Sarah Palin Has More Balls Than All the Stuffed Suits in Washington Put Together

You know, I honestly haven't decided if she the best possible person for the job of President of the United States, but considering how I've had to hold my nose and vote for the lesser of two evils the past three elections, Sarah Palin's the best thing going right now in the GOP. My vote is hers to lose right now, unless someone can clone Ronald Reagan. **** Sarah Palin tweets ‘Rahm, you lie’ after chief of staff’s comments on ABC Sarah Palin called White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel a liar on Twitter today, saying his comments on ABC’s “This Week” make him shallow, narrow-minded, political and irresponsible. Tea Party Wary Of Regulating Big Oil, Even In Light Of BP Oil Spill

JACKSON, Miss. — A tea party favorite running for the U.S. Senate in Kentucky says President Barack Obama is using the Gulf of Mexico oil spill to advance an energy tax. While Democrats denounce BP for the spill, a Republican congressman from Texas accuses the White House of performing a $20 billion "shakedown" by pushing the company to create a compensation fund for spill victims. Rep. Joe Barton also apologizes to BP Chief Executive Tony Hayward at a Capitol hearing, although he is later pressured by GOP leaders to apologize for his apology. In the two months since BP's underwater well ruptured and started belching millions of gallons of crude into the Gulf, many ...

Lieberman Tells Web Users To ‘Relax’ About ‘Kill Switch’

China has the power to shut down its Internet, so why can't we?That's one of the arguments Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-CT) is making about the bill he's co-authored that would give the president the power to disable parts of the Internet as he deems necessary."Right now China, the government, can disconnect parts of its Internet in case of war and we need to have that here too," Lieberman told CNN's Candy Crowley on State of the Union Sunday."There's a lot of people out there who think that what you are granting the president is absolute power to shut down freedom of speech, that this is just over the top," Crowley said."No way and total ...

LAKEHURST -- The Lakehurst section of Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst is on lockdown today but base officials are not yet saying what led to the locked gates. Senior Airman David Carbajal said "several simultaneous incidents" prompted the lockdown at 9:15 a.m. He said he did not know what those incidents were. Carbajal said the incidents did not involve a shooter and no one has been shot, but he could not confirm whether there were reports of shots fired. The gates on the Lakehurst side of the base are locked, but the gates at the Fort Dix and McGuire Air Force sections remain open for now, he said. The Naval station at Lakehurst, which encompasses 7,430 acres in the ...

At least 40 shot across city over weekend June 21, 2010 7:34 AM | 10 Comments At least 40 people were shot over the weekend across Chicago, with seven of them slain, according to police logs. The toll covers a period from 8:43 p.m. Friday--after violent storms hit the city--to 6:39 this morning. On Sunday, Chicago Police Superintendent Jody Weis acknowledged a high number shootings over the weekend and attributed more than half of them to the work of gangs. The total from overnight Sunday into this morning was at least 18, including a 1-year-old girl who suffered a graze wound and a 44-year-old man who was shot in the head and killed. That girl and four men were struck by gunfire on ...

In two sobering paragraphs, Michael Snyder puts the U.S. economy in historical perspective: ...We have squandered the great wealth left to us by our forefathers, we have almost totally dismantled the world's greatest manufacturing base, we have shipped millions of good jobs overseas and we have piled up the biggest mountain of debt in the history of mankind. We have taken the greatest free enterprise economy that was ever created and have turned it into a gigantic house of cards delicately balanced on a never-ending spiral of paper money and debt. For decades, all of this paper money and debt has enabled us to enjoy the greatest party in the history of the world, but now the bills are ...

Obama's thuggery is useless in fighting spill

Thuggery is unattractive. Ineffective thuggery even more so. Which may be one reason so many Americans have been reacting negatively to the response of Barack Obama and his administration to BP's Gulf oil spill. Take Interior Secretary Ken Salazar's remark that he would keep his "boot on the neck" of BP, which brings to mind George Orwell's definition of totalitarianism as "a boot stamping on a human face -- forever." Except that Salazar's boot hasn't gotten much in the way of results yet. Or consider Obama's undoubtedly carefully considered statement to Matt Lauer that he was consulting with experts "so I know whose ass to kick." ...

Obama’s oil spill “panel” lacks technical expertise but is quite adept at talking publicly about “America’s addiction to oil”

What a shock! Well, not really Obama’s Gulf of Mexico oil spill “panel” lacks technical expertise to deal with the oil cleanup, but has plenty of political talking points talking about “America’s addiction to oil.” According to Yahoo/AP Only one of the seven commissioners, the dean of Harvard’s engineering and applied sciences school, has a prominent engineering background — but it’s in optics and physics. Another is an environmental scientist with expertise in coastal areas and the after-effects of oil spills. Both are praised by other scientists. The five other commissioners are experts in policy and management. -- The White House said the ...

U.S. News says, “World sees Obama as incompetent and amateur”

Perception is reality: How our friends and enemies perceive Barack Obama Barack Obama, who was sold to the American people as the most intelligent, most competent presidential candidate ever, is beginning to look like he’s not competent to run a hotel on Baltic Avenue, much less the house at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. The latest issue of U.S. News takes a look at the results of the last 17 months: The end result is that a critical mass of influential people in world affairs who once held high hopes for the president have begun to wonder whether they misjudged the man. They are no longer dazzled by his rock star personality and there is a sense that there is something amateurish ...

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) -- A thick plume of smoke blotted out the blue sky north of Flagstaff on Sunday afternoon as a second wildfire moved through the area, forcing the evacuation of additional homes and an animal shelter. Coconino County authorities said residents of the Timberline Estates, Wupatki Trails and Fernwood neighborhoods were being asked to leave their homes. Authorities couldn't immediately say how many people were affected. The Second Chance Animal Shelter also was being evacuated. About 170 homes already were evacuated Sunday because of the 350-acre Hardy wildfire on the southeastern side of Flagstaff, which started Saturday. The second blaze was spotted Sunday on the ...

A summary of events on Sunday, June 20, Day 61 of the Gulf of Mexico oil spill that began with the April 20 explosion and fire on the drilling rig Deepwater Horizon, owned by Transocean Ltd. and leased by BP PLC, which is in charge of cleanup and containment. The blast killed 11 workers. Since then, oil has been pouring into the Gulf from a blown-out undersea well. WHITE HOUSE President Barack Obama's chief of staff is warning about what might happen if Republicans - who have defended BP over the Gulf oil spill - were to run Congress after the fall election. Rahm Emanuel told ABC's "This Week" that the GOP philosophy is to paint BP as the victim. He said Obama will make ...

Democrats continue hammering GOP over Barton apology to BP

Washington (CNN) -- A top Democrat kept up the Joe Barton drumbeat Sunday, saying the Republican legislator's defense of BP last week was an example of GOP ideology that favors big business. Republicans seeking to change the subject countered that the nation's focus should be on efforts to stop the Gulf oil gusher and criticized the Obama administration for failing to make that happen. The statement last Thursday by Republican Rep. Joe Barton of Texas -- which was quickly retracted under pressure from House GOP leadership -- provided Democrats an opportunity to deflect growing public disenchantment with how the government was responding to the oil disaster. Acknowledging the ...

Go Big on Cig Taxes: Paterson; Smokers Fume in Shutdown Showdown ALBANY -- Gov. Paterson lit up the budget battle last night by announcing he would force lawmakers to approve a staggering $1.60-a-pack tax hike on cigarettes or risk a chaotic government shutdown. The tactic will assuredly set up another showdown in the narrowly divided state Senate, where both parties have issued firm no-tax pledges as the fight for control rages in the shadow of the November elections. The proposed tax represents a 60-cent increase over the plan floated by Paterson in February. It would hike the state's total tax on smokes to $4.35 -- up nearly 60 percent. That's on top of the $1.50 city tax ...

Obama OWNS The OIL SPILL – On his watch, HIS FAULT!

The night he locked up the Democratic presidential nomination, Barack Obama predicted that generations hence, people would look back on the historic day as “the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal.” At the time, his words reeked of hubris. Today, they look positively delusional. President Obama can’t stop the oil leak in the Gulf, but he can and should be held accountable for the inept government response to cleaning it up and mitigating its worst effects on the shoreline. And you can bet that if George W. Bush were in the Oval Office, the media would be blaming the president for the worst environmental disaster in U.S. history. But ...

Obama Slams GOP ‘Obstruction’ On Jobs, Stimulus

President Barack Obama slammed Republican opponents Saturday for their "obstruction" in Congress and called for a "willingness to score fewer political points" in order to deal with the nation's problems. The United States "is facing a host of big and difficult challenges," Obama noted in his weekly radio and Internet address, saying Americans need a "willingness in Washington to put the public's interests first." Obama said he was "disappointed" at obstacles put up by opposition lawmakers this week to the Democrat's economic recovery efforts in the US Senate, including legislation to extend unemployment benefits. Democrats Spend Big To Lure Obama's Minority And Young Voters Back To The Polls

As political gambles go, it's a big and risky one: $50 million to test the proposition that the Democratic Party's outreach to new voters that helped make Barack Obama president can work in an election where his name is not on the ballot. The standard rule of midterm elections is that only the most reliable voters show up at the polls, so both parties have traditionally focused on the unglamorous and conventional work that turns out their bases. But this year, the Democrats are doubling down on registering and motivating newer voters -- especially the 15 million heavily minority and young, who made it to the polls for the first time in the last presidential election. ...

President Barack Obama hit the golf course Saturday with Vice President Joe Biden. The White House pool report noted that Obama left at about 1 p.m. for the course at Andrews Air Force base, and his golfing parters included White House Trip Director Marvin Nicholson and photographer David Katz. Nicholson and Katz, along with Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood, joined Obama for four hours of golf last weekend. The Republican National Committee released an ad soon afterward taking aim at Obama's golfing during the ongoing BP oil spill crisis in the Gulf of Mexico. The temperatures in the Washington, D.C., area Saturday were similar to last weekend, in the low 90s and humid. Obama ...

Rep. Joe Barton and oil industry have long history The Texas Republican, who called the BP oil spill fund created at the White House's insistence a 'shakedown,' is among Washington's top recipients of industry donations. Rep. Joe L. Barton of Texas, the ranking Republican on the House Energy and Commerce Committee who apologized to BP for what he termed a White House "shakedown," has a long history of helping the oil and gas industry on Capitol Hill. Though energy interests have long played a big role in the lives of Texas congressional members and their constituents, Barton has strong financial ties that run through his personal and public life. HARRISON COUNTY, Ind. (WDRB Fox 41) -- The already embattled Harrison County Indiana Sheriff's Department is under the gun again. An inmate claims he was tortured -- and many are claiming it was racially motivated. Lawyers for Tevin Bald say there is no justification for his treatment behind bars. Civil rights leaders and attorneys representing Tevin Bald of Louisville are incensed, and they want the Harrison County, Indiana Sheriffs Department held accountable. They say 18-year-old Bald was abused May 22nd, while being housed at the jail. His attorneys believe his treatment was racially motivated. "He is the ...
