Veteran investigative reporter Seymour Hersh has broken some massive stories in his day, but uncovering secret societies within the highest echelons of America's military would probably be the biggest of his career. Well, get ready for the media storm: That's essentially what Hersh told an audience in Doha, Qatar recently, according to a report published earlier this week by Foreign Policy. Speaking at a campus operated by Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service, Hersh said he was working on a new book that details "how eight or nine neoconservative, radicals if you will, overthrew the American government." "It's not only that the neocons took it ...
Politifact Calls Out Michelle Malkin for Dishonest Anti-Obama Smear Post Date: 2011-01-13 22:22:19 by Skip Intro

Wingnut queen bee Michelle Malkin gets a nice big FALSE rating from PolitiFact.com for doing what shes done many times before concocting an outrageous outrage out of thin air. And this might be the cheapest and ugliest one yet. Malkin tried to claim that the White House orchestrated a branded political event out of the Arizona mass murder: Did the White House brand the Arizona memorial service with a logo and slogan? The University of Arizona memorial service for the victims of the Tucson, Ariz. shootings was called Together We Thrive. But Michele Malkin claimed the slogan was cooked up by the White House In an opinion piece about the Jan. ...

WASHINGTON -- Sarah Palin has just proven again that she has only one gear -- forward -- and only one mode -- attack. The 2012 presidential campaign has begun, not in Iowa or New Hampshire, but in the bloody streets of Tucson. On Monday, former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, a mild-mannered character and first out of the chute in the race for the Republican nomination, dared to question -- mildly and by implication -- the harsh rhetorical tactics of the rootin'-tootin' Annie Oakley of the North. There is no "evidence" of a link between such rhetoric and the actions of Jared Lee Loughner, Pawlenty stressed, "but it would not have been my style" to have ...

LOS ANGELES Travelers passing through Los Angeles International Airport are finding that security officers have more than a scan or pat-down for them this holiday season. They're offering musical entertainment, too. The LAX TSA Choir, a group of 17 singers and musicians, all of them officers of the Transportation Security Administration, have been surprising passengers with performances of holiday music and other tunes in the midst of one of the nation's busiest airports. "Wow, it's crazy," said Miriam Kositchek of Santa Monica, Calif., who was clutching her ticket and passport for a flight to London when the LAX TSA Choir broke into song at the Bradley ...

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin began a tightly stage-managed visit to Haiti on Saturday in which she visited cholera clinics while avoiding crowds and the press. The 2008 vice presidential candidate was a guest of Rev. Franklin Graham, whose aid group works in the impoverished country. Haiti is facing a brutal cholera epidemic while struggling with an electoral crisis and reconstruction from the January earthquake. Palin, who traveled in part by helicopter, provided access on her tour solely to the U.S. cable network Fox News. Graham's organization, Samaritan's Purse, refused to discuss Palin's itinerary with other media and asked Haitian and ...

O'Donnell's quote is cited by Fred Shapiro, associate librarian at Yale Law School, who released his fifth annual list of the most notable quotations of the year. In the ad, O'Donnell was responding to reports of her revelations that she had dabbled in witchcraft years ago. "It was such a remarkable unconventional quote to be a part of the political discourse," Shapiro said. The quote by O'Donnell, a tea party favorite running in Delaware, tied for ...

"Sarah Palin's Alaska" set a TLC ratings record when it debuted to 5 million viewers last week, but the second episode showed a huge drop-off in viewership. Episode two of the Palin reality show averaged just 3 million viewers, down 40% from the previous week. Perhaps more troubling are the viewer demographics. The show averaged just 885,000 viewers in the advertiser-friendly 18-49 demo, and the median age of the show's viewer is a whopping 57 years old. According to The Live Feed's James Hibberd, that's 15 years older than TLC's median age of 42.

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) A military officer who heard from more than two dozen soldiers wounded during last year's deadly Fort Hood shooting rampage issued an initial recommendation Tuesday about whether an Army psychiatrist should stand trial in the attack. But the military is not releasing the report. Col. James Pohl, who oversaw the recent Article 32 hearing for Maj. Nidal Hasan, gave his report to another high-ranking Army official. If that officer believes that Hasan should be court-martialed, a commanding general still must make the final determination. Pohl's recommendation is not subject to public disclosure laws, Fort Hood officials said. Hasan's lead defense ...

Americans' view of Sarah Palin is more unfavorable now than at any time since she was the Republican vice presidential nominee. According to a poll released Friday, 52 percent now say they have an unfavorable view of the former Alaska governor, whose visibility remains high following her campaign efforts during the midterm election season. Her unfavorability rating hit 50 percent only one other time, in October 2009. Those who view Palin positively have also declined this year, from a consistent 44 percent of the public in late 2009 to 40 percent this November. She remains popular among a wide majority of Republicans (80 percent), as she was in November 2008 (83 percent). Among ...
Barack Obama: We Must Embrace Globalism And The Emerging One World Economy (NWO Bushbot) Post Date: 2010-11-10 13:44:28 by Hondo68

Although it received very little coverage in the mainstream media, Barack Obama made some comments about globalism during his speech in Mumbai, India that were very eye-opening. As he was discussing the new realities of world trade in 2010, Obama warned against "those who see globalization as a threat" and he spoke of the "integrated world" in which we all now live. But is merging the entire globe into a one world economy, a one world financial system and a one world labor market really the best thing for the American people? For the past two decades, all U.S. presidents have been heralding the benefits of merging the American economy with the rest of the globe. George ...

But one of the staffers was described as a counselor to help with the emotional aspect of the loss and a section in the packet each staffer was given dealt with the stages of grief (for instance, Stage One being anger, and so on). It was like it was about death, the staffer said. It was bizarre. The staffer did say the portions about the benefits and résumé writing were ...

Tea party support helped elect Republicans nationally last week, but local members of both groups aren't sure whether they now want to build bridges or burn them. The GOP and the tea party share some principles -- particularly for smaller government, lower taxes and free markets. But the Hamilton County Republican Party chairwoman says the tea party is a clique of conservatives not willing to respect party procedures. "They've become exclusive and very elitist. Some of them are even cultish," Chairwoman Delores Vinson said. "About what they are good for is siphoning off votes from the Republicans." And Chattanooga Tea Party President Mark West says the local ...

President Barack Obama will undoubtedly employ top-notch security during his Indian travels this week, but there's one additional threat White House officials might not have previously considered -- New Dehli's infamous herds of stray monkeys. According to the Telegraph, Delhi's police force have opted to build 30-foot-tall towers not far from the exclusive ITC Mauriya Hotel, where the Obamas will be staying for two days, in order to shield the president and his wife from both potential terrorists and monkeys. The hotel's proximity to the capital's Ridge Forest means the menacing animals have relatively easy access. In addition to general daily mayhem, the ...
