Treeless—and Clueless—in Seattle

In another outrageous surrender to PC foolishness, 15 Christmas trees inside a terminal at SEA-TAC airport in Seattle have been removed because of religious intolerance. This controversy bubbled over into complete insanity when a local rabbi demanded that a menorah be installed and dedicated at a public lighting ceremony at the airport. In the spirit of the season, the rabbi gave a two-day deadline for his demands to be met; proving once and for all that the message of Christmas has an amazing potential to heal. CHARLESTON, S.C. — Ali Saleh Kahlah al-Marri is the last enemy combatant imprisoned in this country. Yet four years after his arrest, government officials still cannot agree on what threat he posed. In a new allegation, former Atty. Gen. John Ashcroft says Al-Marri was sent to the United States a day before the Sept. 11 attacks to plan strikes on West Coast targets, including the tallest building in Los Angeles. Ashcroft's claim — made in a new book — is the first time any U.S. official has directly linked Al-Marri to the West Coast attacks that Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden allegedly hoped would follow the deaths of nearly 3,000 people in New York, the Pentagon and ...

Cattleman wants to save prairie dogs on his ranch
Post Date: 2006-12-10 21:40:59 by A K A Stone

RUSSELL SPRINGS -- A cattleman who regards prairie dogs as an essential cog in the northwest Kansas ecosystem said Thursday he remains hopeful that Logan County will abandon plans to kill the rodents on his acreage with poison. Larry Haverfield, 70, had been given until Wednesday to move his herds so that contractors could enter his property and apply a chemical to exterminate the prairie dogs. Otherwise, he was told, the county would enter the land and start spreading a far more expensive poison that can be used while cattle are present -- and would bill him for the higher cost. But Wednesday and most of Thursday passed without any sign of exterminators, Haverfield said, and he hoped the ...

A drill planned to demonstrate the Navy's ability to knock down two incoming missiles at once from the same ship failed off Hawaii's coast on Thursday, the U.S. Missile Defense Agency said. A computer configuration problem aboard the USS Lake Erie grounded one interceptor missile, and officials halted the second during the test of the sea-based U.S. missile defense system. It was the second failure in nine tests of the system by the agency and the U.S. Navy, said Missile Defense Agency spokesman Chris Taylor. The U.S. Pacific Fleet has been gradually installing missile surveillance and tracking technology on many of its destroyers and cruisers amid concerns about North Korea's ...

Post Date: 2006-12-07 14:00:45 by A K A Stone

After almost two years of negotiations, the Senate passed a bill last night sponsored by Sen. Richard Burr, R-N.C., that would create a new federal agency to combat bioterrorism. The bill to establish the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority has been a priority of Burr's since his first day in the Senate. After the vote last night, Burr said he was "excited" that the bill had finally passed. Sen. Edward Kennedy, D-Mass., a co-sponsor of the bill, agreed in a statement released yesterday afternoon that the bill was critically needed. "Today, we face the possibility of a pandemic or bioterrorist attack, which could be as bad as Hurricane Katrina in ...

Mary Cheney, the vice president's openly gay daughter, is pregnant. She and her partner of 15 years, Heather Poe, are "ecstatic" about the baby, due in late spring, said a source close to the couple. It's a baby boom for grandparents Dick and Lynne Cheney: Their older daughter, Elizabeth, went on leave as deputy assistant secretary of state before having her fifth child in July. "The vice president and Mrs. Cheney are looking forward with eager anticipation to the arrival of their sixth grandchild," spokesman Lea Anne McBride said last night. Cheney, 37, was a key aide to her father during the 2004 reelection campaign and now is vice president for consumer ...

Homosexuals Love Bush's Supreme Court Nominees

Bush's biggest coup was his choice to be the new Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court. John Roberts, a gay judge, is not only queer himself, but he's the infamous attorney who represented the entire homosexual community of America in the notorious, landmark court case, Romer v Evans (1996), in which all state laws forbidding acts of sodomy were declared unconstitutional. The depraved Judge Roberts is so fanatical in his support of sodomy and gay rights he even fought the case for his limp-wristed buddies on a pro bono basis—he didn't even charge the queer groups a dime for his services. Now that's real devotion to a cause, however corrupt. So, thanks ...

Wal-Mart opponents stifled Cite free-speech rights after Littleton tells them to cover shirts, buttons

Littleton - A fight over a new Wal-Mart is turning into a battle over free speech after opponents were told to put down their signs and take off their buttons and T-shirts in city hall last week. "We felt like we were being railroaded," said Robert Davis, 65, who was forced to turn his "Littleton Against Wal-Mart" shirt inside out. "This flies in the face of the First Amendment." A half-dozen or more police officers told numerous opponents to remove or cover their regalia or leave, according to witnesses. "We weren't going to do anything," said Davis, who is now working with Denver civil rights lawyer David Lane on a possible lawsuit. "We ...

Some Democrat Party lawmakers claim the volunteer military may become dangerously stretched thin by events occuring in Iran, North Korea and Syria. They believe the answer to acquiring more troops is to reinstate the draft. Congressman Charles Rangel says that once he's chairman of the House Ways & Means Committee he will introduce new legislation to reinstate the military draft. "Every day that the military option is on the table, as declared by the President in his State of the Union address, in Iran, North Korea, and Syria, reinstatement of the military draft is an option that must also be considered, whether we like it or not," Congressman Rangel said in a statement. ...

The video, recorded by a security camera at the Doubletree Hotel in Arlington, was released to public interest group Judicial Watch and others who filed a lawsuit seeking the tape and other videos from that day. WASHINGTON (Reuters)- When radio host Jerry Klein suggested that all Muslims in the United States should be identified with a crescent-shape tattoo or a distinctive arm band, the phone lines jammed instantly. The first caller to the station in Washington said that Klein must be "off his rocker." The second congratulated him and added: "Not only do you tattoo them in the middle of their forehead but you ship them out of this country ... they are here to kill us." Another said that tattoos, armbands and other identifying markers such as crescent marks on driver's licenses, passports and birth certificates did not go far enough. "What good is identifying ...

WASHINGTON (AP) - Police and prosecutors are worried that a Web site claiming to identify more than 4,000 informants and undercover agents will cripple investigations and hang targets on witnesses. The Web site, http://WhosaRat.com, first caught the attention of authorities after a Massachusetts man put it online and named a few dozen people as turncoats in 2004. Since then, it has grown into a clearinghouse for mug shots, court papers and rumors. Federal prosecutors say the site was set up to encourage violence, and federal judges around the country were recently warned that witnesses in their courtrooms may be profiled online. "My concern is making sure cooperators are adequately ...

Nike+ IPod = Surveillance

If you enhance your workout with the new Nike+ iPod Sport Kit, you may be making yourself a surveillance target. A report from four University of Washington researchers to be released Thursday reveals that security flaws in the new RFID-powered device from Nike and Apple make it easy for tech-savvy stalkers, thieves and corporations to track your movements. With just a few hundred dollars and a little know-how, someone could even plot your running routes on a Google map without your knowledge. The Nike+ iPod gives runners real-time updates about the speed and length of their workouts via a small RFID device that fits into the soles of Nike shoes, and broadcasts workout data to a small ...

A tough California bill that would have prohibited companies and individuals from using deceptive "pretexting" ruses to steal private information about consumers was killed after determined lobbying by the motion picture industry, Wired News has learned. The bill, SB1666, was written by state Sen. Debra Bowen, and would have barred investigators from making "false, fictitious or fraudulent" statements or representations to obtain private information about an individual, including telephone calling records, Social Security numbers and financial information. Victims would have had the right to sue for damages. The bill won approval in three committees and sailed ...

Details have emerged concerning Newt Gingrich’s attack on the Bill of Rights. It is not simply the First Amendment the American Enterprise Institute and Council on Foreign Relations neocon wants to “supervise,” but the Fourth Amendment as well, using Britain’s recently imposed detention rule as a template. “The former speaker also pointed approvingly to England, where suspects in terrorism cases can be detained for several weeks without charge,” reports the New York Sun. According to Gingrich, if we don’t torch the Bill of Rights, we are “truly stupid,” because respecting our founding principles will allow al-CIA-duh to take out a city. How the ...
