a sexual photo’
Post Date: 2023-08-25 02:20:22 by Charles_Byrd
Former Maverick City Music singer and celebrated gospel artist Dante Bowe has commented publicly for the first time on the existence of an ‘inappropriate photo’ he took of himself that he accidentally leaked, claiming it wasn’t ‘sexual’ or ‘that bad’ despite him being fully nude. Last year, Bowe was ejected from MCM for unspecified wrongdoing. Bowe issued a brief non-apology apology that he later deleted. Since then, he’s continued to spiral into worldliness and obscenity, from recently wearing a disgusting shirt during a Vogue photoshoot that is unprecedented in terms of behavior that we’ve seen before from a self-declared Christian worship ...

Devil Blaster? Top Female Evangelist in The Word Whips Out Her Water Pistol Filled With ‘Anointed’ Oil
Post Date: 2023-08-25 02:15:08 by Charles_Byrd
We last wrote about singer Juanita Bynum, the prosperity-gospel preaching prophetess and self-described “Number 1 Female Evangelist in the World” after, along with selling $2000 life coaching sessions and $133 praying kits on her website, she made available to purchase a ‘Black Vow Card’ that gives a 25% discount on her products for the tidy sum of $5,333, meaning you’d have to spend tens of thousands of dollars in merch even to be worth it. During a message at last week’s Weapons of Power conference, she whipped out a water pistol filled with a concoction of anointed oil given to her by anointed men and women in her life: mother, aunt, and spiritual parents ...

Brian Houston Rejoices at ‘Not Guilty’ Verdict, Announces His Next Plans
Post Date: 2023-08-25 02:03:53 by Charles_Byrd
Brian Houston has been crooning and crowing after being acquitted on charges that he concealed his father’s sexual abuse of a minor by not reporting it to the police. It’s an odd boast, given that he did conceal it and did not go to the police after learning that his father was a pedophile. Still, Sydney Court Magistrate Gareth Christofi ruled that Houston had a “reasonable excuse” for his inaction, saying that he believed Houston’s testimony that he stayed silent because the victim did not want him to say anything. While it may be true that the victim did not want Houston to go to the police, (the victim denies this) this does not excuse Houston’s moral ...
