BP Oil Well Leaking Five Times Faster Than Estimated Post Date: 2010-04-29 10:08:12 by war

April 29 (Bloomberg) -- A damaged BP Plc oil well in the Gulf of Mexico is leaking as many as 5,000 barrels of crude a day, five times more than previous estimates as the oil slick drifted the closest yet to shore, the U.S. Coast Guard said. BP and federal officials have identified a third leak from the well and related piping, said Erik Swanson, a Coast Guard spokesman. The edge of the spill was 16 miles (26 kilometers) from Louisiana at 8 p.m. local time yesterday, David Mosley, a spokesman for the spill response command, said this morning. At that rate of leakage, by the third week in June it will exceed the 260,000 barrels the Exxon Valdez spilled in Alaskas Prince William Sound ...
Growing Public Anger Towards The Kenyan Usurper's Government Post Date: 2010-04-29 09:52:14 by no gnu taxes

Growing Public Anger in America - by Stephen Lendman The Pew Research Center (PRC) for the People & the Press is "an independent, non-partisan public opinion research organization that studies attitudes toward politics, the press and public policy issues." On April 18, it published a report titled, "Distrust, Discontent, Anger and Partisan Rancor," saying: "By almost every conceivable measure Americans are less positive and more critical of government these days." A new PRC survey confirms it, and why not under a "perfect storm of conditions" - a wrecked economy for millions fueling distrust and an "epic discontent with Congress and ...
Obama's Immigration Sword Waving Cowers Down: It Sounds Like Amnesty is Further Down the Road Post Date: 2010-04-29 09:44:30 by no gnu taxes

Obama must be realizing America agrees with Arizona according to the polls. As more Americans face unemployment the fact Obama even talks about adding 12 to 20 million illegals to the workforce through amnesty is just crazy, so it's no wonder more than 60% of Americans favor Arizona's tough immigration bill. Obama started off the week waving his immigration sword pushing for amnesty, and at the end of the day today, it sounds like Obama is cowering down. Of course the coward waited until he was aboard Air Force One to comment after a day of sounding tough against Arizona. He said Congress "may not be an appetite" to deal with immigration this year. "We've gone ...
The Obama Economy -- The Highest Unemployment Level in History Post Date: 2010-04-29 09:35:29 by no gnu taxes

Is our unemployment level the highest in US history? I would say yes because the job-structure of 1933 America is quite a bit different than it is today. Also the news claims data suggests a increasing cumulative number of jobless people in the total economy. Todays market moving statistics dont mean anything. I do see Political Economy using laws to slow the hemorrhaging down in three unproductive fields including government, finance, and healthcare-insurance administration. Nothing is being done to develop the physical economy; this can be done through technology and changes to social structure.
About Obama’s ‘Saved or Created’ Scam: 99 of 100 metros lost jobs in past year Post Date: 2010-04-29 08:48:09 by no gnu taxes

Like most things Obama claims, the saved or created jobs gimmick is nothing but more lies. If youre in the hole by 8 million, you cant claim youve saved or created jobs until you create 8 million + new jobs. Its that simple. Need more proof that Obama is full of sh*t? Here it is
The economic recovery hasnt arrived quite yet. Ninety-nine of the nations 100 largest markets including Buffalo have fewer private-sector jobs now than they did a year ago, according to a report released Wednesday by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. The sole exception is Augusta, Ga., which added 100 private-sector jobs between March 2009 and the same ...
New Oil Leak In Area Of Sunken Drilling Rig; 5 Times More Spilling Into Water Than Previously Believed Post Date: 2010-04-28 23:52:56 by Brian S

(04-28) 20:41 PDT OVER THE GULF OF MEXICO (AP) -- A new oil leak was discovered at the site in the Gulf of Mexico where a drilling rig exploded and sank, and experts now estimate that five times more has been spilling into the water a day than previously believed, the Coast Guard said late Wednesday. However, an official from BP PLC, which leases the rig, said he did not believe the newly discovered leak has increased the amount of oil spilling into the water beyond earlier estimates. Coast Guard Rear Adm. Mary Landry disagreed with his statement at a news conference and said she was relying on a new estimate from the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration. She said NOAA experts now ...
Crist To Run As Independent In FL Senate Race Post Date: 2010-04-28 14:19:21 by Brian S

Republican Florida Governor Charlie Crist has decided he will run as an independent in the race to fill the Florida U.S. Senate seat, Crist allies tell Fox News. The official announcement is scheduled for Thursday at 5pm ET in St. Petersburg, Florida. The Senate campaign has been rough and tumble for Crist, he was once the front-runner -- but in recent months began trailing his GOP opponent, Florida State Speaker Marco Rubio. Crist has said that under no circumstance would he drop out of the race, saying he will do what is best for the voters of Florida. The governor says Republicans in Washington want him to stay in the Republican party but voters in Florida have told him they want him ...
5 Charged In Ga. After Explosives Found In Car Post Date: 2010-04-28 14:09:30 by Brian S

BUFORD - Five people were arrested after police discovered a pair of explosive devices during a routine traffic stop on Monday in Buford. It started on North Price Road in Buford, when a policeman stopped the car with four of the suspects inside, and saw what he thought were explosives in the car. An Explosive Ordinance Disposal team was called to the scene, as well as fire investigators and officials with Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms. They were able to determine the devices were active explosives, and the investigation led to one of the suspects' rented homes on Line Street in Buford. During a search of the basement and detached apartment, officers recovered more items consistent ...
Pro-Democracy Dissidents Missing President Bush? Post Date: 2010-04-28 12:53:27 by no gnu taxes

No one seems to know precisely who is behind the "Miss Me Yet?" billboardthe cheeky one featuring a grinning George W. Bush that looks out over I-35 near Wyoming, Minn. But Syrian dissident Ahed Al-Hendi sympathizes with the thought. In 2006, Mr. Hendi was browsing pro-democracy Web sites in a Damascus Internet café when plainclothes cops carrying automatic guns swooped in, cuffed him, and threw him into the trunk of a car. He spent over a month in prison, some of it alone in a 5-by-3 windowless basement cell where he listened to his friend being tortured in the one next door. Those screams, he says, were cold comfortat least he knew his friend hadn't been ...

Laura Bush has finally opened up publicly about the mysterious car accident she had when she was 17, a crash that claimed the life of a high school friend on a dark country road in Midland, Tex. In her new book, Spoken From the Heart, Ms. Bush describes in vivid detail the circumstances surrounding the crash, which has haunted her for most of her adult life and which became the subject of questions and speculation when it was revealed during her husbands first presidential run. A copy of the book, scheduled for release in early May, was obtained by The New York Times at a bookstore. On several occasions in the book, Ms. Bush admonishes her husbands political ...

I swear it is time to start a series called "If this were President Bush, just imagine..." It is a series that will focus on the decisions President Obama makes and the reaction from the media compared to the reaction to President Bush making the same sort of decision. Just imagine for a moment the explosion from the MSM if Bush had decided to do this: President Barack Obama has denied aid to individuals affected by Marchs massive storms and Gov. M. Jodi Rell said she plans to file a formal appeal. Denying care to individuals? Hmmm. Imagine the explosion from main stream media if this were President Bush???? Kinda interesting that President Obama has no problem ...
Report: CA Voters Tricked Into Registering As Republicans With Pot Petition Post Date: 2010-04-28 12:16:53 by war

Orange County authorities are launching an investigation into possible voter registration fraud after a local newspaper reported over a hundred cases of voters being tricked into registering as Republicans by petitioners who asked them to sign petitions for, among other causes, legalizing pot. The Orange County Register reported last week that the Orange County District Attorney's office announced it would team up with the Secretary of State on the case, following a Register report that 99 written complaints were filed since March by voters who said they were registered as Republicans without their consent. Another 74 voters reached by the Register said they, too, were unwillingly ...
Calls To Boycott Arizona Grow Over New Immigration Law Post Date: 2010-04-28 11:57:24 by Brian S

Reporting from Los Angeles and Phoenix Pressure continued to mount Tuesday against Arizona's tough new immigration law, with the Obama administration considering a legal challenge and political leaders calling for economic boycotts. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Tuesday that she had "deep concerns" with the law and said it could siphon resources needed to target criminals. U.S. Atty. Gen. Eric Holder said he was considering "the possibility of a court challenge." "I think that that law is an unfortunate one," Holder said. "It is, I fear, subject to potential abuse. Americans In Anti-Incumbent Mood Ahead Of Elections: Poll Post Date: 2010-04-28 11:45:43 by Brian S

American voters are riding a tide of anti-incumbent sentiment, with fewer than a third of them likely to back their representatives in mid-term November elections, a new poll showed Wednesday. The figure represents the lowest such numbers since the Republican Party capitalized on massive voter discontent to snatch control of the Senate and House of Representatives from Democrats in 1994. The Washington Post-ABC News poll showed widespread dissatisfaction carrying across political parties and ideologies, with less that 25 percent of independents and just three in 10 Republicans saying they are leaning towards voting for an incumbent. But President Barack Obama's Democrats, who control ...
Admiral: Gulf Drilling Disaster ‘One Of The Most Significant Oil Spills In US History’ Post Date: 2010-04-28 11:36:42 by Brian S

The Gulf of Mexico oil rig disaster will develop into one of the worst spills in US history if the well is not sealed, the coast guard officer leading the response warned. British Petroleum, which leases the Deepwater Horizon platform, has been operating four robotic submarines some 1,500 meters (5,000 feet) down on the seabed to try to cap two leaks in the riser pipe that connected the rig to the wellhead. But the best efforts of the British energy giant have yielded no progress so far, and engineers are frantically constructing a giant dome that could be placed over the leaks as a back-up plan to try and stop the oil spreading. Time is running out as a huge slick with a 600-mile ...

Fifteen months into the reign of President Barack Obama, who promised to restore trust and civility to government, and Americans apparently aren't getting his message. An exhaustive Pew Center survey finds that a record 78 percent of Americans don't trust government, and feel it has gotten too big and too powerful. No wonder. Obama has expanded the government by one-third so far, with plans to grow it even more on the drawing board. Americans just witnessed one of the most arrogant displays of political power ever in Obama's cramming through of his health care bill by any means necessary. Taxes are set to go up substantially, as are deficits, and more than $1 trillion on ...
Foreclosures Climb to Highest-Ever Level (The Obama depression) Post Date: 2010-04-28 11:05:38 by no gnu taxes

RealtyTrac reports that foreclosures reached their highest-ever level in March: [F]ilings were reported on 367,056 properties in March, an increase of nearly 19 percent from the previous month, an increase of nearly 8 percent from March 2009 and the highest monthly total since RealtyTrac began issuing its report in January 2005. The troubles continued to be felt most acutely in the so-called sand states: California, Nevada, Arizona, and Florida. In California alone 216,263 properties received a foreclosure notice. Ten states accounted for more than 70 percent of foreclosure activity, RealtyTrac said. Why the sudden spike, so many months since the start of the burst ...
Lindsey Graham No Longer Supports Legalizing Illegals Now. Says We First Need to Secure the Borders Post Date: 2010-04-28 09:58:40 by no gnu taxes

Sen. Lindsey Graham, the sole Republican who was working on a bill to legalize illegal immigrants, in effect put the bill on the shelf on Tuesday, saying a debate now would destroy any prospects for passage and saying the issue needs to wait until 2012. The remarks likely signal the end of any serious chance for broad immigration legislation to pass this year, since Mr. Graham, South Carolina Republican, was the best hope for a partnership with President Obama and Democrats who want to write a bill. "It is impossible for me and any other serious Democrat to get this body to move forward until we prove to the American people we can secure our borders," Mr. Graham told Homeland ...
Crews May Set Fire to Burn off Leaked Gulf Oil Post Date: 2010-04-27 19:26:26 by Brian S

The Coast Guard says crews may set fires to burn off oil leaking into the Gulf of Mexico from a wrecked offshore drilling platform. Coast Guard Rear Adm. Mary Landry says the burn would be done far offshore and could happen as soon as Wednesday. She says efforts have failed to shut off the flow nearly 5,000 feet below where the rig Deepwater Horizon exploded and sank last week. Robot subs are still working on it. The oil would be trapped in special containment booms and set on fire. A similar burn off the coast of Newfoundland in 1993 eliminated 50 to 99 percent of captured oil. The oil is now about 20 miles off the coast of Venice, La., the closest it's been to land. But it's ...
Obama is personally responsible for the economic collapse Post Date: 2010-04-27 11:42:08 by no gnu taxes

Lehman Brothers collapse is traced back to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the two big mortgage banks that got a federal bailout a few weeks ago. Freddie and Fannie used huge lobbying budgets and political contributions to keep regulators off their backs. A group called the Center for Responsive Politics keeps track of which politicians get Fannie and Freddie political contributions. The top three U.S. senators getting big Fannie and Freddie political bucks were Democrats and No. 2 is Sen. Barack Obama. Now remember, he's only been in the Senate four years, but he still managed to grab the No. 2 spot ahead of John Kerry decades in the Senate and Chris Dodd, who is chairman ...
Louisiana Oil Spill Now the Size of Rhode Island and Headed For Shore Post Date: 2010-04-27 11:11:06 by Brian S

(ChattahBox)The sunken oil rig off the coast of Louisiana in the Gulf of Mexico is now oozing out crude oil at an estimated 42,000 gallons per day, threatening the sensitive ecosystems of the region, including a feeding ground for sperm whales. The oil slick is now larger than the State of Rhode Island and is headed for the shoreline during tourist season. The oil slick could make landfall in a few days. Because the oil well sits 5,000 feet below the surface, efforts using robots and remote-controlled submarines to cap off the leak have failed. The oil rig explosion, which caused 11 deaths and an environmental disaster in the making, has all the signs of becoming the worst spill since ...
Obama’s phony banking “reform”: The so-called bank “reform” is an exercise in mass deception! Post Date: 2010-04-27 08:56:35 by no gnu taxes

Debate on the Senate version of the Obama administrations bank regulatory overhaul is expected to begin shortly. The House of Representatives passed its banking bill last December. Neither bill does anything to curb the power of the banks or limit their parasitic and socially destructive activities. What the media is calling the most sweeping overhaul of the banking system since the Great Depression in reality sanctions the ever greater monopolization of the financial system by a handful of Wall Street giants, imposes no limits on executive pay, and allows the banks and hedge funds to continue gambling on exotic and largely unregulated securities such as collateralized ...
The “surge” in new home sales isn’t a sign real estate crisis is over: it’s another Obama mirage (The Obama depression) Post Date: 2010-04-27 08:53:43 by no gnu taxes

Happy days are here again, right? With the 27% jump in new home sales, announced last week, the real estate crisis is over and we can move on right? Not by a long shot. The New York Times latest giddy article about the end of Obamas recession entitled From the Mall to the Docks, Signs of Rebound is propaganda. The Commerce Department told us new home sales grew to 411,000 last month; the biggest jump in monthly activity in 47 years: Meaningless. A sober look at the numbers proves the Times is wrong again. The big jump was based on Februarys all time low of 324,000. The good price news on these new homes is not exactly what we were ...
Unemployment Challenges Obama’s Economic Narrative (The Obama depression) Post Date: 2010-04-27 08:49:25 by no gnu taxes

Even as he touts his efforts to put more Americans to work, President Barack Obama faces a public increasingly skeptical of his ability to bring jobs back to Main Street. During stops in Iowa, Illinois and Missouri, Obama will try to convince voters that his economic policies are working, despite an unemployment rate that's expected to remain at painfully high levels for months if not years. Those voters - many of them crucial independents - will be key to Obama's re-election prospects in 2012. And his fellow Democrats, facing a tough political climate in the November, need their support even sooner. "The bottom line is that the Democrats are almost certain to be campaigning ...
