For the first time, Social Security will pay out more in benefits than it receives in tax revenue, to the tune of $29 billion. The worry was that the weak marketplace lead to a rise in interest rates to make the bills more attractive to investors. The interest rate rise which could be the beginning of an inflationary period. The Maine Sunday Telegram says the new law means about 140,000 people in Maine will soon be more likely to see a primary care doctor rather than waiting until they're sick enough for the emergency room.
